  1. It's propaganda driven bullshit. The mexican government would love nothing more than to oppress the US people by convincing our own government to take away our rights. There has been just as much reporting showing that Mexico's claims are false. The weapons that did originate from the US (only 17% accroding to one source) were: #1 STOLEN from a US citizen in a burglary or other property crime. #2 were mil spec weapons that the US gave or sold to Mexico for the "war on drugs". Mil spec weapons that the average US citizen could not get their hands on, and those that can would NEVER just sell them off to some punk from south of the boarder. more likely they came from a corrupt source in Mexico after they got their through war on drugs appropriations. http://www.foxnews.com/politics/2009/04/02/myth-percent-small-fraction-guns-mexico-come/ http://latimesblogs.latimes.com/washington/2009/04/barack-obama-gun.html?utm_source=feedburner&utm_medium=feed&utm_campaign=Feed%3A+topoftheticket+(Top+of+the+Ticket) http://www.nraila.org/Legislation/Federal/Read.aspx?id=5680 http://www.elpasotimes.com/news/ci_12366467?source=pkg
  2. I know some that have came here legally and a mojority of them cannot STAND illegals. They are very angry that they get a bad name and get lumped in with people that have no respect for our laws. I can understand their frustration. They spent years going through the process and waited patiently in their country. One family was actually split for awhile as each person made their way through the paper trail. For some reason the media is slanted towards the "poor innocent hard working" illegals. I don't see a gray area. They are here illegally. period. What part of against the law do people now understad. It's a slippery slope when you start randomly deciding to enforce one law and blatently not enforce another.
  3. Oh my bad man. Sorry to go off on tangent. It's just natural after years of being a maintenance guy and hearing people bitch about mechanical things. lol. Yea that sounds like a dumb ass design if they didn;t make it readily replaceable.
  4. I was gonna get the insanity, but after talking to a few people decided to start with P90x and move on to insanity after. Lot's o'pain so far. lol
  5. seriously? you are bitching about a shear pin/key doing it's job? The shear pin is there for a reason, it stops you motor from getting damaged when you hit something or cause sudden shock to the drive line. Pretty much every piece of equipment has them. This is not an uncommon breakage. Take a snow blower into a mound of frozen crap and you'll shear the pin. Hit a hidden stump with your mower blade and you'll shear the pin. It's a consumable device that worked as designed. In no way does this make the piece of equipment a pos. You have no idea the amount of perfectly good mowers and crap that are thrown away that need nothing more than that little $.50 piece of aluminum replaced.
  6. Watching that video I see one issue. I was taught never ever to pull the tail around that much and that far out. When you do you start to pull lines around to the front and are inviting a line over. It makes sense, just to see one day after I brought the tail up and started rolling I carried the roll all the way down and continued to pull it out. When I unwrapped it my steering lines were all pulled around the canopy towards the front.
  7. I got 3.6 last year so I really wasn't expecting much this year. I ended up with exactly 2 percent as well. Still that equates to 55 cents/hour or so. Really more than I was expecting considering the economy and the amount of people in the same field that lost their jobs to plant closures and such. Our wage authority is based on wage survey of the area, so when a couple very large manufacturers closed doors last year I thought we would really get screwed this year. Remember, some years it really works out in YOUR favor and some years it works in theirs. I guess after observing the economy and personally knowing ALOT of people that lost their jobs and are out of or are very close to the end of their unemplyment benefits, I am very happy to still be working and having more overtime that I want. I've been in the unemployment line and I'd rather not go back...ever.
  8. I bought a d90 a few months ago and have been slowly learning how to use it well. I was thinking about getting a helmet and switch for it to use for skydiving sometime down the road when I get higher jump numbers. I've heard some comments from other guys about the d90 being too big. Does anyone use one and do they feel this is too big of a cam for jumping with? Also I am curious about how much goes into getting a cam set up for jumping. Is it easy to demount and use as a normal cam or is there too much stuff to set up to be taking it on and off to use for other photog? Thanks!
  9. I don't know how much I would concentrate on the steering lock. I know Chevy dropped steering wheel locks a few years ago. I was very surprised when I bought my new truck and the steering wheel didn't lock when I parked it so I took it back and they told me they had stopped using locks, thinking they were full of shit I asked other guys with new trucks ansd they said theirs didn't have them. Alot of vehicles have roll over sensors that will shut the vehicle down in the case that is is rolled over. Typically these used to just shut down the fuel pump, but they mave have made them more widespread in what they shut down. You also may have a fusable link to your starter gone. I'm not sure if newer chryslers still employ fusable links or not. You really need to get your hands on a wiring schematic and meter and go to town if you know how to use both effectively. If not I'd leave it to the pros. I'm an industrial electrician that spends most days with my head in automation and robotics panels. I can tell you I have seen inexperianced people spend hours and even days on electrical problems I found in about 10 miniutes through methodically following a schematic with my meter. Good luck!
  10. look around for a scratch and dent clearinghouse close by. We have one the next town over and it rocks. Stuff is really cheap and most has a scratch or dent on the side. Whoopty doo, most of the scratches and dents will never be seen due to them being on the side facing the wall or the other machine. I've seen stuff as cheap as just over half off list price.
  11. I've played drums since I was five. Took every band class possible in school, traveled with a marching band for a couple years in high school. Then played in a band with some buddies for awhile. I really wish I had the time to still be playing with a band but just don't anymore, I work second shift. Once in awhile I drop in and play with a local blues/rock band on open mic nights.
  12. Many of the people here responding act as if countries such as Iraq are as civilized as the US, and that they are playing fair. Just because we would never consider putting children into war and using them as combatants, doesn't mean other countries place the same value on a childrens lives or feel it's morally wrong to include children in war. In many countries it's common to try to use children as combatants. They do this for a reason and you all are exhibiting it. The first reason is that they know that a soldier from a country like the US will hesitate when faced with a child combatant....usually a hesitation long enough to get himself and his comrades killed. Secondly they know that we are a more cicilized (weak in their eyes?) society that will respond with outcry if it is revealed that our military killed children. Thus they are successful in demoralizing the enemy and eroding support in the homeland for military action. I'll guarantee you when an american child is killed in a terrorist act there is no controversey or tears shed in the middle east, there's typically quite the opposite. I guess you all forgot the post 9/11 vids of all the poeple in other countries partying and dancing around in celebration. I have friends returning from Iraq telling stories of children walking around with AK-47's and RPG's over their shoulder. One told a story of a child walking up to a check point and stabbing a guard in the groin, cutting his femoral artery and very nearly killing him. Maybe read up a little on the subject before having a kneejerk reaction? [url]http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Military_use_of_children[url]
  13. The USA isn't a democracy, it's a republic......The framers of the country were not seeking a democracy. In a democracy the majority rule, leaving some individuals with no choice, and possibly no rights. Hence the constitution giving individual rights no matter what their societal, economic or any other distinguishing circumstance. Hopefully, if done right, it gives all an equal voice. Suffice to say I think the US has gone quite astray from either a republic OR democracy. No matter how the events play out it is rahter unfotrunate. The government we see today would be unrecognizable to the framers of our constitution. I find it interesting how at the time the founders were considered treasonists to Britain and were seen as "domestic terrorists", and now, here we are in modern days labeling people that don't agree with the government taking away thier rights as "domestic terrorists". Expect to continue to lose personal rights and liberties. Eventually the people will get fed up...the only problem is, will it then be too late?
  14. Those damn kids and their "crotch rockets". That guy is waaaaay more dangerous than the crap talking typical harley rider that loves to go bar hopping on his bobber with no safety gear on, and loves to show his meager harleys power by doing the only lame thing it's capable of......a weak ass burn out at a alcohol fed party.
  15. Perhaps we should go to the methods of some arab countries. You touch someone elses shit you lose a finger or a hand. It's pretty cut and dry. My stuff is my stuff and your is yours. Don't touch my stuff. I work hard to earn my stuff and NOBODY has a right to touch it. I catch you touching my stuff and you are going to wish the cops caught you. I have absolutely no patience for lazy pukes that don't know the meaning of respecting other peoples things and earning things in life. The damn government gives enough shit away to the "poor and underprivelaged" funded by my tax dollars already.
  16. oh just get the RSV4 factory. lol. God I love that bike. I don't have an aprilia but do have a kawasaki zx-10r and a Harley night rod special. I've been eyeing the RSV4 and KTM RC8 lately. Now BMW goes and throws the s1000rr in the mix. Choices choices....
  17. Well what position will it be in? The second choice is designed to be arched over and hanging down from above. The first choice doesn't appear as though it is designed to be handled the same way. When I was a pimple faced teenage dishwasher the restaurant had the second choice. We just got a big parts washing tub in our shop that has choice number 2 as well.
  18. ruger mk gets my vote. I have one set up for range shooting and love it. If you get the 22/45 it is set up very similar to and has the same grip angles and such as the 1911. If I were you I'd read up on it if you were going to choose this gun because it has mutiple barrel options and you can really get the barrel that you feel suits how you are going to use the gun.
  19. have not jumped this year yet due to the temperatures being in the single digits and negatives...as soon as they get back to the 20-30+ range I will be taking my first jump of the year out of a 182.
  20. Is this VERY strict law enforced? Sounds kinda like the US no? We have plenty of gun law on the books (too many?) that would do the job IF ENFORCED. Look around at available info and you will find that the majority of gun crimes are committed with ILLEGAL guns. stolen guns, straw bought guns, etc. How 'bout we enforce the laws we have before trying to make any more.
  21. Considering the scenario when everyone is armed, a criminal doesn't have a choice anyway, so he might work it Brazilian way - shooting first, and then searching for money. A "gentler" way would be approaching victims in armed group. At least some countries full of guns (Brazil, Mexico, Somali) have a lot of violent crime, so arming most of the population or even everyone does not work as crime prevention solution. So didn't you, in essence, just invalidate your argument for stricter gun law? Mexico has VERY sctrict gun laws where nearly nobody besides military or police can own arms....yet their violant crime rate is significantly higher than that of the US.
  22. WHY I CARRY A GUN... My old grandpa said to me son, there comes a time in every mans life when he stops bustin knuckles and starts bustin caps and usually it's When he becomes too old to take an ass whoopin! I don't carry a gun to kill people, I carry a gun to keep from being killed. I don't carry a gun to scare people, I carry a gun because sometimes this world can be a scary place. I don't carry a gun because I'm paranoid, I carry a gun because there are real threats in the world. I don't carry a gun because I'm evil, I carry a gun because I have lived long enough to see the evil in the world. I don't carry a gun because I hate the government, I carry a gun because I understand the limitations of government. I don't carry a gun because I'm angry, I carry a gun so that I don't have to spend the rest of my life hating myself for failing to be prepared. I don't carry a gun because I want to shoot someone, I carry a gun because I want to die at a ripe old age in my bed and not on a sidewalk somewhere tomorrow afternoon. I don't carry a gun because I'm a cowboy, I carry a gun because, when I die and go to heaven, I want to be a cowboy. I don't carry a gun to make me feel like a man, I carry a gun because men know how to take care of themselves and the ones they love. I don't carry a gun because I feel inadequate, I carry a gun because unarmed and facing three armed thugs, I am inadequate. I don't carry a gun because I love it, I carry a gun because I love life and the people who make it meaningful to me. Police Protection is an oxymoron. Free citizens must protect themselves. Police do not protect you from crime, they usually just investigate the crime after it happens and then call someone in to clean up the mess. Personally, I carry a gun because I'm too young to die and too old to take an ass whoopin! ..author unknown (but obviously brilliant)
  23. maybe it't the painkillers. I was on some hard opiates after a really bad motorcycle accident and my memory from that whole three months is wrecked. lol
  24. Ouch man that is quite the load to get ripped off. Sorry to hear that. I wish I wasn't a such a newbie and had some stuff I could borrow/give ya to get you back on your "jumping feet". I'd search high and low for someplace that coulda caught this scum on video if I were you, and make sure that if this/these POS are people from our sport that they get outed for all to know. Personally I think that anyone getting caught stealing equipment from fellow jumpers should be stripped for life of licenses/memberships. Hopefully it wasn't someone in the sport that doesn't know what they hell to do with the stuff and it ends up coming back to you soon.
