  1. Well that blows. I thought I fixed the FB accessibility thing. Youtube has been giving me trouble. I shall try again.
  2. Did my 100th a few weeks ago and decided to give it a try, cutting and splicing the video into something semi-decent. I'd love for some feedback since this was my first time working with Premiere and learning on the job. High quality on Facebook:http://www.facebook.com/home.php#/video/video.php?v=257127639366&ref=mf Lower quality on skytu.be:http://www.skytu.be/videos/478/my-100th-skydive Please let me know what you think!
  3. I'm going to have to agree with that since you've stated as fact that I cannot complete sequenced RW jumps that I dirtdive, and that the reason is because I wear a baggy FF suit. It's amazing how omniscient one can be over the internet.
  4. The Ranch is open on the weekends. Check here for updates: http://www.theblueskyranch.com/ If you're here for two months, go to FreezeFest at Crosskeys: http://crosskeysskydiving.com/
  5. I RW in a freefly suit. It's not so bad. The bagginess does slow me down enough (I'm 5'10"/200) to fly with smaller peoples. I do have to still fly big though. Unfortunately, this is a sport dominated by small people with no muscle mass. About other people and grips - not so much a problem on the arms taking a grip. A little harder on the legs because of how the fabric flies and how it's harder to just grab someone's leg like you would an arm. The toughest part would be linked exits where others would just grab my legstraps. In the end I end up flying Tail so no one has to grab me. In the end, get what you want. You can always get grippers sewn into your suit if you find it that much of a disadvantage, and then get yourself a new FF suit.
  6. werd. Florida is crazy cold right now. Try Dubai.
  7. Not all of us have family all over the world. Going to Mustang Beach in March?
  8. Ran out of money, so only 24 jumps. No night jumps. Did my 100th, and left before everyone got there. I need a family that doesn't expect me to be there for Christmas.
  9. Dude. AFF IS for you. If you can't complete the basic skills required of AFF, then you shouldn't be in the sky, period. If you think AFF is getting in the way, you really need to talk to some people about what falling out of a plane is about. Stop focusing on failing. If you read the diveplans, you know what you have to do to pass. Focus on those skills. Focus on how you would turn. Focus on how you'd get off your back. STOP WHINING.
  10. tunnelcoach.com Ask for Sally. She won two golds in the world's women's 4way.
  11. Wasn't this on your A-license test? I'm pretty sure the SIM has important information about the differences between 7 and 9 celled canopies.
  12. Get your license. Get off of student gear. Learn more.
  13. I wear a snowboarding helmet. It's got better head coverage, especially at the back of the neck It's made for impact resistance. And, it's padded and insulated for cold days at altitude. It also only cost me $60 instead of $200.
  14. I didn't know that. I know 2 instructors that say 200. Maybe it's because I was "particularly talented." It just goes to show how new it still is. There is still the debate in the USPA as to what should or shouldn't be done to oversee wingsuit instruction. Just remember that the 1st fatality this year happened with a 2nd time wingsuiter with 103 jumps.
  15. except if......you're cutting away
  16. you have to do water training. when you do it doesn't matter. where you do it doesn't matter either. any DZ with an AFF-I and a hole in the ground filled with water can do it. no need to schedule. just wait for a really rainy or windy day and do it then.
  17. the only two questions i got wrong on the B test were about the pilot -how long must a pilot wait after having an alcoholic beverage before he/she can fly? -how far from the base airport can a pilot go and discharge skydivers? both answers are at the VERY end of the SIM
  18. I found it easier to open and close the Otter doors in small increments as opposed to He-Man-ing it open and closed. Little at a time and you can make sure no one gets stuck in the finger grinder. Edit: and open the door from the middle, not the sides. And yes, it's all weather dependent, but right now it's the summer and sort of hot, at least here in NY.
  19. Easy for Otters. Right before takeoff, close the door. DO NOT SLAM THE DOOR 1000ft - check for seatbelts off....open the door all the way 6000ft - close door until jump run DO NOT SLAM THE DOOR In case of stinky fart, crack the door open Door light goes on, open the door all the way. Start spotting for yourself. Green light - take your sweet assed time for all the people who yelled at you in the plane about operating the door. Jump, pull, and set the landing direction.
  20. I have no idea what a Vengence looks like, but could you, one at a time, invert a cell and then used pressurized air to blow off the sand? Like the kind of canned air you can get for cleaning keyboards?
  21. Meh. James Bond did it without a rig and without a pilot.
  22. Skydive LI is having a boogie on August 1, so you could check that out.
  23. What do you mean? Plane goes up, plane comes down. Everyone else signs a waiver.
