Diatribe

Recommended Posts

Seems like the election of Trump has emboldened a lot of people who used to have to actually consider others because they weren’t the sole arbiters of power and worth, to quit that pussy girlie shit and go back to being “men,” who get to say what they want, when they want, because the US world revolves around them.

So they expect people who disagree with them to read or watch (worse, because it’s way more time consuming) what they post, without their having to pay any real attention to what others say, post, or link.

Fuck that.

Eventually, it’ll end again. Time passes, old people die. Younger people will turn old, and they’ll ossify, but in different ways. If we really wanted to “make America like it was,” voting would be for white landowners, German immigrants (and anyone like the Irish who immigrated after them, and who changed the fabric of America) would be reviled, and indentured servitude would be the norm for orphaned children whose parents couldn’t provide for them.

Fuck that. You want the Internet, modern medical science, and telecommunications, you have to take the rest.

I’m sick of hearing (and sick to hear) longtime friends post nastier and nastier stuff on FB. They’d never say it to me (well, maybe now they would :(). Letting people say their nastiest shit out loud hasn’t worked out well for America

What angers me is the trend, dare I say requirement, to use the term nationalist in a pejorative connotation. I was raised to love my country and I still do. I served in the military with pride. I am a Patriotic Nationalistic Conservative Christian and I will respect our flag, support our constitution, and stand with my community in defense of our way of life. I am not a terrorist. I am not a racist. I am not a homophobe. I am anti-socialism/communism. I am against the value structure of the progressive left Democratic Party. I am against open borders. I am against the influence of power by the Muslim Brotherhood. I think that about covers it for now. I am sure someone will conjure up another false claim to charge me with that I have overlooked.

Regardless, Jesus is the answer to all your questions and problems. May you find Him soon.

But apparently He is not quite enough for your questions and problems. Which is why you need to come here and complain about all the evil liberals , progressives, commies, Muslims, and other threats you see to your "way of life". Jesus does not seem to have brought you any peace at all, just another flag to wave at the others you disrespect so much.

Sorry, but many of the "values" you profess on here are the exact opposite of the values Jesus taught.  You might want to re-read Matthew 5 - 7.

Nothing wrong with being a nationalist.  White nationalists, however, are a problem.  And if "defending your way of life" means opposing rights for others, then I hope you fail.

What about your country do you love? It must be the real estate because you definitely don't love the people. I think you love the narrative of your Moses like march away from sin and oppression to the land of your people in the mountains of north Georgia. Hallelujah! Free at last, free at last you are finally free at last from the company of soup kitchen supporters and other Luciferians. But that's all BS, too. You have never disengaged from the outside world. You glean the Internet for the right news, engage in online forums, interact with socialist/communist/liberal evil doers, and communicate and stay involved with the greater world in the exact same way as those of us in purgatory do. So woop-de-doodle, you moved into a low security prison with unlimited work release opportunities, TV, Internet and concealed carry privileges. Seriously, are you here because your community and religion are really that boring to you now?

You've hit the nail on the head. Their way of life is all about controlling everyone else's way of life. The talk about charity and doing good is just window-dressing for the various forms of bigotry they practice.

Then they use their own belief system of so called religion, to blame those who have a different view.

It's interesting to see the twist.

Q: What is an evangelical?

A: Someone who feels compelled to convert others to believe as they do.

Q: What is even better than converting others to your beliefs?

A: Having the government enact your beliefs into law, thereby forcing others to live according to your beliefs.

As I recall, the Women's CHRISTIAN Temperance Union, the Weslyan, Methodist, Baptist churches, and the Mormon religion all pushed hard for the 18th Amendment (Prohibition), in accordance with your second answer.

What your country is has changed via the democratic process.

You haven't.

I suspect that's the root cause of your issues. You'd be perfectly happy if American society was as it was in the 50's.

In the end, it will be a win for the constitution, but not much else.

Only if the other players support and defend said constitution, as they pledged to do when they took office (Congress, I'm talking to you).

It has been sobering to watch people I've known, or thought I've known, go off the deep end for this nut job.

Two words:  my dad. :/

(expanded version: not only watches ONLY Fox News for his information, but only the opinion shows.  "Can't stand" the actual journalists like Shep Smith -- LOVES Judge Jeanie.  Lives in a rural community of Michigan with others of his same belief system.  Uneducated, so did not develop critical thinking skills. Forwards the conspiracy emails of his pals.)

Dad's wife is a "traditional" Republican, so she butts in and redirects the conversation to something more educated and reasonable when he gets out of hand, but she still likes to blanket blame Democrats with the accusations made by the same said network.

It's tough to visit without arguing. Usually his wife just changes the channel to HGTV or something else we can agree on!

Which community?  Wonder if it's the same BFE that my folks live in.  You just described my parents in your post.

Almost sounded like she was describing mine, except she said Michigan instead of Indiana.

Mine were lifelong Republicans, but that was back when the GOP:

- Opposed deficit spending.

- Opposed getting involved in foreign wars.

- Opposed government involvement in personal matters.

I don't know how they would react to the current version of the GOP if they were still alive.

Oh yeah, my mom was one of those folks making fools of themselves with shitty hats with tea bags hanging from them.  What they meant when they said they were tired of being taxed and wanted fiscal responsibility was actually "We're racist and don't like the black president."  Because now they don't seem to mind one bit that the deficit and debt are skyrocketing so that MNC's can pocket even more cash at the long-term expense of the ever-shrinking middle class.

I don't know that my mother was racist, but my old man would talk, and talk, and talk, about how he was not racist. But all someone needed to do was bring up the topic of inter-racial marriage, and ranting would begin. e.g.

"They aren't thinking of the children! They won't be accepted by either side!"

I would have liked to point out to him that perhaps "either side" wasn't as racist as himself, but didn't dare, because that would have guaranteed yet another beating for me.

Oftentimes I find that the people who scream the loudest that they're not racist are in fact the most racist people I find.  When people ask me if I'm racist, I say "Probably, a little, because of the environment I was raised in, but I actively try to identify those moments of failure and do better."

You’ve met my in-laws?

Small world.

edit:

In all seriousness, if there’s one thing I think Trump’s presidency has done that’s good is that it’s made it very obvious that all isn’t necessarily as we thought.

I don’t LIKE it, but I prefer knowing who among my friends hold opinions I despise.
