  1. I saw this on another forum and thought it was pretty funny. If you had to have sex with a celebrity of the same sex who would it be? Be honest. It's just hypothetical. No ones gonna think you're gay... ok maybe people will think you're gay but who cares? It's the internet. Aaaaaaaaaaaand begin! Life is not a journey to the grave with the intention of arriving in a pretty and well preserved body, but rather to skid in broadside, all used up, and loudly proclaiming: Wow, what a ride!
  2. Today marks the day that I make my first AFF jump. I've never actually been nervous about a skydive until now. I think its more so that now its in my hands and not someone else's. Oh well. Here's to my first jump! More updates to come. 3. They do ground school on Wednesday and Thursday night and we do our first jump on Saturday. Don't know exactly why its done that way but it doesn't bother me. I figure its better not to be overloaded with information too fast. 4. Just finished the first day of ground school. Never realized how much shit you actually have to remember. Not quite overwhelming but still a fair amount of stuff to remember. Tomorrow we learn about canopy flying. Then Saturday is the big day! I'll keep you all updated. I absolutely cannot wait to make my first AFF jump. Although the weather isnt looking too good for saturday which would be the day of my first jump. Oh well. Wish me luck and i'll keep everyone updated on my progress in this thread. 8. I don't believe its this all the time. Obviously it depends how its said or the situation its being used in. But at the same time I think its used kind of as a default word. I think sometimes it's easier to tell someone they're cute than it is to say you think they're gorgeous or hot. It comes off almost playful as opposed to blunt. That way if you don't get the reaction you want you don't look so "bad". 9. Good date: you get a blowjob Great date: she swallows......and so does her mom! Hey copying my good date/great date and adding so does her mom is cheating. 11. I'm sure something similar to this has been done before, but I'm too lazy to search for it. I know there's a most memorable tandem student thread but I'm interested in hearing some funny or interesting stories about peoples skydiving experiences in general. Aaaaaaaaaaannnnnnd... begin! 12. That's a perfect time to use my favorite line when being rejected. For those of you who didn't see it earlier ITT ill repeat it. It's "you really shouldn't be so picky when it comes to meeting a guy because I wasn't being picky when I started talking to you." Sometimes throws them off and they don't know what to say. 13. There has never been a documented case of lung cancer in a marijuana-only smoker, and recent studies find that marijuana use is not associated with any type of cancer. The same cannot be said for alcohol, which has been found to contribute to a variety of long-term negative health effects, including cancers and cirrhosis of the liver. and cirrhosis of the liver. It could be interesting to note in the chart the difference between what people usually consider the most likely serious harms associated with marijuana and alcohol. While there has never been a documented case of lung cancer in a marijuana-only smoker, there are clearly thousands of deaths by liver disease directly associated with alcohol – 12,360 in 2003, to be exact. [See, smoker, there are clearly thousands of deaths by liver disease directly associated with alcohol – 12,360 in 2003, to be exact. [See, fastats/alcohol.htm“alcoholic liver disease” is a separate category from“alcohol-induced deaths, excluding accidents and homicides.” Thus the 20,687 cited in #2 (as “deaths from alcohol consumption” could easily be 33,047.] Study Finds No Cancer-Marijuana Connection By Marc Kaufman, Washington Post Staff Writer, Friday, May 26, 2006; Page A03 The largest study of its kind has unexpectedly concluded that smoking marijuana, even regularly and heavily, does not lead to lung cancer. The new findings "were against our expectations," said Donald Tashkin of the University of California at Los Angeles, a pulmonologist who has studied marijuana for 30 years. "We hypothesized that there would be a positive association between marijuana use and lung cancer, and that the association would be more positive with heavier use," he said. "What we found instead was no association at all, and even a suggestion of some protective effect." Federal health and drug enforcement officials have widely used Tashkin's previous work on marijuana to make the case that the drug is dangerous. Tashkin said that while he still believes marijuana is potentially harmful, its cancer-causing effects appear to be of less concern than previously thought. Earlier work established that marijuana does contain cancer-causing chemicals as potentially harmful as those in tobacco, he said. However, marijuana also contains the chemical THC, which he said may kill aging cells and keep them from becoming cancerous. Tashkin's study, funded by the National Institutes of Health's National Institute on Drug Abuse, involved 1,200 people in Los Angeles who had lung, neck or head cancer and an additional 1,040 people without cancer matched by age, sex and neighborhood. 1,040 people without cancer matched by age, sex and neighborhood. They were all asked about their lifetime use of marijuana, tobacco and alcohol. The heaviest marijuana smokers had lighted up more than 22,000 times, while moderately heavy usage was defined as smoking 11,000 to 22,000 marijuana cigarettes. Tashkin found that even the very heavy marijuana smokers showed no increased incidence of the three cancers studied."This is the largest case-control study ever done, and everyone had to fill out a very extensive questionnaire about marijuana use," he said. "Bias can creep into any research, but we controlled for as many confounding factors as we could, and so I believe these results have real meaning." Tashkin's group at the David Geffen School of Medicine at UCLA had hypothesized that marijuana would raise the risk of cancer on the basis of earlier small human studies, lab studies of animals, and the fact that marijuana users inhale more deeply and generally hold smoke in their lungs longer than tobacco smokers -- exposing them to the dangerous chemicals for a longer time. In addition, Tashkin said, previous studies found that marijuana tar has 50 percent higher concentrations of chemicals linked to cancer than tobacco cigarette tar. While no association between marijuana smoking and cancer was found, the study findings, presented to the American Thoracic Society International Conference this week, did find a 20-fold increase in lung cancer among people who smoked two or more packs of cigarettes a day. The study was limited to people younger than 60 because those older than that were generally not exposed to marijuana in their youth, when it is most often tried. Above is the full statement made on the website as well as the article to support it. Nowhere does it say ANY person who smokes weed only won't get cancer. It says there are no DOCUMENTED accounts of people who only smoke weed getting cancer. Next time try reading the entire article rather than assume you know what they're saying. 14. I have no issues with 99% of what they have on the site, but that line is pure BS. I'm not saying weed causes cancer, but I doubt they did much checking on that stat. Hell, I had an aunt who never smoked anything and she died of lung cancer. I'm gonna go out on a limb here and assume you didn't read that entire section because they fully explain how and why they came to that conclusion. Do you know what the term "did not reach statistical significance" means? The statement I quoted speaks for itself and is a silly...make that stupid...conclusion. It insinuates that marijuana is some kind of miracle substance that prvents you from getting lung cancer. I think your getting extremely carried away with your opinions. What could possibly make you think that the statement, "There has never been a documented case of lung cancer in a marijuana-only smoker." implies that marijuana is "some kind of miracle substance that prevents you from getting lung cancer"? On the subject of driving while high, here's an interesting study. It's only 5:30 long. http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=t3zou4F00Ic I thought the same exact thing. Nowhere does it say that marijuana is a miracle drug nor does it insinuate that. It simply states that there isn't enough statistical information relating to marijuana-only smokers and lung cancer to conclude that marijuana is a direct cause of lung cancer. 17. I was never good with pickup lines but here's a good line if you get rejected. "you really shouldn't be picky about who you meet here because I wasn't being picky when I started talking to you." 19. I make blunt wraps for a living. Well they're artificial cigar wraps used by swisher and other cigar companies who don't use real leaves as a wrapper for cigars. But we also make the roll your own cigar wraps aka blunt wraps. I actually like my job mainly because I make good money doing an easy job. And no I have not used said blunt wraps with a certain illegal substance.

  21. So I had this discussion with a friend and I personally would rather have a job I absolutely love and just get by financially over a job I hate making boatloads of money. I personally think id be happier in life having a job I love and just get by. Let's also assume, for the sake of the poll, that you are going to be at said job until its time to retire (no early retirement either). With the job you love you aren't broke but you can't do all the things you would like to do. with the job you hate, you literally despise it. For discussions sake let's also assume that for either job benefits are similar to what one could expect from a similar job. Ok go. 23. ...Very few black people skydive? I have several black friends and every one of them say they wouldn't skydive. Watch YouTube videos and you rarely, if ever, see black people in the videos jumping. Now, to be clear here, I am in no way racist nor do I think negatively about black people. It's just something I've recently observed. Your thoughts please... 24. HA! I told my parents I was gonna do it whether they liked it or not. My dad was completely cool with it and my mom didn't really want me to but once she saw my tandem video she was cool with it. 25. Here's something I've noticed since I started reading this forum. Skydivers as a whole(obviously there are exceptions) seem to be a. Very tight knit group of people. Everyone seems to always be concerned for each others safety and almost always willing to help out new Skydivers whatever way they can(again exceptions are made). But overall Skydivers seem to be a great group of people. And frankly I can't wait to be able to call myself a skydiver and become part of this group of seemingly awesome(again exceptions) people. I start my AFF in April at CPI in ellington, ct. So if you skydive there be on the lookout for me.
