Well you missed Safety Day last Saturday at The Ranch, so that's not so good. A refresher on safety would have been good. Otherwise, make a reservation for a weekday and plan to spend a whole day getting current. You instructor will tell you what you need to do in the air.

I just got back and had a fantastic time. Beach landings are on and we moved up to a Super Otter from Spaceland. The "vibe" is fantastic. The guys from Skydive Houston came down with Fast Andy and we put together a movie and pictorial spread which will be submitted to BSM. There's a good mix of people from Skydive Hawaii, the Ranch, Cali, Arkasas, etc., etc., and we've been partying it up every night and sometimes during the day. Boogie goes until Sunday, so get your jump on.

So taking 358/22 from I-37 to 361 is bad?

There is already an air to air communication device on the market. and they have used it VERY sucessfully on a few big way jumps. Not to mention the value it could have in Canopy relative work. Dont be so quick to dismiss things, with 108 jumps you have yet to see and learn most of what is on offer out there. So have I I immediately thought of CRW as a useful tool but he specified "freefall." Then thinking about it some more, I made the conclusion, as evidenced by the posts below, that walkie talkies in the helmet wouldn't be ideal compared to the current visual acuity and eye contact used with cues to move points. For me, it would change a formation from a team flying a formation to a bunch of people just flying slots. Don't be so quick to dismiss a person with 108 jumps next time. I don't hold your E license against you.

Um, when do you think skydivers have time to talk during freefall?

Last I heard, there were serious issues in retaining retailers. Looks like no one wants to be on a sinking ship. Cabelas has tentatively pulled out. Interest in running the ski slope is up though. The real answer is: who knows?

I was in Belize this past Thursday - a cold front had moved through the area so clouds and wind. The ceiling looked high enough in the morning but the winds were kicking. It lessened up a bit in the PM. Note: I wasn't at the boogie nor did I jump any days. I just happened to be in Belize, swimming in some choppy assed water.

It wasn't very good. The aerial fight scenes were good but the plot and acting were horrendous.

Why not lower the driving and drinking ages too? The same mentality of adults protecting children exist in having a minimum age requirement. Are some 14 year-olds mature enough to jump? I'm sure. Are all? No way. Skydiving is a privilege, not a right. Wait two years, or, spend two years in the tunnel then be ahead of the curve when it's age-appropriate.

I actually looked - there's a 15min $67 R/T airfare on Tropic Air that leaves once an hour and lands at the runway they'll be using, so I'll just need to change to the jump plane. I also emailed to see if it's kosher to come over for a day.

Oh hell yeah. I'll be in Belize on 2/25. Just for the day though...dock at 8am, leave at 4pm. Lemme see about transpo.

Going on a cruise in a few weeks - Miami to Grand Cayman, to Roatan, to Belize, to Cozumel. Looking at hitting up La Playa, by Cozumel. Any DZs that are accessible in the Caymans, Roatan, or Belize?
