  1. What the manufacturer recommends and what actually happens in the real world are 2 very different things. That is why saying a tandem rig costs u $50-70 per jump is a false economy. I looked into it a while ago and saw that the manufacturer recommended that u throw the main in the bin at 1000 jumps. Now we all know that there is not a dz in the world that will bin a tandem canopy after 1000 jumps. So while on paper $50-$70 per jump looks dandy no way does it really cost that in the real world.
  2. Welcome buddy, one day youll be a awesome base jumper with all that experience as an acrobat. Maybe the next Dwain Weston (rip).
  3. How does this sound. 20 year life on a vigil for $1299 = $65 per year yours is 3.5 years old so 1299 - 227 = 1072. Maybe a bit less seeing as its a vigil 1. Also depends on how old the battery is in yours. hope this helps.
  4. IS there any reason u cant buy a rig made for a tallish guy and get your local rigger to extend the leg straps to suit your height?
  5. can anyone help me on how to adjust the manual focus on the cx-155? when u go into settings and choose manual there are 2 arrows with a face on the left and mountains on the right if i press either of these it comes up with 0.1m but that is all? WHat am i doing wrong and what range should i be setting it at? thanks people.
  6. aads are compulsory at my dz.
  7. Is the only way to record with the cx-150 and the screen closed to use a hypeye d ? According to the instructions as soon as u close the screen the recording stops. Is the cx-100 the same? thanks guys.
  8. i heard of a guy who paid $2500 over here in australia...
  9. Maybe u can insert some sort of foam or padding into the box to stop it from moving around.
  10. if one of them records direct onto the memory card then that should work okay.
  11. If i could offer any advice with downsizing then what i struggled with was flaring. I was flaring too late and landing hard because i wasnt finishing off my flare. This was due to the extra speed i was moving and that i was starting my flare too late and therefore i didnt have enough height to finish it off. I doubt that you will notice any difference going from a 300 to a 280. cheers
  12. i reakon that if u hunt around u could put a rig together. This is my plan flik 322 or 354 canopy Look for a javelin j8 that should fit it and maybe a 280 odd raven reserve. I know of a guy who was selling a j7 jav for a good price, dont know if he still has it though.
  13. how much do u want for this rig mate? pm me pls

  16. struggling to find any german forums. Can anyone help me out?
  17. Anyone have any info on topflyer containers made in Germany ? I think weckbecker made them. I have a container made by topflyer and need a letter from the maker showing it has passed the testing required in Germany or a similar tso document . Thanks for your help.
  18. Our dz in australia has cloud clearance and i did exit once in the middle of a cloud which was fun. We quite often jump with a full layer of cloud around 4k so when we jump we cant see any ground at all, just fluffy white clouds. I suppose we trust the pilot and the gps to drop us off where we should be. Havn't had a problem so far.
  19. Yeah mate anyone can make a base container and jump off a building with it strapped to their back. If you find out that u fucked it up you dont really have much time to fix it though...
  20. Its funny how people are telling him that he is going to die because he jumper camera with only 100 jumps.... In australia u are allowed to jump camera after 100 jumps not 200.
  21. All i know is that i wouldnt want to be turning up to do my first tandem knowing that the guy who packed my canopy was "inexperienced" and had a "very limited skydiving knowledge" thats for sure. Sounds a bit dodgie to me.
  22. Dont know where u get the idea that i am going to raise "hell". I have travelled internationally a number of times with my scuba gear on me. Nearly every time i do get asked to open up my carry on luggage which i am quite happy to do. I happily remove the gear which is mostly regs and alot of hoses and show the airport people and they are happy so i put it all back and say thank you and move on. So your telling me that if i turn up at a us border check and a couple of guards with guns who know nothing about skydiving gear tell me they are going to privately tamper with my rig and i simply say "look guys that rig is my life i would like to please be present with you when you inspect it". If they said no i would certainly ask if i could speak with your supervisor please. I am and have been on the other side checking peoples bags and belongings for along time. Before i started skydiving and having known absolutely nothing about a skydiving rig if i had this scenario happen to me i would certainly understand that this is life saving equipment that i know nothing about and its a fair request that this guy is asking. If a border guard gets upset about a request like this then they need to go back to school and learn some common sense.
  23. Maybe try to simulate the jump during a skydive and figure out what your actual glide angle is. At least that way if u come up short u wont be in any danger of landing in the trees. good luck and get some video for sure. I would love to come along for a jump like this.
  24. Well im sorry for being so nervous about a 2 bit security guard who has never seen a rig before messing with mine when my life depends on it. I dont give a shit if he has a gun or not. Any reasonable person should understand why u would be concerned. p.s. I myself am also a 2 bit security guard...
  25. I would have stood my ground and told them that no one touches my rig unless i am there to watch them. If they are not happy with this then go and get the supervisor. My rig is my life and no one touches it unless i am watching them... Unless its my dam 2 year old who went for a low pull the other day when i SHOULD have been watching her...
