  1. Any chance you can install an "Ignore User" option on the control panel? I'm tired of Slyde's spamming and no mod seems to want to do anything about his endless set of rants.
  2. Don't get too excited. It's just a card. Plus, you'll only have it for a short time - the B license isn't too far away.
  3. One more thing - make it a habit to look at the Winds Aloft report 1st thing when you get to your DZ. Figure out the jump run, landing approach, and whether or not you're comfortable jumping in the existing conditions. If the uppers are 40 knots, you really need to know. No sense in fiddling with your gear, turning on your AAD, dirt diving a 15 way, etc., if you're not going to jump.
  4. Meh. I'll hang in brakes while you hurt yourself.
  5. You walked away? I'll go with good landing. In the end, it's your own ass that you have to cover.
  6. I don't know DanBC, but do what the 1st guy does isn't really the smartest thing. I watched the first 15 jumpers bust their asses on downwind landings because no one wanted to change the approach. The only two people to stand up their landings were the fun jumper who waited in brakes and the student who pulled high. I say, check the wind sock(s), and if you have to change the plan, hang in brakes until things clear up.
  7. Oh....ouch. And they cut off his jumpsuit.
  8. It's an IAF tandem progression. The idea of the three tandems is of course, to make $$$, but mainly to focus on altitude awareness, canopy control under supervision, and overcoming door anxiety. I did it that way. I probably would have freaked the F out if I said I wanted to get my license and then they threw me out with two AFF-I's on my very first jump.
  9. What about July? I'm looking to do some tunnel time for my birthday on July 6th.
  10. meh. i was expecting him to dodge lava there wasn't even any smoke AND he landed on a sheet of ice What sort of active volcano has ice? an ice volcano? when it blows, it snows?
  11. We in the US have this thing called the FAA that says the plane needs to have breathable air circuits for everyone if you want to go to 15k.
  12. The Ranch has three Otters, a Porter, and a Cessna, all belonging to Billy, plus his helicopters when he's feeling generous. In the off season, two of the Otters go south to ZHills, and they have a SkyVan.
  13. number of planes number of loads copious amount of landing area with predictable winds nice amenities on the ground cool people doing fun stuff and asking you to join low low prices
  14. my advice is to learn how to use periods. they look like this " . "
  15. don't forget the B-license check dive or 10 (or so) successful formations
  16. I gave it a 4/10. It told me nothing of how to be cool on the DZ.
  17. I learned at 20 jumps on a high wind day. After load 1 where the tandems were flying backwards, I went to the head instructor, and after she told me students were grounded, I asked her to teach me to pack. By the end of the day, about 15 of us learned.
  18. s'up dude. i did the IAF at the Ranch last year. you'll have a blast with pete and linda and marius and tanya. safety weekend is this weekend, so lots of people will be about. schedule your tandem 2 and 3 and ask for linda about the 6 hour course you'll have to take. cya! Victor
  19. except you just admitted it. you always have to watch out for trolling insurance agents. those guys are sneaky!
  20. Don't tell them and don't get hurt skydiving. Or if you do get hurt, get someone to hit you with a car and then call 911.
  21. I went to court-ordered anger management once. I found out that there are many people who are much angrier than I am out there. Lessons learned: Don't leave witnesses.
  22. Well it won't be cheap. No one will debate that. Scroll to the top of this page and click on the "Classifieds" link and follow that to "Complete Systems" to see what things cost. Factor in time and # of jumps when comparing rigs. Or talk to a rigger.
  23. you can see your arms. actively work on keeping them even. get on a creeper and practice checking @ and practice touches with someone watching to see if you're dipping. you CAN bring your arms down so you won't have to turn your head so much. the arch starts in the hips, not the chest. you can't see your legs. try toe taps to stay even. practice on a creeper. get a routine down after your release: altitude, toe tap, instructor, heading wash, rinse, repeat wave off, pull
  24. Word up new guy. The Ranch is still on weekends depending on the weather. Safety Weekend is 3/28 and 3/29 with free recurrency jumps unless you need a signature, else it's $10.
