  1. Majority of the time. Depends on the customer a bit too. Any extra cost over $20 the customer is notified. I also untwist reserve canopy control lines after reserve rides too w/o notifying the customer. Also test canopy fabric if I feel integrity is compromised due to snag/stain etc. Such as finding the type7 legstrap worn through by 1/4 inch where the legstrap hardware pinches the webbing on an icon rescently, I definately notified the customer. After lengthy discussion i replaced the legstrap and also did the SB that he refused previously.
  2. Well you seem to have tried the most appropriate places to get the word to the masses. You know, 45 degree rule = 3 words = simple/stupid. Can your way of explaining separation be so simplified? I'm trying!
  3. BTW have you seen any pics from the bird trip we did at SSD? In manifest on the walls were some of the pics. Have good group pics also.
  4. True story: As freefly was coming of age and exit order was being figured out freefliers were exiting first before RW. I was in the first out freefly group with an 8 way RW group next. Winds were high from approx. 2-3,000 on up to 13,000 similar direction. A/C flying straight into headwind. Upon opening facing up wind, i hear the whistling sound of bodies in freefall. Next I see someone tracking over the right corner of my canopy, then another and another. I was freaking the shit out! I was basically surrounded by the 8 way breaking off above me and tracking as if their lives depended on it.After much conversation skydivers at the DZ learned something that day. Q: What would be the best scenario for jumprun? If the A/C was flying crosswind in the high winds essentially crabbing each group drifts on it's own line, would this be the best scenario for jumprun.
  5. I agree. Can this formula somehow be expressed to the DZ's and be ultimately used?
  6. I'm hearing you. Sometimes i wonder what the hell the jumper in the door is looking at. Is it just the group ahead of them or are they also being observant of airtraffic/canopy traffic etc.. I feel most comfy with an 'older, experienced skydiver' checking the spot. That also goes for the group leaving after me. Hey Kallend i'd like to borrow your dog! There are some jumpers who'd be better off counting fleas!hehehehe
  7. Sure, separation should depend on some things. What is your norm? Is there any simple way of determining separation?
  8. Bill, do skydivers accidentaly get enough separation due to the 45 degree rule? The past few years the 45 degree thing and 8-10 sec. has been the most talked term involving separation around me. I don't want to be misled and/or mislead others. Your responses are welcome with much respect.
  9. As with any handle be sure to have the handle in your hand somehow prior to pulling. What i mean is don't be pulling on the MLW(Main Lift Web)and /or jumpsuit, such as i've seen. If you want to hear the story, let me know.
  10. if you jump it at Perris, try using Laura the american packer. She used to pack in Z-hills and has been the best packer for my Jedei even with it being out of trim. Good canopy, it stayed above your head with line twists. It is my observation that if you have line twists and look at the riser ends/toggles/3 rings keeping them even will keep the canopy overhead. Uneven= spiraling canopy. Of course other things can cause a canopy to spiral while having linetwists. If you have questions...
  11. Regarding pin tests. I have retested pins when upon inspection one thing or another made me wonder about the pin. It is an easy test. Majority of skydivers are penny pinchers when it comes to the rigging. I have repaired many pieces of equipment that should have been repaired long ago. Some skydivers have a high regard for my opinion concerning the gear. I can understand your feeling about the 'new to you rigger'. Some are rip offs. Make good choices!
  12. Happens. An older well respected rigger passed that on to me years ago. I still sew the cards together. One straight stitch, no backstitch, just on the edge so info is easily seen.
  13. Take the advice from RhondaLee. Buy a donut cushion your ass will thank you. Even the U shaped one for the neck will do. Bruised tailbone happened to me too years ago. After the pain subsided partly due to the pillow,to normal a few weeks later,a chiropractor 'reset' my tailbone/coccyx/hips. What a difference. Have had minor pains here and there ever since.
  14. Clever J. Sounds like Jerry S. wisdom right there!
  15. Absolutely! In time to deal w/ malfunction and get the reserve out and open before getting to the ground! Regardless of the landing area.
  16. On the leader for the show they show the girls doing tandems. Is one of the girls an actual skydiver?
  17. Ya well, welcome! Ever met a jumper who brews up the next days 'smell of fear' with such things as beer, devil'd eggs, beer, boiled eggs, beer, steak and potatoes, beer, pickled eggs, beer. Believe me there are some very fearful jumpers out there!
  18. Hahahahaha hahahahaha aaaaahahhahahahah!!! That's it i'm going for a coffee.
  19. Good point. Have landed in the middle of field(corn) and nearest the edge. Walked away which is the best scenario for landing out. I once had a fear of getting jacked up needing medical assistance. Choosing to land nearer to a road would get medical help faster than in the middle of field. May be a silly thought. Another reason i have landed nearer to a road while landing off is i feel i control the factors a little more. Knowing fences and powerlines travel along roads allows me to know where they are. Then there is the girl landing in field that looks as if the grass is short. Upon landing the grass is overhead with stickers, uhhh, ouch. Weigh the pros and cons, be educated.
  20. Do you get dressed up? How do you stand out in the crowd? i'll be looking! Used to watch rollerderby as a kid along with other silly events like WWF wrestling.
  21. Hot chicks in little outfits? Thats good quality entertainment! Go Vixen Go! There were some drunk bitches on last nights show.
