  3. Well, two things... - I could fix that problem for you.
  4. I'm not an AFF-i but... No seriously though. I agree with you. The response to your post wasn't needed. Had the person responding to that actually read your entire post, they might not have had to respond like that. This isn't to say that what they said was wrong but it absolutely did NOT apply to your post. So to the poster who responded with a long winded remark that didn't even apply to the post. Make sure you actually read the ENTIRE post before responding. Next time you may not have to waste time typing up an essay again.
  5. Don't really have any skydiving pet peeves because i haven't really been in the sport too long to have any. But my everyday pet peeves. -People who say "i could care less" as opposed to "I couldn't care less" -People who don't say "you're welcome"(or at least acknowledge in some way, shape, or form that you said thank you) when you say "thank you". -People who don't use their blinkers -Parents who let their children run around stores or just overall dont keep an eye on their children. I probably have a thousand more but i can't think of them right now. 7. Maybe im just reading this wrong but your self import price is 6105 eruos and your price to buy in germany is 5848 euros. am i the only one who doesnt see what the dilemma is here? if you're going to buy new it's obviously cheaper to buy in germany. So why not buy in germany? 12. You realize that if you are anything close to average, your 'custom' harness, and that of a buddy about the same size will be indentical, right? The point is that if you are a C-17 sized guy, just about any C-17 will fit you the same. There are a handful of rigs built for very odd people, and those might also be labeled 'C-17' but will not fit the same way, but aside from those few, every C-17 will be a good fit for you, so don't think that spending twice the money for new will get you much better than a properly fitted used rig. (BTW - C-17 refers to the way they label the Javelin harnesses, the C being the width of the yoke, and the 17 being the length of the main lift web). Here's the bottom line, if buying the new rig is going to slow you down one ounce in terms of jump money, it's a huge mistake. For less than half the price of new, you can find a rig that's 4 or 5 years old, and will work perfectly for you, leaving $1000+ for you to spend on jumps. There is no more important thing than time in the sky when it comes to jumping. Get the most cost effective rig that will suit your needs, and jump the piss out of it. Beyond that, the demo program for canopies is a great thing, but it's not a replacement for owning a canopy. There are wait lists and shipping delays that will find you without a canopy on a sunny weekend if you count on the demo programs to fill your rig. What you do is buy an inexpensive main that is generously sized for you. The exact model and flight characteristics of any canopy are of little concern to you at this point. You don't even know what to look for, so don't sweat those details right now. Plan on putting 50 or 100 jumps on this first canopy, and while you do that, sign up for some demos. You can jump them as they trickle in, compare them to each other and the trusty main you usually jump (see? It gives you a frame of reference to make comparisons to. This one is faster than mine in the turns, that one flares better than mine. Without the 'mine' you have no solid frame of reference to comapre things to). Then, once you have seen a few things, and jumped a few things, you can hone in what you like, and you'll be ready to downsize from your first canopy anyway. Then you get the one that demo'd the best for you. Thanks for this advice. The only problem I'm having is I'm a bigger guy(not huge but definitely above average) and rigs for someone my size have been very hard to come by and when they do come around they fly out the door. For instance, I found a rig on here that was pretty much exactly what I was looking for. The item was sold the same day it was posted. So I figure finding a canopy isn't the hard part.it's finding the container that will fit me. So that's why I plan on going with a new container. But thanks for the advice. I'll take it into consideration. 13. Wait... You mean there was such a thing as a black and white tv? No way. I'm not buying it. Pics or it didnt happen. 14. So i plan on buying a container brand new for the sake of comfort and im seeing some good deals lately. So what i was wondering is im hearing a lot of people recommend renting or demoing canopies. Now my home dz doesnt have much for rental gear except the student gear and not much else so demoing is pretty much my only option. So assuming i have my container, reserve, and AAD i can contact canopy manufacturers and request a demo? Would this be a good idea to do to try out main canopies before i buy them? 19. i have to agree with davjohns on this one. If you're basing the success of a relationship purely on how soon you get laid, you're in for many many failed relationships. Not only that, but you're probably missing out on some awesome girls. Add to that the fact that it's extremely shallow to base the success, or rather, continuing a relationship, on how soon you get laid. All i can say is good luck OP in your relationship endeavor. I hope you find what you're looking for, but my guess is with that kind of thinking, you're not going to. That being said i chose unlimited because, frankly, relationships shouldnt be based on how soon you have sex. Now how GOOD the sex is may be a different story. 20. It's comments like this that i don't really care for. I understand this is being made in jest, but the fact of the matter is, going in is a reality in this sport. Sky God or not, comments regarding whether or not someone is going to go in are just unnecessary. I understand that this sport is all about experience and attitude and doing one stupid thing can kill you. And there are people that do these stupid things and die. But to make a comment that someone is going to go in is out of line as far as im concerned. It's one thing to give someone advice that would help prevent killing them but to just say "that person is going to go in" is just silly because in reality we dont know his true attitude in this sport. He's a troll on an internet forum. It's doesn't mean that in real life he's an irresponsible skydiver. 24. i gotta agree with shah on this one. I've had family say something similar to me as well. I refuse to lower my standards just to be in a relationship(or get married) especially with someone who i plan on spending the rest of my life with. I know people who have stayed in a miserable relationship just so they weren't alone(and i'm aware that the OP isn't suggesting this). I promised myself that i wouldn't be that person and i plan on sticking to that. Being in a relationship just to be in a relationship is simply a problem waiting to happen. 25. am i the only one who sees something along the lines of racial profiling here? I mean, i am in no way accusing the OP of being racist or anything along those lines. But, come on. If this was 2 white guys that came to your door, i hardly believe that you would even give it a second glance. I could very well be wrong but my money says im not. My main reason for even saying this is that you specified that the people were hispanic. If you never specified what race they were i would never have even brought this up. Im not saying you shouldnt be cautious about people who randomly come to your door, but to automatically think they could be checking out houses to break into as opposed to actually being legit people selling energy drinks(which, believe it or not, people do that strangely enough) i think you just may be a little paranoid. Again, keep your house safe in any manner you see fit. But just because 2 hispanic people show up at your door selling something, it doesnt mean they want to break into your house.
