Why?? Other than the fact that a DZ might be totally surrounded by dangerous obstacles (ie: Ocean, Electrical plant, etc.) I don't understand this requirement. What makes round reserves so dangerous? I mean weren't round parachutes the main deaccleration device used for about the first thirty some years of our sport?? If they are so deadly IMHO I don't think we would be where we are today. Gravity, don't open that can of worms.

True.....that's why I don't have any DaKine gear currently. My budget does not permit. However Chuck is currently teaching my wife and I how to kite surf. Hmmmmm...maybe someday if I save him from a shark attack while surfing he will give me a discount and Dakine kickers!!

I agree. Sorry you didn't hear the tongue in my cheek. I was just relating it to this whuffo question thread. IMHO they (FOJ v.s. Skydiving) are two different animals. Just because I skydive does not in anyway qualify me to run out and make a BASE jump. Whuffos tend to think otherwise though. I use this football v.s. hockey example whenever I answer their BASE questions. Explanation is two different sports even though they share the same type of equipment.

So who plays the master and who plays the "bitch"?

BASE & Skydiving= Parachutes Football & Hockey = Shoulder Pads Same equipment so same sports?????

Sorry to hear jtval. A good ole' fashioned reserve ride might be enough excitment to get one through the drought you're enduring! Is BASE an option? Or would it be grounds for imprisonment there?

The Latest. After walking into work with some nasty scabs on my elbows and forearms which were the result of a downhill longboard skateboard spill I had the pleasure of demonstrating about a month ago. I was asked more than three times the exact same question by a few different co-workers: (Whuffo Co-workers): DUUUDE!! What happened to your arms???..... ..... Right on!! My home is the DZ I grew up as a skydiver on. I was lucky enough to stumble upon the same type of environment rgoper has described on my very first jump. Years later I even had the priviledge of managing the that DZ for three+ years. I don't jump there now (I live about 5000 miles away) but no matter where I live or jump I will always call that place "home"! ...THANK YOU!! to my family who are still there for so warmly welcoming me, and many others into this wonderful sport we all share!!

Actually come to think of it…….. Consider the large number of Asian population here on Hawaii and their historically known tastes for cooked cat and dog. Then throw in the fact that the locals here call their lunch specials (some kind of meat, w/two scoops of rice) a 'Bento plate'.
