  1. I use my reserve toggles to tie up the slider. I am going to finish my reserve swoop on rears any way. "The restraining order says you're only allowed to touch me in freefall" =P
  2. Very true, I did don some head gear for the Mr. Bill that we attempted on Sunday. Imagine the look of suprise on my face as I looked over sluggos shoulders as he towed his pilot chute for about 7 seconds after exit. So I have heard that in a lot of instances a hard hemlet with a poor liner can actually increase injury. Is there any truth to this? Maybe I will get a protec after all and fit up my own audible pocket. "The restraining order says you're only allowed to touch me in freefall" =P
  3. Maybe this should go in gear and rigging, but I thought that this was an appropriate post for this forum. Have there been any advances in skydiving helmets that actually offer some crash protection, aside from a protec? I have two helmets, a full face and a camera helmet, so 9 times out of ten I end up doing all my hop and pops with googles and nothing more. My landings and turns are getting much better and I am getting faster and faster landings. It probably isn't a bad idea to wrap my brain up in something. I need somthing to hold my optima, and something that I can still hear well enough to communicate during CRW. "The restraining order says you're only allowed to touch me in freefall" =P
  4. Shitty situation "The restraining order says you're only allowed to touch me in freefall" =P
  5. No kidding! If I won the powerball jackpot I would love a cool old bird like that at my dream dz's fleet, but I wonder how much fuel on of those burns in one load to 10k? I loved jumping Larry Hill's DC3, there is just something so cool about those planes. They give off a vibe, like they have their own soul.
  6. Look I will be nice guy and take it off your hands for you. Having jumped a hornet for 200 some jumps I am highly experinced with canopies that abuse you. Then you won't have to worry about harming the innocent. "The restraining order says you're only allowed to touch me in freefall" =P
  7. In most instances that I can think of I would rather hop and pop. But most of the time I get out at 4k, so I would have been out already. "The restraining order says you're only allowed to touch me in freefall" =P
  8. I don't worry about it, I will just sell more coke to all your strung out spoiled college kids. "The restraining order says you're only allowed to touch me in freefall" =P
  9. I bet one of those would be great for looking for cutaways. "The restraining order says you're only allowed to touch me in freefall" =P
  10. So is the X-games not interested in picking up an event on canopy piloting? "The restraining order says you're only allowed to touch me in freefall" =P
  11. I bet it was pokemon with that little electric rat. "The restraining order says you're only allowed to touch me in freefall" =P
  12. It would have been funnier if you sent him to the wrong place. "The restraining order says you're only allowed to touch me in freefall" =P
  13. "But I stand up all my landings, what do you know" "The restraining order says you're only allowed to touch me in freefall" =P
  14. Over heard in Eloy during the holiday boogie: "How the hell can you fly around with two big hot dogs on the top of your canopy. I can't do crew with that guy, I would have to eat his canopy!" "The restraining order says you're only allowed to touch me in freefall" =P
  15. We do the colorado wave here in CT, we just don't use as many fingers. "The restraining order says you're only allowed to touch me in freefall" =P
  16. Exercise? Physical therapy? That is a question better suited for your doctor/trainer. For flaring make sure you are pulling the toggles down, and not out to the side. If you pull them out to the side you get less tail deflection when you arms are maxed out, when compared to flaring with your arms at your side. 17. That one and the gangster of love chart cracked me up, thank you for the laugh on a late night of work! "The restraining order says you're only allowed to touch me in freefall" =P
  18. Being alone in the universe, totally peaceful, just you and the stars. It is very close to being out on the open ocean with no lights and no ships around you. I don't think there is anything in this whole world that I like better than doing a high pull on a night jump, hanging in deep deep brakes, and just taking it all in.
  19. I have cable so I am all set? "The restraining order says you're only allowed to touch me in freefall" =P
  20. I never jumped at the point but I will give Orange props for being a very cool club dropzone. When the UConn skydiving team was coming back from Collegiates in January 07 they opened the dropzone for us mid week. It was the coolest thing ever. They got an Otter pilot, some funjumpers came out to jump with us, and some of their members hosted a BBQ for us later on that evening. They also let my grandfather who came out to visit us sit right seat in the Otter on the last load of the day, he had great things to say about Orange. It is an AWESOME group of people! "The restraining order says you're only allowed to touch me in freefall" =P
  21. Tracking "fast" will not save your life, tracking far will. I love being able to look between my legs and see people 500 feet below me because they track like rocks. You track down there, I will track up here. "The restraining order says you're only allowed to touch me in freefall" =P
  22. Are you the Katana police now that you have one lead? The more shocking thing is that if he has only 375 jumps (which I doubt) then he has been flying them since he had 175. You have got to love gear stores.... gimmy gimmy. "The restraining order says you're only allowed to touch me in freefall" =P
  23. I have experince the joy of watching pilot chutes come out twice, it really gets your attention. Both have been newer jumpers who have gone low and didn't try to stay with the formation, I lost sight of them. Both were almost under me and I was in my flat track so I just tracked even harder and when I passed them they were well behind me. I can track well and I already had a full head of steam behind me. I don't know what I would do if I was just falling down the tube. I think I would track, back slide or side slide depending on where I judged the canopy to be in relation to myself, but I would prepare to eat canopy and the other jumper. 24. Gabor, I agree. The analogy the Greg Windmiller gave me was shifting through gears on a car, and I thought it was a great way of describing the different parts of the turn. Getting back to the discussion from this weekend the argument was that big turns end up with a fast rate of turn during the last 90 degrees, and since I was only working on 90's that was a key part of the turn. I think that view point is almost like saying I am doing a big turn with the first 180* missing so I should act like I am at the *end*. I have been getting much better results keeping it in a dive longer letting it gain more vertical speed. I can make a 90 last a pretty long time, long then the half assed 270's I was doing, with better results too. Thanks every one for the input, I appreciate it! 25. I am joining this evening, thanks for the information and the push in the right direction. "The restraining order says you're only allowed to touch me in freefall" =P
