  1. So im heading down to Florida tomorrow because i just found out that my grandfather has maybe a few days left with us and i want to see him before he goes. I wanted to do something special for him this weekend(maybe sunday or monday) which was do sort of a memorial jump in his memory. While he wasnt a skydiver, i think him and my family would appreciate it and it would mean a lot to them. I was thinking maybe a 5 way in the form of a cross or something else(im open to ideas) with someone to video it. I would pay the videographers slot but i wouldnt be able to pay for other slots(sorry, spent a bunch on my flight down there). If someone on here could possibly help me out or knows someone who could i would appreciate it. Thanks Ryan Life is not a journey to the grave with the intention of arriving in a pretty and well preserved body, but rather to skid in broadside, all used up, and loudly proclaiming: Wow, what a ride!

  3. I take it no one here has seen "The American Poop Movie". Yes thats the real title. Sad to say, i was an extra in it because i was out of work and knew the people making the movie and they needed extras. So i volunteered. It's kinda like an American Pie type movie just absolutely horrible. Also Evil Dead is a one of those movies that are so bad they're good. I believe it was Peter Jackson's first movie. 4. This is pretty much what i do. I like to make clear my intentions and hate all these stupid rules on when you should call and whatnot. 7. If im not mistaken, my FJC was about 6 1/2 to 7 hours split over 2 days. I think its better to split it up if you're gonna make it long because i know my attention span isnt the best sometimes. But i was able to retain pretty much all information given to me and feel i am a pretty safe skydiver. Maybe not the greatest but at least im safe. 8. I always make it VERY clear that i wont give skydiving up for the world. so as long as they understand that things will be ok. Im single now so i dont have to worry about it. 12. im actually heading down to florida christmas day and leaving jan 3rd. Im debating on going to sebastian or zhills for their winter boogies. i've been to zhills already and i heard both are good but sebastian is more of a younger crowd when compared to zhills... is this true? any recommendations for where to go? 15. Personally, being that you admit you have a lot to learn(which obviously i do as well) I think you should just learn what you can and not worry about how fast you are progressing. Learn everything you can about this sport and just have fun with it. My first concern is about whether or not my last skydive was a safe one and i evaluate how i can improve on that. Then i worry about how i performed in said skydive in comparison to my personal ability. As far as tracking goes though, some people can track fast. A fast tracker isn't necessarily a good tracker. As a poster said above, a tracking dive isnt about speed but maintaining control during the track. Also, IMO, being concerned with whether or not you're better than someone at something only leads to a skygod mentality. Also, there's pretty much always someone better than you. 16. That was pretty damn cool though. This person does have waaaay to much time on their hands. I wonder what wacko jacko song he uses for a christmas display. He didn't use a Michael Jackson song for the Christmas display. I don't remember who it was but if you look it yo on YouTube you should be able to find it. 17. Im sorry but as cool as this is, this guy has waaaaaay too much time on his hands. First an elaborate christmas light display, now this? Still pretty cool though. http://www.i-am-bored.com/bored_link.cfm?link_id=53911 Life is not a journey to the grave with the intention of arriving in a pretty and well preserved body, but rather to skid in broadside, all used up, and loudly proclaiming: Wow, what a ride!
  18. This skydiving video is like none i've ever seen. A skydiver collides with another skydiver and is knocked out and lands under his reserve after his AAD activates. I've never seen a video this intense before. http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=ciIjdvNo65s&feature=related Mods if this has been posted please delete. I plan on jumping all day tomorrow and i have to go work tonight for the overnight then go jumping right after. Damn its gonna be an exhausting day. 21. i think that article is full of crap. It says something like 29% of people called out of work when not sick... Are you kidding me?I'd bet the number is closer to 75%. My sick days are reserved for when something fun comes up and i have to work that day. not for when im sick. 22. It was suspended not revoked and has been reinstated. ah thanks for the update Life is not a journey to the grave with the intention of arriving in a pretty and well preserved body, but rather to skid in broadside, all used up, and loudly proclaiming: Wow, what a ride!
  23. last time i checked you dont need 25 jumps to do your check dive. you just have to complete all your aff and coach jumps. 24. probably not as cool... while i havent jumped with him, roger ponce de leon jumps at my home dz often. So i feel pretty special that i've been on a plane with him Also i though the USPA revoked Travis' skydiving license due to his stunt of skydiving without a parachute. Guess im wrong. 25. i wore glasses from about 6-16, then switched to contacts, and couldnt have ever been happier. Sure its expensive and worth about 140 jumps but i recommend LASIK if you can do it. I got it and dont regret it at all. Worth every penny. Then you never have to worry about glasses(with the exception of probably needing reading glasses when you get older) again Life is not a journey to the grave with the intention of arriving in a pretty and well preserved body, but rather to skid in broadside, all used up, and loudly proclaiming: Wow, what a ride!
