  1. From the vids and stories I've heard is that the crossfit gyms push people too hard. Once they are obviously losing proper form they are pushed to keep going until failure. Sounds like a good way to get hurt, and stuff I've read is that crossfit gyms have a higher rate of injury. On the other hand I've talked to people who love it, but even they admitted that they were pushed to go to muscle failure. Most said they left the gym puking for awhile after they first started out, but they have had good strength gains.
  2. The problem is that this world has more and more shifted to state of apathy towards the emotions and feelings of others. To be cynical, bully others, and create outcasts is pop trend. People watch others be beat to a pulp or get run over by trains, all the while watching with glee through the view finder of their cell phone camera isntead of extending a hand to help, all just to be the first to post this wretched act up on youtube. These "shock jocks" apparently are too stupid to think through the consequences of their action had they been successful. People have no idea what else may be going on someone elses life. This girl may have had the week from hell, and these dicks making her the international butt of their joke was the straw that broke the camels back. By all accounts this lady was an excellent health care provider and a valued member of the hospital staff. Who knows how many lives this woman touched in her occupation and how many lives she changed. A mother of two and quite obviously a very educated young woman. I hope the two losers behind the mic are quite proud of themselves for contributing to ending it, all for a cynical joke.
  3. Yea and you know, times have changed. At one time a man needed an axe to live and to support his family. To keep them warm and be able to cook food. But now you know you can go and buy food already cooked, or cook with gas fuel. Axes have no pertinent use in today's society. I mean you could cut wood with chainsaws, or handsaws, and split it with other things. But we should specifically target axes, they are very dangerous.
  4. Got 3 zoo dives at a busy last day SDC......beautiful weather of nearly 70 degrees ......considering that we should have a whole lot of white stuff on the ground right now.
  5. Web site: http://www.barrett.net/ Oh look, they have a convenient "dealers" list to find their rifles for sale, they sell the ammo, they have training videos, and even in-person long-range training classes. $12k is nothing for a terrorist. Then all you need to do is go sit off the end of an airport runway somewhere and bag your game! Oh, I hope those noise-complaint nuts in Colorado aren't reading this... Yea 12k is "nothing" to a terrorist, hence why they resort to box cutters, retired russian/chinese surplus arms and IED's......
  6. People who kill with vehicles do so accidentally. People who kill with guns do so intentionally. So perhaps we should be a little more strict on the guns. Bullish. There is nearly no such thing as an accident, whether it comes to guns or cars. I refuse to ever accept the excuse of "accidental shooting" based upon the fundamental rules of possessing and handling firearms, and I feel the same about autos. There is always at minimum a case of negligence. An idiot talking on their phone doesn't "accidentally" sideswipe a motorcylist on the interstate while changing lanes. A drunk idiot driving with too many in him doesn't "accidentally" run a red light. A moron in a hurry to pass a truck on a two lane doesn't "accidentally" have a head on with a car coming the other direction. Call it "non-malacious" all you want, but that person put something stupid like their time before the lives of everyone around them when they committed their act of idiocy.
  7. Yea you're right, we should probably get rid of that whole thing requiring the police to present reasonable cause for warrants while we're at it, that's just a hinderance to the whole process. Shit they should not even need warrants, or hell even probable cause for that matter to come into your home or search your belongings. I think it'd be a lot better if they didn't even need reasonable articulable suspicion. You should have to wear a locator all the time that reports your location and activities to the govt. You don't need privacy, if you aren't doing nothing wrong you have no reason to worry right? Let's erect check points, and require those we deem "undesirables" to wear armbands that identify them to the rest of society. Those 4th and 5th amendments should just go into the garbage. They are such bullshit. The government knows whats best for you. Just go ahead and drink this here kool aid.
  8. to start we aren't a "true democracy" form of govt.....
  9. Where is that passage in the constitution that states one amendment is more important than the others again?
  10. He's a gym buff....anyone serious about working out knows it's all about constant hydration. lol
  11. I've always thought 'ol Teddy was the biggest bad ass of them all. He's a guy I admire. He didn't bullshit or pussyfoot. Imagine the response he'd have for extremist muslims whining about a little video?
  12. I'd say the movie maker got exactly what he wanted. His goal was to shed muslims in a bad light. And as he likely predicted he could use something very stupid and chintzy to work them into a frenzy and thereby make bigger fools of themselves. He got exactly the response he was looking for. And they are stupid enough to play right along with his little game like little pawns. The most disappointing part is that certain members of the US government would do as the muslims would like, and impede on our right to free speech and expression. This was a point where our leaders could have said that they support the mans right to free speech and expression, as that is one of the prevailing themes of our freedom, but that this mans message certainly does not speak for, nor represent, the United states views nor that of it's government. How ironic is it that some of the most "ruled" people in the world are angry over something someone did in this country under the protection of freedom. As more details come out, I am less and less convinced this series of attacks had anything to do with some stupid video. I think the attacks were planned, and the video was just pawned off as a reason.
  13. I think the one I find most offensive, and one I see repeatedly is the way that the media and society portrays fathers. I continually see shows and movies portray men as bumbling idiots who are poor parents, incapable of properly caring for children without messing up. The idea of a man being able to care for children successfully apparently needs to be made a comedy. If you pay attention to it you will notice it more and more. I find it rather disappointing. I know a number of guys, some who are SINGLE FATHERS, and others who are just the primary care givers to the family, who are wonderful well adjusted parents. It seems like it's ok for Hollywood to portray fathers in a poor light, yet in reality I see a whole lot of worthless women who are far from being good parents. Often when children are killed or abused it is done by a mother. I can personally name off four or five guys I know well who have full custody of children due to the mother running off and literally abandoning the children. So much for "motherly instincts" huh? If women were continually portrayed in this way there would be picket lines.
  14. You think that it would be best for everyone if everyone stopped thinking they knew what was best for everyone? what category does that thought fall into? I believe that would be the party I mainly identify with.....Libertarian.
  15. Personally I don't mind the looks of the thing. I have to say I'm very impressed when I see testaments from owners who claim to have driven thousands and thousands of miles without fueling up. I also love the fact that you are not tied to an electrical plug if you need to travel 1000 miles. That will be the largest hurdle for any alternative fuels vehicle. I am however not excited about the price. I am in the market for a car and would seriously consider the volt if not for the 40k+ price tag. I can buy a nicely loaded cadillac CTS for that. I think Chevy priced it high in order to try to twist the govt's arm into giving away huge tax funded incentives.
  16. She may be hypocritical, but she has a valid point. I have friends who throw snipe comments all the time about me being "rich" compared to them. Funny part is these are the guys that had everything handed to them while kids, and were the "mommies little angel" types who could do no wrong. They were good students, and in multiple sports in school. Meanwhile I was in a shitty home, with shitty parents. I started working when I was 12, saved every dime I ever made, and like a dumb ass dropped out and moved out when I was 16. My friends had everything handed to them and they still ended up being uneducated do nothings as adults. Meanwhile I got my HSED, went to college in my mid twenties and have invested what I can. All the times I've worked 12 hour days and been stuck working weekends to afford what I have and where i've gotten, I've seen my buddies wasting what little they have partying, drinking, and smoking. They will whine to me about being broke but their fridge is always full of beer, they always have that $7 pack of cigs they're puffing on, and will think nothing of going to the bar every weekend and blowing a couple hundred bucks.
  17. Traditionally I have voted for the "lesser of two evils". After spending the year following, supporting, going to see Ron Paul I cannot and WILL NOT vote for either of the front runners. After seeing the outright shameful things that the GOP did to Ron Paul and his supporters at the RNC I will do everything in my power to either reform the party or push a third party into power. I think it's time for people to vote third party or write in and send a message. If the two parties see how many votes they are losing to write ins and third party candidates maybe they will finally get a clue of how dis-enfranchised people are with them. Call it a wasted vote if you want, but damn it I am fed up.
  18. Yes because this is totally a partisan.....liberals have never disregarded personal freedom or liberty and tried to tell the populace what to do with their lives, mind, or body. Get real. Christ Liberals are trying to tell people how big of a soda they can drink and some don't consider that over the line.
  19. I had a similar thought a month or two ago when I was stuck on the Tarmac for an hour in Portland because I was unlucky enough to arrive around the same time air farce one was coming in. Then to observe the resources they also were flying in, then to see the roads shut down and the every place along the presidents route come to a screeching halt. I can only imagine what this costs. Then imagine my amazement to learn that this whole circus wasn't even for any real function beneficial to the tax payers....it was a $1000-$5000 per plate campaign dinner for Obama. That's it. Can you imagine the costs associated with this one little trip and the amount of inconvenience caused by it, all so Obama could go hang out with some rich folks for dinner.
  20. For a little up close background you can check out "www.gazettextra.com". This is our local Janesville newspaper and there is a huge amount of material on the subject on their site. Including recent quotes by people such as WI sen Tim Cullen (D) who testify to Ryan's behind the scenes work to try and keep the plant open. Mind you something he has never tried to take credit for or glamorize to curry promotion. http://gazettextra.com/news/2008/feb/14/standing-o-obama/
  21. No matter what the "timing" was the people that live here in Janesville have a bad taste in their mouth from Obama. This GM plant is a few miles down the road from my house. I worked for five years at a supplier for the plant, pretty much my entire family worked there in some capacity. Aunts and uncles working the assembly line and some taking union committee man posts and such, and my grandfather and father being journeyman skilled trades workers. It is the oldest GM plant in their fleet and goes back to the 1800's making tractors, and made large shells and stuff during WWII to support the war effort, a big legacy for a smaller town. For this city of 60,000 it was a big deal for the leading presidential candidate to come to the plant, tour it, and have it shut down for his rabble rousing speech about sweeping into the presidency and saving our economy. Point out the timeline finite details all you want, but the thousands of people who lost their jobs only remember Obama standing at the head of the assembly line promising that if they gave him their vote that the oldest plant in the nation would be open for another 100 years, not a mere few more months. I've heard no tales of Obama going out on a limb or even attempting to save this plant. I do know however that Ryan, along with a bi-partisan group of state politicians worked their ASS off trying to keep the doors open. When you mix in the fact that Obama's government motors buyout ended up with GM building a brand new plant in MEXICO, while this one sits idled, it only added to the insult.
  22. The link I posted goes to a site that at first glance appears to a legit IFLY web site. I would think a suburb location would be best, but would also be rather expensive when talking about real estate costs. North of Schaumburg or similar I would like the most, but I have heard Gurnee mentioned in the past. I live up in WI so anywhere within 2 hours or less would make me very very happy. Anything within a decent driving distance is better than having to fly to a tunnel. I cannot imagine that they would have a difficult time finding customers. When you consider the base of skydivers living in the area. Heck within two hours of my home I have multiple busy and successful turbine drop zones and another handful of cessna drop zones. You can't tell me the customer base isn't there to support a tunnel.
  23. So for poops and giggles I googled "chicago vertical wind tunnel" to see if I'd get maybe a business proposal or something interesting back. Well I got http://www.iflychicago.us/ Back. Looks like IFLY might be laying the groundwork for a tunnel in Chicago. FINALLY! Hopefully it comes to fruition. Anyone got an inside scoop?
  24. There's a big dif between "leaked" and the president coming out and saying "yup that was us and we're gonna do more" with a big smirk on his face. Myself and many others in the controls community pretty much figured it was the work of the US all along, but when I read the news of Obama pretty much bragging about it my jaw hit the floor.
  25. Remember it is also Obama who has dropped details of other operations. For example he recently admitted that the US is responsible for multiple cyber attacks on Iran and other countries, most specifically the stuxnet release to the enrichment facility. Now granted Kaspersky and company, working hand in hand with Russian intelligence had already internally traced it back to the US. But for Obama to smugly come right out and blurt it out all beaming with arrogant pride was a very very stupid mistake.
