    Rig Storage

Many dz's have lockers... look into that. Otherwise if there is a rigging loft onsite ask the rigger to keep it for you. You trust them with your life... you should be able to trust them to watch your rig. Do not do anything to the rig between jumps to make it unjumpable. People have done things like tie up reserve handles etc, and then forgoten about it! "The restraining order says you're only allowed to touch me in freefall" =P
  2. April fools? Just saw a comercial, not that I care, I hate that place! "The restraining order says you're only allowed to touch me in freefall" =P
  3. For what purpose? A good track flat does not start with a steep dive. Your wasting altitude and building unnecessary speed. Diving has nothing to do with it. "The restraining order says you're only allowed to touch me in freefall" =P
  4. Am I missing something here Spence? "The restraining order says you're only allowed to touch me in freefall" =P
  5. No. You and I are both inexperienced, and on crack. But it is fun crack. "The restraining order says you're only allowed to touch me in freefall" =P
  6. Not to be rude but it sounds like pilot error to me. I have about 30 jumps on that same demo mamba 124. It opened great, on heading 95% of the time. [edit: just broke out the log book, it was 37 jumps =P] You can't fault a high performance canopy for bad body position. It isn't a pilot 124, it opens in super deep brakes. If your not staying square it is going to make it very apparant. So will a Katana, or a Xfire2, or a Blade! If you can't manage your openings then maybe you should reconsider the higher performance canopies. I will have to try the XF2 again myself. I put a few jumps on one and I thought it had a much shorter recovery arc than the Katana or the Mamba. Every one seems to think otherwise so I definetly am going to have to give it another try. "The restraining order says you're only allowed to touch me in freefall" =P
  7. I think what you are referring to is experienced jumpers climbing out onto the camera step. I thought I would clarify for others who are reading the post, but I will hold off giving my own opinion on this until some more experienced jumpers chime in. "The restraining order says you're only allowed to touch me in freefall" =P
  8. Yes and yes. I log all my tandems that I have done to help people go through their training, or to help a friend get recurrent after the winter.
  9. Good for you to practice tracking. Tracking will save your life and your buddies life every jump.
  10. Les and Cookie on the demo team are great people! I jumped at their DZ before they joined up with Aerodyne. Karl and the rest of the office crew are great to deal with as well. I just recieved a demo student canopy for my DZ from them this past saturday morning... thanks!
  11. The grippers on my supplex tony suit are...... supplex. "The restraining order says you're only allowed to touch me in freefall" =P
  12. Why can't he pick up a used one stateside? "The restraining order says you're only allowed to touch me in freefall" =P
  13. Every time he looks at his altimeter he must go unstable. "The restraining order says you're only allowed to touch me in freefall" =P
  14. Going out to vegas sounds a lot better than having him come here! Thanks for the responses every one! I am going to see about getting all the materials for now, and having one of my friends who are riggers walk me through some pack jobs.
  15. Have a rigger check out your closing loop too. "The restraining order says you're only allowed to touch me in freefall" =P
  16. A 42 year old in your example would have 26 years of driving experince, or at least 26 more years of maturity. Since you have low jump numbers, and maturity doesn't apply to a knee jerk reaction in turbulence, or when some on cuts you off on final, I will have to say that your anology doesn't mean much. Not that I care, fly what ever you want. I make plenty of stupid decisions, but I am not going to ask about them on the internet. "The restraining order says you're only allowed to touch me in freefall" =P
  17. Thanks for all of the responses. I think I will go with no booties.... and most likely a two piece suit incase I want to become hot shit later on. "The restraining order says you're only allowed to touch me in freefall" =P
  18. Looks like tripples to me. "The restraining order says you're only allowed to touch me in freefall" =P
  19. How tall are you and how much do you weigh if you don't mind anwsering. Do you use weight with the suit? "The restraining order says you're only allowed to touch me in freefall" =P
  20. Were you flying much with booties before that? I spend most of my freefall time in booties. Except for when I pretend I can freefly. A two piece suit sounds like a good idea though, I can buy a freefly pant set later on if I decide I need them.
  21. I have been pretty interested in getting my riggers rating. I know that Dave De Wolf's (sp?) course is usually once a year in January. Are there any examiners who offer courses other times during the year? PA would be a good location for me, and I have heard really good things about the course from my friend who went there, but it would also be nice start now!
  22. I did a far amount of searching, but I want to do some final homework before I buy my new camera suit! I need a camera suit for this season, I will be using it for filming formation skydiving and tandems once I finish reaching the manf. recommended mins and get some good training. I won't be freeflying with the tandems, all on my belly except for a move here or there after deployment to catch their opening. I was looking at Tony Suits but I wasn't sure which wing selection would be best. They had a C wing that attached to the leg straps, and it mentioned that you could flat fly or sit fly with the wing. The D wing looked the largest of the wings, with a Velcro sandwich to secure the wing at the bottom. My concept of a good suit for me would be one that was slick and fast so I could haul ass with some extra weight, with large wings to offer good range. Maybe that only sounds good in concept? What about booties? Personally I like the extra drive I get with booties. I do most of my flying with my booties on my other suits. If you are on your belly for most of the time while filming are booties an advantage? Thanks for the help! I can't wait to start doing some real camera work and really learn some things, instead of just hitting record and capturing the monkey business. "The restraining order says you're only allowed to touch me in freefall" =P
  23. Cosmetics don't allways go hand in hand with saftey. I bring my rigs to people that I trust to give me a safe pack job. I think sometimes one guy gives me a packjob that looks nicer and feels better on my back, but I trust all of them or I wouldn't use them in the first place. And no I wouldn't want my rigger folding my reserve over and over and over so he could practice the cosmetics. That is wear and tear, I don't even want to get it folded up three times a year but I don't have a choice. "The restraining order says you're only allowed to touch me in freefall" =P
  24. I had the same thought, but aren't the dash M was a different beast from the original micro ravens? "The restraining order says you're only allowed to touch me in freefall" =P
  25. Thats is pretty cool! "The restraining order says you're only allowed to touch me in freefall" =P
