Seems like the election of Trump has emboldened a lot of people who used to have to actually consider others because they weren’t the sole arbiters of power and worth, to quit that pussy girlie shit and go back to being “men,” who get to say what they want, when they want, because the US world revolves around them. 

So they expect people who disagree with them to read or watch (worse, because it’s way more time consuming) what they post, without their having to pay any real attention to what others say, post, or link. 

Fuck that. 

Eventually, it’ll end again. Time passes, old people die. Younger people will turn old, and they’ll ossify, but in different ways. If we really wanted to “make America like it was,” voting would be for white landowners, German immigrants (and anyone like the Irish who immigrated after them, and who changed the fabric of America) would be reviled, and indentured servitude would be the norm for orphaned children whose parents couldn’t provide for them. 

Fuck that. You want the Internet, modern medical science, and telecommunications, you have to take the rest.

What angers me is the trend, dare I say requirement, to use the term nationalist in a pejorative connotation. I was raised to love my country and I still do. I served in the military with pride. I am a Patriotic Nationalistic Conservative Christian and I will respect our flag, support our constitution, and stand with my community in defense of our way of life. I am not a terrorist. I am not a racist. I am not a homophobe. I am anti-socialism/communism. I am against the value structure of the progressive left Democratic Party. I am against open borders. I am against the influence of power by the Muslim Brotherhood. I think that about covers it for now. I am sure someone will conjure up another false claim to charge me with that I have overlooked.

Almost sounded like she was describing mine, except she said Michigan instead of Indiana.

Mine were lifelong Republicans, but that was back when the GOP:

- Opposed deficit spending.

- Opposed getting involved in foreign wars.

- Opposed government involvement in personal matters. 

I don't know how they would react to the current version of the GOP if they were still alive.

Oh yeah, my mom was one of those folks making fools of themselves with shitty hats with tea bags hanging from them.  What they meant when they said they were tired of being taxed and wanted fiscal responsibility was actually "We're racist and don't like the black president."  Because now they don't seem to mind one bit that the deficit and debt are skyrocketing so that MNC's can pocket even more cash at the long-term expense of the ever-shrinking middle class.

Oftentimes I find that the people who scream the loudest that they're not racist are in fact the most racist people I find.  When people ask me if I'm racist, I say "Probably, a little, because of the environment I was raised in, but I actively try to identify those moments of failure and do better."

In all seriousness, if there’s one thing I think Trump’s presidency has done that’s good is that it’s made it very obvious that all isn’t necessarily as we thought.
