  1. Went on a road trip over the past 5 days, got back yesterday. 14 hours on the road, managed to get some shots of the South African landscape.
  2. The following scam has been reported: Click here to read more about these kind of scams. Remember: DO NOT do business with anyone who offers to send you payment for a higher amount than your selling price with the understanding that you'll send back the balance. Be suspicious of anyone claiming to be acting on behalf of a "client" or another "customer". Be suspicious of anyone claiming to be from Nigeria or West Africa If you agree to accept a check payment, then do not send anything, gear or "change" before the check cleared. And be careful, if you manage to clear a fraudulent check then you may be liable for the damages if the bank finds out later. Make sure your bank authenticates the check. If it sounds to good to be true, then it probably is.This username has been disabled.
  3. I'll answer as a former Christian. While having read the bible, I don't know enough of it off hand to say what the bible has to say on this in particular, but I can tell you what all the previous churches I attended said about this. In the Baptist Christian churches, at least in my experience they definitely didn't promote the idea that anyone who doesn't know about Jesus goes to hell. In fact they said that those who have not heard of the Lord shall go to heaven because while they never accepted Jesus as such, they never denied him either; they used this same angle in regards to children. All those who deny Jesus after being 'enlightened' go to hell, but those who don't have the opportunity to hear 'the word of God' are forgiven automatically for their sins because they are not aware that what they are doing is wrong. Of course, the primary problem is that you're seeking logical thought in religion. You will struggle to find any - One would think being all powerful, God would have been able to establish a better guideline for judgement, and be sure to communicate it with the writers of the scriptures very clearly, seems a lot more important than stoning homosexuals.
  4. Noted, this has been added to the list of bugs to fix.
  5. When it comes to morality and religion and atheism, I pasted a link a few weeks ago that addressed the matter flawlessly in about 30 minutes. http://www.atheistnexus.org/video/theoretical-bullshits-treatise The guy doing it is actually a soap actor, but his youtube videos under the name theoreticalbullshit are actually extremely good.
  6. Thanks, will forward the information along.
  7. Similar - Also the first link in your post. As for the other two: http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=3khTntOxX-k http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=SVp-zIONsrs Not as macho as the Terminator theme, but they all served their nostalgic purpose. In fact, listening to the Neverending Story theme song makes me all emo with the thought of mortality, god damn you nostalgia.
  8. Best: NOFX or Have Heart. Worst: So many local bands fit in this slot.
  9. Thanks for bringing this to our attention, I will forward the information to those who handle the advertising and see if we can get it corrected quickly.
  10. An excellent idea actually, I could definitely see an ebay type ratings system (though maybe a bit less detailed) working in the classifieds. A simple positive or negative review for each item which is then reflected next to the seller's name, with the ability to reply from the seller - much like most e-commerce sites have. Will definitely be adding this idea to the list of possible additions. Thanks.
  11. I think I'll relate more to them than I do to most people my age :P And amen. There's this girl I know, she is 22 now. Her mother gives her around R8000 ($1000US - 700 Pounds) pocket money per month, still buys her stuff, and pays for her college - and yet all she does is moan. Last week she was complaining because she spent R14 000 on her mothers credit card and then her mother took it away. Worst part is I'm relying on her for accommodation next week so I can't be as blunt as I would normally. Then of course I have a whole separate list which would only belong in the SC.
  12. This could be fun... Things that piss me off. - People who smoke near me. - People who smoke around their kids. - People who get drunk around their kids. - People who are drunk that try to communicate with me in obnoxious, loud ways. - People who do drugs. - People who stand around at punk shows. - People who moan about politics constantly as though it's going to change it. - People who talk too loud in restaurants. - People who let their kids run around shouting while in nature reserves. - People who litter. - People who hunt. - People that push up against you while in lines. - People who don't discipline their kids when they throw fits in shopping centres. - People who wear Ed Hardy. - People who are new-age hippies. - People that are too scared to say what they think. - People who think humans are somehow worth more than other creatures. - People who are claim being right without even understanding both sides. - People who help shows like MTVs Sweet 16 and 16 and Pregnant or whatever that crap is exist. - People who support the over population of humans. - People who breath. Just a few...
  13. A politician who says things to please those who have the power to keep him in his position. Well I've never... If anyone thinks that there is going to be a democratically elected politician that is going to be truthful and straight up on every topic and not try to say what people want to hear, they will be waiting until their death. A politician is a politician, you're not going to get anything more. Lesser of 2 evils etc.

    Geeking out

Hah. I got a message on facebook from my tattoo artist asking me to go in to check some of her PC stuff out as she just got it when they designed the shop. So my lunch hour involved going there and showing her how to use the aux plugs on the hi-fi to relay music from the computer. Then going through the software and explaining what each thing does and how cracking of pirated software works (Not that I'd ever endorse that ). And showing her how to rip CDs onto the hard drive and add them to play lists. Followed by going home to work on my own site and look for mobile forum extensions to give users better flexibility when viewing for a mobile device. Not very geeky, apart from the fact that my tattoo artist thinks of me first when they need help with trivial computer stuff. Though I'm not complaining, tattoo discounts.
  15. Whether or not it's my bed she's in.
  16. A worthy sacrifice in the name of boobies!
  17. Some zombie make-up. Pretend to be a zombie, and head straight towards the nearest sexy unarmed women with zombie arms out, with hands facing up instead of down though That would constitute a boobies vote right?
  18. I can do with #3, as long as I can do the same back.
  19. As much as I love a good trolling, this isn't the site for it. Oh wait, look at that - you went for a straight personal attack too. Consider this your first and last warning. Edited to add: And no I'm not issuing the warning on his original post, the post with the personal attack and admitted pleasures of trolling are now hidden.
  20. Hmm, having researched this warning message, the "Mal_Hifrm" is said to be a low-threat, non-destructive entity. I'm reluctant to contact the advertising team to investigate the ads until another person reports the issue. As last time when there was an issue numerous people came forward. For now, I'd just recommend clearing out your IE cache. I also encourage anyone else who may experience such a warning to come forward so we can see if the problem is originating from the ad server. Thanks for letting us know.
  21. Sick shot! That noise should be quite easy to remove though, at least I found it to be fairly easy with my old lightning shots (using Rebel XT and Kit lens). Setting up photoshops noise reduction setting sliders to the right value. (The default sucks, I remember finding good settings on some tutorial sites). And then running 2 or 3 noise reduction passes should get 80%+ of that noise out the way, and not have to soften the edges too much.
  22. I'll chirp in with the sharpness topic - My close up animal portraits are currently shot with a sigma 70-300mm which is extremely soft at the 300mm end. Until recently I had done some post-processing on my shots such as temperature balance, light fill etc. The typical RAW post-processing. But spending more time on photography sites lately, I've noticed that almost every professional photographer (specifically wild-life photographers) use sharpening quite a lot if an image appears soft. Even when they're shooting on 600 primes they sometimes add a touch of sharpening. I have lightroom and photoshop CS5 (cs5 is amazing compared to the older versions). I'd definitely recommend CS5, the panoramic area of the program is greatly improved over older versions, and the content-aware area deletion is sometimes very useful, random bird flying past ruining the composure of a landscape shot is no longer a problem. The Camera RAW editor is extremely useful though, giving one full flexibility over your photos (if you shoot in RAW, which I try do each time). Lightroom does offer you with a lot of useful abilities and sometimes I just use lightroom. Anyway, back to sharpening. It will always help to sharpen your images, in essence all it's doing is correcting your lenses shortfallings, and as long as one doesn't go crazy with the sharpening, it doesn't look un-natural in any way. Camera RAW offers several methods of sharpening, a JPEG image can be sharpened with the Unsharp Mask which works well too, though prefer the flexibility of RAW.
  23. Yeah the primes are great and the 400mm L 5.6 isn't that badly priced considering. (Probably around $1200 or less). I would love the 600mm primes (or better yet the one in your link haha). But I could save for the rest of my life and still probably not be able to afford one. I'm really into landscapes as well (storm chasing and storm cell structures), I recently purchased the Sigma 10-20mm. Though if one has the bit extra cash the Sigma 8-16mm looks great as well. Not as quick as a 2.8 so wouldn't be ideal for sport, though at that width it's solely for landscape anyway, but a very nice looking piece of glass the 8-16mm.
  24. Thanks for the info. Was up in Bloemfontein earlier this year for a music festival and ended up coming across 2 giraffes crossing the road about 20 feet from us, one can't really appreciate their size until you experience them with your own eyes :) I've been looking at all the options for a new telephoto lens lately. Between the 70-200 with extender, the 100-400mm L IS or the 400mm 5.6 prime. Finally settled on the 400mm prime (one of the sharpest pieces of glass ever made). While not having IS, I've only heard good things about it. Apparently really good handheld as well which will suit me well with bird shots. The 70-200mm offers some good speed if you only need 200mm.
