  3. >Breyers mint chocalate chip . Here - here!!! That stuff rocks! It's almost like an airgasm of the taste buds!
  4. From what I've seen everyone from DZ.com who went to Ratoul has returned home safely. Losers like me who didn't go are glad you had a great time and made it back safely.
  5. You can say that again jtval. I didn't go to Rantoul but a couple of aquaintences of mine did. They never returned and nobody has heard of or from them since. Please see their attached picture and if anyone recognizes them and has any information regarding their whereabouts please get in touch soon!!! Thanks
  6. I used to work at the DZ. For almost 10 yrs worth of weekends at 'this DZ' as an Instructor/Jumpmaster/Radio guy/Packing grunt/Gearing up students/Fueling the airplanes and was also the fulltime DZ manager for my last 3 years there. I've also done a few hundred tandems at a DZ in the southwest U.S. and have even worked for a pretty well known gear store at a fairly popular southwestern U.S dropzone for some income filler during the winter season. These filler jobs helped to make certain that I was getting '2 Square' meals a day even if I was lving in the middle of the desert. If I had it to do it all over again? I would jump at that chance in a second!!!
  7. Right on Hohonukai. Couldn't be more behind you.
  8. All of your efforts and the virtual campire you provide for us to hang around in are 'MUCHO APPRECIATED HH!!! Mahalo~

  10. You both have our sincere CONGRATULATIONS and BEST WISHES!!!!! That soooo Rocks!!!!! ...the only burning question is which one of you is going to do the cooking??? Aloha~
  11. Wow!! Sounds like a great guy!!! Congratulations to you both and if you're doing two-ways always make the kiss pass your 1ST POINT!!! Aloha~
  12. Wow!! Glad everything turned out OK slotperfect. It was kind of interesting that my Vector Tandem Examiner had a Strong Cert. Course book on the same table as his R.W. Vector Cert Course book. He referred to it quite a bit throughout the course. Especially during tandem safety issues and in particular side spin phenomenon. The video you referred to is excellant and was a must see before we could be totally written off as Tandem Masters. I've personally experienced two or 'close to and really going to sh*t fast' side spins out of 370 tandems. As I don't have to tell you slotperfect it starts going bad really fast! The theories and suggested methods for recover from this after the hard work of Bill Morrisey, and Ted Strong (ie: Change the mass) do in fact work. This method worked for me both times and it sounds like this same method worked for you. Don't automatically hard arch harder to fight the spin. Instead get into a semi-track as slotp did. Or just change the mass (presentation area). Glad this worked for you brother and welcome to the wonderful world of tandems Very helpful post, Thank You!! Aloha~
  13. can relate to that one too well Then the really cocky jumpers showed up at the DZ with their Strato's.... what the hell?? do they have a death wish or something??!!!??

  18. 0:0:0 We're packing boxes rather than our canopies this weekend. Up side is we're moving across the street from the DZ. Any chance of you saving jtval from that harsh environment and bring him back to the mainland with you??? Slugs and no DZ's??........that's just wrong!!!!!!!
  19. lol That's why we took the pics BEFORE we moved all of our sh*t in there. Once we do we'll probably cut our usable floor space by about half. Still have some room for visiting skydivers though. Aloha~
  20. Man I keep miss stepping all over the place! Guess it's time for me to exit this thread and head out to the DZ.
  21. Sorry Arlo Reading over my reply today it's very apparent to me that I posted it after just getting home from a long hard week of playing the role of whipping post at work and it came out in my post.I was a bit amped up to say the least, sorry to come across as I did. I didn't mean to imply that you hold to a hierarchy in the sport. Unfortunately I know that many others do and I guess I was lashing out at that mentality in general. People like Craig, Shannon, Joey, and Solly have my respect for their dedication and efforts for our sport in all disciplines. As I stated in my post I just never want to discourage newbies from thinking for themselves and not questioning something they see as potentially unsafe. As we've all seen with things such as canopy size and high performance landings there is way too much monkey see monkey do going on these days which some times turns fatal. I truly did not mean to focus my frustration with this problem towards you Arlo. I apologize. Here.... ...Cheers and Blue Skies Brother.
  22. Sorry to hear about the weather there John. Unfortunately it's not the best jumping weather down here either. (I'm told it's because it's close to hurricane season...) Oh well.. At least you have all the good beer over there to compensate!! Oh, and thanks much for the entertainment HH.
  23. Sorry Arlo but what exactly is your definition of 'big boys or girls?' Do you mean are they over 6'1" or they weigh more than 200 pounds? If you mean skydivers experience then IMHO it should have nothing to do with number of jumps or what team they'er on. I personally respect all the effort, discipline, and training that world class teams put into each and every day but that does not make one "bigger" than the rest of us. Some of the most talented people I've personally met and got to know in skydiving (ie: Airspeed, Golden Knights, Clowns, and FlyBoyz) do not come across as "big boys or girls" in conversation or their actions nor do they feel the need to proclaim themselves as such. They don't have to. Their performance speaks for itself. That said; I don't care if I have 1 jump or 10,000 jumps I personally believe we are all an equal part of a very special family in this sport we so love. There should never be an us and them mentality. A couple of people on this post who're newly growing in our sport pointed out something that they weren't quite sure was right safety wise and I applaud them for pointing it out and I hope they never loose that safety concious eye. Even if we can do it cause we're cool. Sorry to ramble with my lowly $.02 Aloha to all and be safe this weekend!!!!
