  1. No option for "Canopy Transfer before it developed further."
  2. PM sent. ---------------------------------------------- You're not as good as you think you are. Seriously.
  3. We switched to Altitracks for our student program and it has been nothing but good for our students. The are more comfortable with the accuracy of them, their landing patterns have become better, their pull altitudes are on point, I haven't had to dump a student out in AGES, and they like the data logger on the back. Awesome product. ---------------------------------------------- You're not as good as you think you are. Seriously.
  4. I said nothing of the sort. ---------------------------------------------- You're not as good as you think you are. Seriously.
  5. Try paying attention to what is written before you jump off. I simply said I have witnessed female students seek that sort of attention. I do not condone any instructors actions that support this kind of behavior, only noted that it happens. Notice I said "shared blame". Painting all male instructors with the same brush is the bullshit you speak of. ---------------------------------------------- You're not as good as you think you are. Seriously.
  6. FYI- that was all a joke, yet the truth for many male instructors as how to get their attention. If it is, then the student should work with someone else. Before you blame the instructors remember in some cases it's a shared blame. I've seen many female students hunting for something and using skydiving as a method to get it. ---------------------------------------------- You're not as good as you think you are. Seriously.
  7. Is there anything you won't whine about being someone else's fault? ---------------------------------------------- You're not as good as you think you are. Seriously.
  8. This video pisses me off. Assholes like this are ruining MY sport. Everybody has a goddamn camera but they don't have the skill to keep a fucking 4way together?! Who gave these douches a license!?! Sick of it! ---------------------------------------------- You're not as good as you think you are. Seriously.
  9. After I made my reply I read your follow up and saw that were were saying the same thing. Good to know.
  10. I believe you fail to understand the roles and responsibilities of a coach. They have no responsibility towards the safety of the student other than to keep from colliding with them, as the student has been cleared to "self supervise" before being allowed to jump with anyone other than an "I". We might have made a mistake adding a freefall portion to the BIC. It was done to generate interest in the PATH to becoming an instructor, but now it seems to have created an idea that being a coach is what you do in freefall. Being a coach is about what is done on the ground. The only reason for the freefall portion is to observe and evaluate on what was done on the ground, bot for the benefit of the student, and the coach (read:prospective instructor). A Coach should be spending their time as a coach developing their abilities to teach, to observe, and to learn. Any monkey can figure out the flying part. A couple years back 200+ instructors were behind the idea that a coach needed time to marinate, to become more talented in teaching and observational skills before being able to qualify for that instructor title. The USPA shanked it and gave us a half measure, but the point is being a coach is a guided growing process. Camera flying is not. ---------------------------------------------- You're not as good as you think you are. Seriously.
  11. Case, Bill. Case. You are using your common tactic of perverting a singular event that is only marginally related to try to stir the pot and deflect attention from that which you don't agree with. ---------------------------------------------- You're not as good as you think you are. Seriously.
  12. No, maybe someday I will. I also have a small MP3 player that has a voice record mode on it. I think it would work in an upper shirt pocket and be somewhat effective. I would not have to use the C word then. Dan How about you stop mucking about and just focus on the skydiving, eh? 11 jumps listed, and you're gonna tell us what's up? You'don't know what you don't know. ---------------------------------------------- You're not as good as you think you are. Seriously.
  13. For the win! ---------------------------------------------- You're not as good as you think you are. Seriously.
  14. A) You're incorrect about the development of Tandem Skydiving and the intent of those the developed the technology. B) (this is assuming you're taking about US skydiving) Think about what your status to the FAA is when you're riding in the airplane. If you do some research on this, you may see the slippery slope I'm talking about. Get back to me when you've read the regs. ---------------------------------------------- You're not as good as you think you are. Seriously.
  15. Research the FAA's definition of "passengers" and the regulations regarding "carriage" of them, and you'll see one of the best reasons to call and consider them students. Change the wording and you're simply helping us down that slippery slope. ---------------------------------------------- You're not as good as you think you are. Seriously.
  16. It's a 22 ft conical, I hope he wanted to be shorter. ---------------------------------------------- You're not as good as you think you are. Seriously.
  17. Another nutter with natural gas. ---------------------------------------------- You're not as good as you think you are. Seriously.
  18. Just after the Christmas holiday the school I oversee took three students from zero to a license in 4 days. It can be done, if you're up to it. ---------------------------------------------- You're not as good as you think you are. Seriously.
  19. One of my favorite tandem canopies. I jumped it at the single most turbulent DZ I've ever jumped, and I would have no problem doing it again. It is no more susceptible to turbulence than any other tandem canopy I've jumped. It is however a very tapered planform (read: elliptical) and any trouble I've seen people have with it is the way the pilot handled the turbulence and its effects. Key tips: 1) NEVER look up at the parachute on final if you experience a collapse. You won't change anything, and you're taking your eyes off the sight picture of your landing. Reacquiring the picture takes too much time on short final and your reactions will suffer. 2) Don't stop flying at the turbulence, fly THROUGH it. Your job is to land the parachute, not worry about where it is now, but rather where it is going to be. 3) Don't over react. Keep the parachute over your head using the minimum amount of control needed to do so. It is one of the best flying wings out there, but because very few people seek to become GREAT canopy pilots I probably wouldn't put it in the hands of a novice tandem instructor. Maybe after 1000 tandems. ---------------------------------------------- You're not as good as you think you are. Seriously.
  20. Have I long thought the requirement to be a coach should be higher? Yes. Have I thought Coach Course Directors on the whole are too lax? Yes. While I think the requirements should be higher, the check here is the fact they have to operate under the supervision of an instructor, and DZ's that care about the quality of student they produce into skydivers won't allow knucklehead coaches. ---------------------------------------------- You're not as good as you think you are. Seriously.
  21. Yes, because GoPro's just don't have the quality for tandem or other professional video yet. ---------------------------------------------- You're not as good as you think you are. Seriously.
  22. Here's the list of instructions to be successful: Step 1. Get a clue. Step 2. Come back after you get step 1 down. ---------------------------------------------- You're not as good as you think you are. Seriously.
  23. As much as I like him and what he does for this sport, I'll disagree with Jim on this one point. ---------------------------------------------- You're not as good as you think you are. Seriously.
  24. In 13 years of full time skydiving, I've never seen this "shortage" of TI's. And assuming there is a shortage, why would you suspect the the medical is the bottle neck? ---------------------------------------------- You're not as good as you think you are. Seriously.
  25. 1st, I fail to understand your question(s). 2nd. It's pretty clear that the requirements to remain current are the jumps that require the privilege of the rating. I mean wingsuit jumps don't count towards maintaining an AFF rating, do they? ---------------------------------------------- You're not as good as you think you are. Seriously.
