  1. Having a big ass party and watching the pack bring the Lombardi trophy home to the real title town!! The mood here in Wisconsin is nothing short of electric! I was lucky enough to spend all day at Lambeau Filed yesterday partying.
  2. Hmmm you live in a seedy neighborhood and you are a know drug dealer. Could those guys busting down your door be a group of tweakers or gangbangers yelling "police-search warrant" to get you to let your guard down so that they can get into the house and rob you? Could the people that quickly yelled "police search warrant" be someone coming to attack you and kill you over a bad drug deal? This tactic has been used by gangbangers and robbers to get people to let their guard down and let people in, only to be victimized. The other problem is how many times have you heard of cops getting the wrong address? So now lets change the scenario and say the cops got the wrong address and are knocking down the wrong person's door with a no knock warrant. They now have shot someone that was simply half awake that may not have heard the warrant claim and is simply protecting his family or property. It's doubtful this guy clearly heard the "police search-warrant" through a door and most likely while he was asleep. What is likely is that he woke up to some muffled yelling and his door getting busted in so he did exactly what 90% of us would do and responded by trying to protect his property with the assumption that he was about to be robbed or victimized. I know if I woke up to the sound of people fucking around my house, muffled yelling, and then my door coming down I'd likely respond with a pistol or shot gun in my hand. I realize the cops are trying to work with the advantage of surprise, because typically it's easy to take someone into custody when they are half asleep and unprepared for your visit. But they also have to realize that people by nature are going to try to protect their property and may not clearly hear you making the claim of your warrant, and also may not know for sure and have no way to confirm that you are actually the cops. I relly think it's time to examine other tactics than to knock people's door down in the middle of the night and "hope" everything goes smoothly, and "Hope" they hear and comprehend that it's the cops at the door and not somoene trying to victimize them.
  3. Jared was a deranged violent person. When you take the gun out of a violent deranged persons hand you are still left with a violent deranged person. When are we going to start dealing with the sources of the problem instead of the inanimate tool they use to carry out their deranged issues? Someone hell bent on killing a group of people standing outside a store can do it with a pipe bomb (atlanta olympics), driving a vehicle into the group (culver city CA 3/16/06), or any other means of ending peoples life. Judging by whats been released of this guys writings he would have found a way to carry out his attack even if he didn't have a gun.
  4. It's some sticky stuff dude. Clean the helemt well before and you should be good. I've jumped all season with just the adhesive it's it's still firmly in place. I saw a video once whenre they were pulling on the mount from different angles with lots of weight and the bracket was physically breaking before the sticky would let go.
  5. We are loaded open carry. You'd be amazed the amount of people that have no clue of the laws, but love to spout their ignorance for all to listen. I'm amazed how many times I've been told "you can't carry loaded', or been asked for my "permit" that doesn't exist.
  6. sooooo back on topic. Don't feel bad, shortly after getting my A I was packing very very quickly and obviously didn't notice a step through. I about shit my pants when I opened and looked at my risers. I kida freaked and didn't know what the hell was wrong at first. But I did a controllability check and everything worked fine and the twists were all the way down above my rings so I landed it just fine with no problems. Suffice to say I learned a big lesson and took it very seriously and was very hard on myself for missing something so evident. Every once in awhile in skydiving you slip a little, most of the times you get lucky, DO NOT take those for granted or become complacent. Every time you or someone you hear about "slips" analyze it an try to learn from it! This is why I didn't try to hide from the people that I jump with that I fucked up. I actually pointed it out and had a discussion about it.
  7. Open carry is the ONLY way to currenty legally carry in Wisconsin. I do so regularly and have been harrassed by the police multiple times and even proned out once. All for following the law to the letter as specified by our ex governer and our state attorney general. Our senate and house passed concealed carry twice but the governer vetoed it even after a statewide advisory referendum overwhelmingly supported CC. We now have a new governer.
  8. Looking to mostly to work on freefly stuff (a stable head down if possible in a tunnel? and transition from sit to head down.), but am open to getting comfortable on my belly first. I guess I don't have a hard set goal, becuase I'm not completely sure what to expect and how I'm gonna do.
  9. I've never been in a tunnel and will be in Tahoe for a week so I'm gonna make the drive to San Fran to hit up the tunnel. I'm curious how the time works. Like if I buy 10 mins (to be used in a 30 min slot) do I stay in the full ten or do I do something like two in two out and the clock stops on my time each time I come out? How much time would you guys reccomend for a first timer? If going by yourself does it make more sense to get a couple smaller blocks of time than to buy a large block of time?
  10. So if you go volunteer at a soup kitchen, or help habitat for humanity do you do it "for the recognition" of doing something? Do you do it to make yourself look better? Do you tout it to your freinds and collegues to improve your image and make others think highly of you? If you answered yes to any of the above you are a selfish pig. The only reason you should be doing anything is for the self satisfaction of helping others and to make those you are helping feel better. By the sounds of your post I believe this borders on what you are promoting?
  11. (hand to forhead smack) yea this is something at work that we would call "the dreaded loose neutral". lol. We also have an "Award" for the process of throwing lots of parts at and overthinking a problem only for it to be something stupidly simple. It's funny cause it's named after an individual that was famous for this. Good to hear your back up and running. I too will be fixing the oven this weekend so I feel your pain.
  12. Wow...lol. I've bow hunted here in WI in late december staying in a tent sleeping in nothing but a arctic/winter weight mummy sleeping bag and I lived just fine. The time I did camp in a park with electric outlets and brought a heater I woke up overheated in the night and shut it off. I have used the electric blanked thing a few times when it was "too warm" out for the arctic weight bag and that was fine. From all the "cold weather" stuff I've seen on here lately I am really starting to think us northern folks are a "different breed". lol
  13. One other thought. Did you check the voltage going to those sensors and make sure it's a 24v dc plus or minus like one or two volts max? Maybe the power supply is flaky?
  14. The diaphram was going to be my next suggestion. Although there should be a fault just for that interlock. Do you have a copy of the wiring schematic? The last thing that I saw kicking out a residential furnace that I worked on was the sensor that sensed if the water drain tube was plugged and shut down the burner if the water got high enough to complete the circuit of the sensor (mounted in plastic to insulate). If the snesor touched water and conducted juice through the water into the grounded frame the water would gather in it would shut it down. I'm sorry this is being such a bugger. Troubleshooting without being there in person is a pitb.
  15. lol whats so hard about a little throttle blip? UP shifting with no clutch is done fairly commonly, especially in motorcycle racing. Down shiftng not so much, it tends to be pretty hard on gears. The real question is if you can heel/toe shift?
  16. I live in Wisconsin and jump through the winter when we can get enough people for loads and a pilot. If you think about it you really aren't in the element for long so it isn't like you have to bundle up like you would if you were gonna go sit out in it for hours. I typically have long underwear and a light mid layer under my jumpsuit. I wear a neck gaitor and some mid weight winter gloves or neoprene gloves. The main thing you are trying to do is make sure you don't have any skin exposed to the air, as wind chill at those temps can freeze tissue slightly. I'm usually having a little pain in my fingers or my neck by the time I get back inside but nothing terrible. I ski, hunt, skate, and sometimes work outside all winter so I don't know how being in the cold for five minutes on a skydive is gonna be any worse?
  17. I don't like opening high. I usually wait til the beer light comes on to get high. I mean if you open high you might get the munchies before you can get down and that'd be a sunofabitch. Plus having cotton mouth is hell. Where are you gonna store something to drink under canopy? can't believe I was the first to "misinterpret" the title. lol
  18. Did you reset the limit switch by hand? I see that the limit switch is a manual reset switch, once the switch has been "sprung" you have to manually put it back to it's normal position. Simply resetting the power only clears the fault but does not reset the switch. The switch should have 24v dc running through it (intrinsically safe, you can touch it without getting shocked, but may get a burn if the pos and neg wires touched your finger at once or touched close to your fingers). My guess would be that it looks for the switch to be passing power when it's ok. If tripped than it goes open and quits passing power, they do this so if the sensor is unplugged or wires are broken it will not run. So going with this you should be able to jumper wire around the switch and make it run, either at the switch or at the plug where it plugs into the board. You can do this with a piece of wire, even a paper clip unbent and pushed down into the plug (WITHOUT DAMAGING IT by forcing things too hard!!) This is assuming you have the 58mvp, it's item 20 on the diagram. (looks like right on the fan housing)
  19. My off the cuff guess would be that you have some type of Differential pressure sensor. Basically a diaphram sensor that is "comparing" air pressres from two spots. (inside and outside the air intake) to see if the filter is plugged. If the delta p becomes too large than the sensor indicates a plugged filter. Could be a bad sensor, bad board, or just something stupid like one of the sensor tubes plugged. This is all without knowing much about your model and not paging through the manual. Plus i'm not a HVAC tech per-se, but I am an industrial automation and controls guy that has worked on large burner control systems and wrenched on a fair share of things and pretty much always fix everything I own myself. Did you run it without a filter element in to see if it runs?
  20. I assume you mean for hunting deer? Shotguns are much safer. Regular slugs are in the dirt @
  21. Why is it that poeple are too lazy to get off their ass and walk in and deal with people face to face? I've always found it a bit rediculous that drive through lanes are packed and there's not a soul in line at the counter inside and you could have been in and out much faster than sitting in line wasting your gas. Along with that I've never understood why you would want to pig up your vehicle eating in it? I guess if you are picking something up to take home to the fam or something it's fine, but to me eating a meal in your vehicle sounds a bit disgusting. I was interested the other day to see on TV that large fast food companies are starting to route their drive through interactions through call centers now. When you are talking over the speaker you are actualy talking over a VIP line to some guy in another state in front of a computer, sometimes with a video feed.
  22. Resurection of old thread...lol. So what are people paying now for balloon jumps? I contacted a local guy that does balloon rides and he came back with $800 a flight in a balloon that holds four. This sounds waaaay to steep in price to me.
  23. Love my moto droid 2. I want an X but prefer a physical keyboard so I'm sticking with what i got for now.
  24. Oh man according to the show you just gave up "classified" info on the identity of the jumper. lol. Have fun in your cell with Julian Assange and Daniel Ellsberg. Overall a good bit. Was all the freefall footage from just one jump or compiled from multiple? By the looks of the multiple skid marks as the truck went around the corner and onto asphault, they had mutiple shoots of the driving portion.
  25. well, you DONT buy a jumpsuit off the shelf to begin with.. Yea lesson learned, the hard way. It was my first jump suit. I sent in my measurements stating I would like something quick and they sent back a response saying that they had something sitting in stock that would fit me. It fits, just a little snug for my taste and the legs are too short. It wasn't too bad mid-summer when i wear just boxers and a t-shirt, but when fall came and I thought I would wear long underwear under it....forget about it.
