  1. btw.... the trick to getting over the fear during your first 100 jumps is (if financial possible) to jump as much as possible any and every weekend that you can!!! You'll be amazed at the results!
  2. Wow beautiful pics!!! Did you jump while you were there? Ironic: Right now it's cheaper for my wife an I to fly to Sydney than home (Michigan). Would you recommend the trip? "This is the 4th time I've been late for work this week!!...and it's only Tuesday!" ...Cheech and Chong
  3. hmmmmm wind tunnel time at Perris?...reasonable plane ride from here....some vertical tunnel time...with some coaching...then finally I can "call myself a freeflyer" and still sleep at night....hmmmmm "This is the 4th time I've been late for work this week!!...and it's only Tuesday!" ...Cheech and Chong
  4. Much Mahalos! (thanks much!) Will take that info (add shipping from Hawaii) and endure 2 weeks without jumping
  5. Thanks for the help Scott I hadn't thought of that....not! Story is I'm a teacher and with the time difference here (check the profile) it can be difficult at times to reach people on the east side of the mainland. I don't really have access to that many phones in the classroom. When I get out of work most people are going to bed. Just thought I'd check to see if anyone "who actually owns gear" (totally j/k) had sent theirs in to PD for a reline lately and how the experience was.
  6. Couldn't agree with you more 'Cyber'. Even if one is using a WYSIWYG they should have a working knowledge of HTML. If nothing else for troubleshooting ability as the WYSIWYG's aren't miracle workers and can write some pretty dirty tags (ie. using the Undo feature too much) sometimes. BTW~ killer website!! Is PHP hard to learn? I have no clue
  7. I agree with Natasha, Dreamweaver creates a clean design (I know all the purist hard core web masters will scoff at using an HTML editor but they can be quick) and Fireworks is great for optimizing you images. If you're really desperate you might consider MS FrontPage....(doh!!! did I just say that?)...but I've noticed that it tends to produce pages that have some kind of unexplained cheesy look to them. Call me wierd but if I go to someones' sight I can almost tell immediately if it was built using FrontPage. A co-worker once told me about some free/shareware editor called "FirstPage" that does the same thing. I've never looked at the program though so I can't really say how good it is. 8. No way!! That's just wrong.... ..back in the day at the DZ where I first started jumping there was a plane with the following tail number N569VD. It was the source of endless jokes. "This is the 4th time I've been late for work this week!!...and it's only Tuesday!" ...Cheech and Chong
  9. Back to Richard..... here's another one......http://www.afn.org/skydive/sta/dta/exit-order.txt Hot topic.... here on Hawaii they put FreeFlyers out first. Not necessarily my first choice but opinions are as heated as RSL vs No RSL, Throw out vs Pull out (for FreeFly), Soft Reserve handles...etc. "This is the 4th time I've been late for work this week!!...and it's only Tuesday!" ...Cheech and Chong
  10. Does anybody know what PD is charging for a re-line on the Stiletto these days? Turn around time?? Thanks for the help and info! "This is the 4th time I've been late for work this week!!...and it's only Tuesday!" ...Cheech and Chong
  11. Here try these.... http://www.echoecho.com/html.htm or http://www.htmlgoodies.com/ have patience and have fun! "This is the 4th time I've been late for work this week!!...and it's only Tuesday!" ...Cheech and Chong
  12. Sorry to hear Rhino.... in addition to the previous link you might check out ADAM http://www.mens-divorce.com. Being a former Michigan boy I know they are headquartered in Southfield ( not too far from you) and they have locations all over Michigan. Might have info that can help... Keep up the fight. That's a great looking kid you got there. Good Luck! "This is the 4th time I've been late for work this week!!...and it's only Tuesday!" ...Cheech and Chong
  13. Even on a day when stuck at home (car is in the shop and can't drive up to the DZ ), we can watch the Boyz in Red take the first game!! GO WINGS!!!! Missing "Hockey Town" from Hawaii right now. Life is Good!! "This is the 4th time I've been late for work this week!!...and it's only Tuesday!" ...Cheech and Chong
  14. We've yet to see it (2 more hours due to Hawaiian Standard Time). About a month ago a couple of the ER producers made a few tandem jumps while on a break from shooting for this episode.Kinda cool. Too bad it's so short. The scenery here rocks!! 15. You're right FallRate...too many variables. I once knew a skydiving ant at our DZ. Had a nasty mal one weekend...deployed his "Cricket" reserve a bit low over the local lake. The reserve deployed timely however the weight of his own rig pulled him under and he subsequently drowned. Tragic story to say the least. For what it's worth I believe he was jumping a "Teardrop". Aloha~ "This is the 4th time I've been late to work this week!...and it's only Tuesday" Cheech and Chong
  16. Depends Skyhawk..Is said ant riding in my jumpsuit or on my shoe? If so...what is the single molecular weight of said ant or is it "posing" and using it's capability of carrying 10 to 20 times it's own weight for this ride? Aloha~
  17. Wish we did Remster..."More the merrier"...we always say!(no flames) Truth is, it takes all we can do to pay the landlord and feed the habit @ the DZ (Not sure what climbs higher faster...King Air?? or the bill at manifest at the end of the day?!?!). But there you have it..."Such is Life huh?" There are, however, plenty of skydiving brothers and sisters out here that may(?) present a cheap option for a "Skydiving in Hawaii holiday" Cheers and Aloha~~ go muff!
  18. My wife and I live and jump on Oahu. There used to be a small "by appointment" cessna/tandem concession on Maui but last I heard they haven't been active for years (not sure on this though). Everyone is correct in that there are 3 dz's to choose from. Pacific International (King Air) Skydive Hawaii (King Air "if enough jumpers" and C206) Air Tugie (Cessna 402) It's a pretty good vibe with options (if loads are backed up at one you just walk down the street) Canopy currency is a MUST! The actual landing are is approx. 90yds long by 60yds wide running straight east/west. However you have to cut that in half due to the fact that the most predominent winds are "trade winds" that blow from the northeast and tumble over 60 tall cedars all along the north edge of the dz. This can cause some pretty turbulent conditions at times. Actaully the main reason for not jumping with Kona (south) winds is the fact that just south of the DZ is the 2500 ft Wai'anae Mountain Renge which creates even more turbulence than the trees. Winds average 10-20 daily, steady is the norm, gusty the exception, calmer in the mornings however. All in all it's a great place to jump as long as you stay on your toes under canopy. Be prepared for one thing before you jump!!! Be ready to be overwhelmed at the magnificent view (watch that altitude *smile*wink*). Yesterday we could see both mountain(volcano) peaks on Maui and the "big island" of Hawaii from the King Air. During the winter you can also see whale pods off the North Shore. Amazing! Enjoy and Be safe. Maybe see you out here!! Aloha!
