  1. In certain areas this is true, unfortunately the tsunami damage seems to be most visible in the farming areas and the small towns. Sendai looks to be almost completely destroyed from these shots. Tsunami warnings now out for Russia, Hawaii along with many others. This will be a historic event.
  2. Live stream a bit overwhelming at present. They just had a helicopter view of the tsunami live as it was taking out entire towns. I expect the death toll to be in the thousands. Between 6 and 10 meter tsunamis possible.
  3. Extremely strong earthquake hit Japan about 40 minutes ago, first preliminary numbers were around 7.3 which were then lifted to 7.9 and now 8.8! Damage is widespread with confirmed tsunami. http://twitpic.com/48dplx
  4. Well you've definitely got the idea down, the composition on that first image is rad. I'm a big fan of symmetry in shots and the use of shapes. I'd definitely recommend getting a DSLR camera to anyone though. You can pick them up for as little as $200-$250 second hand these days. I'm still shooting on an entry level DSLR (Canon 350D) but the clarity one can achieve with a DSLR and the ability to utilize the settings to achieve a desired effect can't be matched with point and shoots.
  5. I think just not having children would solve that more effectively, and far less devastatingly to those involved. But I'm all for slimming down the population.
  6. There's no logical reason not to support it. Or if someone thinks there is, please state it. Both alcohol and tobacco are things that one should have the right to consume in the case that it affects no one else. But that both have no good reason to be advertised and promoted. They're extremely dangerous and addictive, sure it's great for those in the industries, they get to make more money by using marketing schemes to get people addicted etc. Advertising and marketing has no affect on one's personal freedoms to consume it. With that said, I think the idea of trying to cut cigarettes out of movies scenes and things like that, is well... retarded.
  7. It's okay, England still have another 2 South Africans to rely on in their squad.
  8. I've disabled her username now, shouldn't be able to contact anyone else.
  9. Thanks. Yeah, photography is the one thing that can actually keep me going, and keep me somewhat sane. I rely heavily on nature typically. I'm a storm chaser, so weather is also a big part of what I love. I've been pretty toned down on spontanious people portraits and stuff, I feel really awkward when pointing a camera at a person, hah. 10. Thanks guys. Point and shoot photos have inspired me in the past :) One of my favourite shots I've taken was with a 3.2MP Canon point-and-shoot. (attached) A bit of noise can be over-looked :P
  11. Thanks :) The child is my niece. Wow, that sunset is amazing. I'm a big fan of silhouette shots and sunsets. Extremely crisp and noise free too.
  12. I was looking for photography threads of people sharing their shots, but most of the ones I saw were from 3+ years ago, so I thought I'd create another, as I'm getting back into photography again and it's always rad to see others stuff. Just got my sigma 10-20mm in the mail today, haven't got to use it yet... But here are some shots taken from 2010 - Now to get it started.
  13. Eighth of February?! The British have the ability to manipulate time too?! They are indeed to be feared.
  14. The following scam has been reported: Click here to read more about these kind of scams. Remember: DO NOT do business with anyone who offers to send you payment for a higher amount than your selling price with the understanding that you'll send back the balance. Be suspicious of anyone claiming to be acting on behalf of a "client" or another "customer". Be suspicious of anyone claiming to be from Nigeria or West Africa If you agree to accept a check payment, then do not send anything, gear or "change" before the check cleared. And be careful, if you manage to clear a fraudulent check then you may be liable for the damages if the bank finds out later. Make sure your bank authenticates the check. If it sounds to good to be true, then it probably is.This username has been disabled.
  15. I've hidden several posts concerning safety records and speculation thereof. If you are going to discuss safety issues in terms of statistics, make sure you have data to back up the claims.
  16. Mods typically will not delete any charity events, though if something 'suspicious' is noted, it may be discussed in the team room to find out if it was approved. So one won't typically have to worry about it being removed if you've asked permission. One can private message me with the details of the fund raising event.
  17. We received more than 1 scam report on this user, with both users he had used the exact same contact template when inquiring about the item.
  18. And Godwin's Law strikes again ;P The one thing I don't get though, is that if females earn so much less because they are women, why do businesses bother to hire men at all then? As a business you want to cut expenditure and raise profits, wouldn't the most effective way of doing this then to hire an all women staff team? Surely business owners aren't dumb enough to put put sexism above profit? I'm in no way saying that men are more worthy than women, but the only logical reason I can think of for a business to hire men instead of women when they pay women less, is if they feel that the men tend to perform better with their business module and in the end are more profitable.
  19. I can say that I've gone through the list of scam reports over the past 2 days and I can't see one mentioning the user you are. You can try re-report the user, or you may private message me a copy of the e-mail from said scammer.

  21. It does make a lot of sense. There are issues in that article that are simply true and yet not really thought about by many people. Whether someone wants to get married or not is entirely up to them and I see no reason to try discourage one if it's what they want. But it is very interesting reading which touched on a lot of subjects that make one think. The writing wasn't just some rant on the usual negative throw-outs against marriage, but rather brought to light some of the issues which are considered protocol, despite them lacking sound reasoning and in many cases being blatant hypocrisy.
  22. You will probably need to give yourself permission to delete the item since they are protected by default. On the folder of the virus reg key on the left, right click and then click on 'permissions'. From here you should be able to select a list of users and then give that user the permissions, give the administrator and the user you're currently on full access to do everything. And then you should be able to delete. Next, I'm not sure how this exact virus/trojan/malware is doing it's business, but I'd recommend trying to find out if it is possibly running through a processor like most do, to check this - ALT + CNRL + DEL and check your processor list, look for anything that may be suspicious (though this may not help if you aren't used to the regular processors). Next I'd recommending restarting your computer in safe mode with networking. This should prevent unwanted executable processors starting up automatically. Next, I'd try to located where the software has been installed, due to the registry key it looks like it's installed software, so go to your program files, arrange by modified and see if you can see anything that may relate to the virus software. If you do find it, delete everything in that folder - it is important to be in safe mode when you do this as if the processor is running from an .exe file in that folder it won't let you delete it. If you manage to do that, try start your browser (in safe mode) and see if you can download a free anti-virus program, then run that to try clean up what may be left of the virus, assuming you have removed the main core files.
  23. Can't say that if the OP had been accurate it would have been shocking to those living in South Africa, fairly often here, the paramedics will be robbed while attending to an accident. Typically those involved in the accident are prone to being robbed too, if you flip your car in the wrong area, you can expect your phone and wallet to be stolen off your injured body.
  24. And once again thanks for adding no insight and incorrect statements. Good thing you didn't try to address all the other facts that have been discussed, it'd probably end up in an equally as pointless mess of a post. I never 'came to that realization', it's pretty obvious that if an all powerful and all knowing God that knows more than humans did that he would... well... be just that? It's like saying "Santa Clause lives in the North Pole and delivers presents... If you thought that this Santa Clause existed, would you believe he lived in the North Pole and delivered presents?"... Why the hell not, that's what he is described to be? For him to exist he'd have to be that. Then what value does the question hold at all? No one is denying that if God did exist he would be smarter than humans. The only thing I can assume you're trying to say is that we don't know God's workings so we can't justify his doings or prove his existence, but since we don't know we can assume that he exists? You can't possibly be trying to say something so absurd... As I said, for that statement to even make the slightest bit of sense in any way, one has to already assume that God exists. And the analogies may be over-used but they're extremely effective as they parallel your thinking in every way except for object in question, yet they are without valid reason rejected. So here is another: The universe has always existed, but since we are merely a small part of the universe with so much left to discover, wouldn't our understanding of science be so limited that we wouldn't understand the concept of infinity and existence without creation? And then I'm back on par with your so-called logic. Making assumptions and then using the "we'd never really know" to prove that assumption. As said before... The statement can be used for any single theory one proposes, it holds no weight and is a weak concept that outlines the flawed 'logic' that people try to use. Wonder why that is? Oh yes, that's right... Because for centuries people only knew the universe as the world they saw before them. They thought everything needed a creator because that's the principle here on earth, they thought that time existed in space the same way earth time does... They were only recently in the context of things, shown otherwise. Only recently have humans even begun to understand the differences between the universe, quantum physics and what they saw with their eyes. Naturally they're going to think everything needs a creator when that's all they've been used to when looking at life on earth, which is only a very small part of the universe. If your argument even had any weight it would show humans over time worshiping a similar God, instead previous religions had a separate God for different parts of the world, a different God to describe different scientific and astrological events. Believing in something larger and more powerful is/was human nature, but too bad your Abrahamic God was never followed until only a couple thousand years ago. Showing it's the concept that is human nature, not the god itself. Your God only really spread when it was pushed outwards, people just grabbed onto it in areas because they had that same human desire to want to explain things but didn't have the scientific means back then to do so. Luckily as time goes on we won't need to resort to backwards faith to determine how things work.
  25. Haha well now I can prevent you from moving a bit more ;) The only problem with that statement is that you haven't, not in any way. What you have provided is a theory for creation. Nowhere have you shown that he is needed for design. And in return I have provided you with the statement that says if infinity exists, there is no need for God as something can exist from nothing. To show me God is needed for design you'd have to prove that 'design' cannot happen by random and by proving this it would mean you have conquered the exact same thing Einstein spent decades trying to prove, but could never despite having the works on his death bed during his last days. And until you do, God is not NEEDED for design and is merely 1 more theory with no extra validity. I think not, I know many Christians and many Atheists and there is no difference in their character when it comes to being decent human beings. Irony of it is that the Christians are often the more violent, aggressive and drunken ones. God isn't the thing that keeps one's morals in check, I know this because as I've stated I was Christian for 18 years and after which I didn't become a rogue evil person, the only thing that changed was I started to blaspheme. And as a previous poster has said they were never a believer and yet they were never a terrible person... That's got nothing to do with God, the values the bible teaches are just basic values for living in society and have nothing to do with God. Since you brought this up I'll assume you didn't watch that video I posted earlier in the thread, when you find time I suggest you do because he addresses this exact issue, about morals being anything that makes other people happy and healthy. And to live in a society and succeed as humans we need to have these characteristics because if you make people feel shitty and you're a dick to them constantly, you will only be shooting yourself in the foot since we live in communities. It's a fairly long video but he addresses this matter flawlessly.
