  1. Dear Friend-of-busy-jumper, Buy your friend some microwavable salisbury steak dinners, a big bag of doritos, a gallon of ice cream and a nice TV. Sit him on the couch for 5 hours a night and watch him get fat. After he gets addicted to a good sit com and a prime time drama and after he adds a few inches to his waist line all of a sudden really living life will seem like a long forgotten dream. Love, Abby
  2. The pig will start roasting early on Saturday morning (June 10th) and will be done just in time for the post-jumping festivities. Red Bull distributors will be here for the weekend. Click here to see pictures from last year's pig roast! Click here to watch the video from last year's pig roast!
  3. A Blue Stearns XL windbreaker ended up in one of our stash bags. If this is yours, please PM me your address and I'll send it to you.
  4. Why no boots - Wearing sneakers on most of my jumps is a choice that I made, and I know it puts me in the minority. I feel like I'm better able to run out fast landings and I'm just generally more dexterous in sneakers. Ironic that I'm writing this after posting a picture of me slipping. Who knows though, it may have been worse in boots. I've also sunk it in hard in sneakers, landed on RR tracks, medium sized rocks, rough terrain, mud puddles, etc. So far my ankles are intact, however a friend of mine hasn't been as fortunate even though he has a pair of the popular boots. Go figure. Why knee pads - They've saved my knee before, probably will again.
  5. I learned to check your footing on every exit. I knew that already, but I think I'll be extra careful about it from now on. Here's what happens when you slip on a wet platform when attempting a roll over (see attached pic). I dub it the "slip over."

    Quote of the Week

People had been working for so many years to make the world a safe, organized place. Nobody realized how boring it would become. With the whole world property-lined and speed-limited and zoned and taxed and regulated, with everyone tested and registered and addressed and recorded. Nobody had left much room for adventure, except maybe the kind you could buy. On a roller coaster. At a movie. Still, it would always be that kind of faux excitement. You know the dinosaurs aren't going to eat the kids. The test audiences have outvoted any chance of even a major faux disaster. And because there's no possibility of real disaster, real risk, we're left with no chance for real salvation. Real elation. Real excitement. Joy. Discovery. Innovation. The laws that keep us safe, these same laws condemn us to boredom. Without access to true chaos, we'll never have true peace. Unless everything can get worse, it won't get any better. From Choke by Chuck Palahniuk
  7. Both her toggles blew on opening. She steered to the tall grass in front of the main landing area with risers and riser flared at about 10 feet. The canopy stalled almost immediately causing her to land hard on her butt. She stood up, but people on the ground (to their credit) told her to lie back down. We waited for EMT's to arrive by boat and they made the decision to airlift her because a bumpy boat ride could have done more damage. She walked out of the hospital on her own power a few hours later. She is home now. She has a fractured t-12 and is expected to be fully recovered in about 6 weeks.

I was hoping the bald guy from ER was going to get Jack Bauer'd. Oh well, you can't have everything. It should be good next season seeing how he escapes from China.
  9. Hey, sorry I missed you and sorry you didn't get to jump. We did get a few loads up on Saturday with a reaaallllly long wind hold between them. Hopefully I'll run into you the next time you're down there, and we'll get some better weather. We've got our annual pig roast coming up on June 10th which is always a fun weekend!

  11. Why were you watching Maggot take a dump??? Is it a rural Pennsylvanian thing?
  12. Cool! We'll celebrate by doing our second annual Star Crest weekend this June. The first one went really well with 11 new awards. Details here

  14. Yeah, I know what you mean. I got my BlackJack 280 in a Vector II v10.5. It was tight but it worked. The dacron lines, tailpocket, and vents all add to the pack volume.
  15. For what it's worth, one will fit snuggly in a vector III v354

Yeah, just like banging Magot's sister you have to be able to do it in the dark.

Here's a picture which may help. Note: route the brake lines outside of the rear slider grommets and the guide rings. Because of the way I have my toggles attached it may look like the brake lines are going through the guide rings but they are not. If you are unsure about it at all you should just jump without a slider until someone can show you in person.

  19. You are not a real base jumper unless you know how to turn your tshirt into a ninja mask.
  20. Let it be known that I am American and my pants are not cammo. Most Americans' pants wouldn't be cammo unless they were standing in front of a denim wall.
  21. Multiple loads I would use my vented for some jumps which I wouldn't use my unvented.
  22. 45 MB of bandwidth and 8 minutes of my life that I'll never get back for more John Agnos? I'll pass.

  24. Wardie was always very friendly to me and my wife. He had an incredible and infectious enthusiasm for a simple round skydive on the sunset load. Some of the stories I've heard of Wardie in the old days still make me smile and shake my head. I'm glad I got the chance to know him and jump with him a few times over the past couple of years.
  25. Unless there's another Gregor who went to Bridge Day last year, that'd be me. I've never been to Ohio though but I hear it's lovely this time of year What's up?
