  1. does your sister have an ex ? invite him over for a 12 pack.
  2. if there was ever a verifiable extra-terrestrial ufo, wouldn't the press release be great ? "we don't know what is. they have superior technology that we have no defense against. they can herd you into cattle cars at any time and eat you. have a pleasant day. begin panicking when you feel it is appropriate."
  3. if the military truly does not know, isn't that bad ? sub-launched missiles can hit anywhere. this would be an admission that we are in danger from an unknown.
  4. Too much weed in CA. couldn't be, that is against the law there. ;)
  5. Bill Moyers Worth reading the whole article. The political blame is spread to both sides. The statistics are the important part. One in three.
  6. There is also paint that turns your wall into a projector screen if you want a really big TV for a fraction of the price. We came back to the trailer after a day of jumping and our neighbor had painted one side of our trailer with white paint. Now, it could use the maintenance, and we appreciated it, but we asked why. "We are showing outdoor movies and needed a screen. If you're not offended by porn, bring some refreshments and stop by."
  7. A lot of different topics and skills being discussed. The measurement for all of them is this - know that you can safely execute the skill in all conditions before pushing forward. Formations ? Learn the breakoff pattern, how to get up when going low, how to do safe approaches and docks. Do these skills in 3 and 4-ways before doing them on 8 and then 12-ways. Canopy piloting ? Land your current canopy in a 4mph downwind before downsizing. (You'll do that one day on an off-landing) Whatever it is, do it well small before going big. People need to realize that there is no rush. Especially if it is a rush to claim a skill that cannot be done correctly and safely.
  8. the 40yo guy tailgating me at 70mph on his way to work. He is dreaming that he is drafting me in a NASCAR race and about to make his big move... in his mini-van. Your life is over soccer-dad.
  9. sure, but only with the proper gravy. ;)
  10. i hear that the Gators have been trying to recruit him. ;)
  11. Years ago, people realized that it takes a lot of time and money to get laws passed in every state. So, they get the SC to make a ruling and all the other courts have to deal with it. Also, if the state doesn't enforce the law in the manner which is expected by the Fed, then the state will not get any funding for schools, roads, and anything other topic. It's the Golden Rule. Whoever has the gold, rules.
  12. i have a policy of limiting jump groups to 8 on walkup groups with unknowns, or 12 if there are 8 experienced people. this is for the safety of everyone. breakoff time is the concern. for the really new folks, keeping track of 2 or 3 others can be challenging.
  13. You do know he's dead, right? Unless something has changed that I missed. As far as I know, still dead. However, a recognizable example. In local politics, a local drunk nicknamed "Bum" ran for office frequently, just so he make remarks about local politicians in public. He did things like lose parts of two fingers while stealing copper from a light pole (active one) while inebriated. Also a good example, but not widely known.
  14. A website that probably gets used twice a year and it gets "high volume". Really? On a day when people vote? Who'd a thunk it.
  15. Some politicians are born to lose. They aren't going to win, and everyone knows that, but that is their strength. They do win, but at a different level than their active status. Examples - After some indiscretions, Ted Kennedy could never run for Pres, but he could always get elected in Mass. So, every 4 years, the Dems trot him out to say things about the Rep candidate that the Dem candidate could never say (and probably no one should). He is flame-proof. What kind of character assassination can you fling back at him ? On the TP program is O'Donnell. She may never win, but she will certainly exist as the person who will say anything in her brain. Handy for the person putting stuff in her ear. She can make a good living putting her name on blogs and making appearances. Remember all the racist stuff that Clinton piled on in NC and Miss while his hubby was running ? "Tsk, tsk... don't say those things (but we're glad you did)" Those are the first 3 that come to mind. One from each of our opposing teams.
  16. Thanks! The kid threw himself down on the sidewalk and cried. I wasn't mean, I just used a "mom" voice. I told the boy's mom he could have another piece and she said, "that's ok...his act is part of his costume." I think she was a little embarrassed! Years ago, it was paper instead of plastic. Snotty kids got a plastic Easter egg full of water. By the time the kid got to the end of the sidewalk, the paper bag was dropping candy and we had a net gain on that kid. ;)
  17. With that much experience, it seems that you shouldn't keep coming back.
  18. The basis of this guys mathematics are poor. Alcohol is legal, so the opportunities for car crashes and damage are larger. More drinkers. Heroin (and other opium products) are not as widely used. Very few fatalities from its use. Damage is not as good a measurement unless the user pool was equal. When opium was legal in China, the impact was much larger. It destroyed many lives. Pot has a larger user base in the US and has less damaging effects than alcohol, in terms of violence while under use. In all the NIH stats, the reports seem to make an effort to find a poor reason to support the legal system. It is obvious that they bow to politics and funding.
  19. move the lawn so that there are small grass clipping everywhere. run the sprinkler so that they are damp. ask the kids to do a trick (trick or treat). the only trick that kids know is a somersault, so they leave with grass clippings stuck to their backs.
  20. Seems like they should be able to abide by the simple rules... None of them has done a single trick yet.
  21. People try to divert a discussion that way if they want to avoid the real topic, choice. I support a womens right to choose their sexual partners. The NOW doesn't care about women having a choice if it favors their agenda (the 'greater good' argument, I am sure).
  22. How about Dems vs Dems ? At least five Dems are touting their "independence from their party" and how they voting against the party line. Issue ? They weren't in Congress during the vote. Fact check.org "We have met the enemy and he is us." - Pogo ***At least five freshman Democratic House members are running ads claiming they voted against the bank "bailout," when in fact none was in Congress when the bill setting up the Troubled Asset Relief Program, or TARP, was enacted. * Mary Jo Kilroy says she "voted against the bank bailout." * Kathy Dahlkemper says she voted "against a bailout that helped Wall Street." * Frank Kratovil claims to have cast his vote in opposition to "the big bank bailout." * Dina Titus’ ad maintains she "even voted against the bank bailout." * Glenn Nye’s ad tells viewers he went "against his own party" and "voted against the Wall Street bailout." The final House vote on the Emergency Economic Stabilization Act of 2008 took place on Oct. 3, 2008. The bill passed, 263-171. None of the five lawmakers who are running these ads is listed in the roll call vote. That’s because none of them had taken office yet – in fact, none of them would even be elected for another month.
