  1. Dont get me wrong, the Old Testament and the old way was very brutal, but after Christ a new way of the spirit was revealed. Jesus did not come to destroy life, but to give life. He showed that the old way required a new way to be truly fulfilled. Grace and Truth. That is the sword that is spoken of in reference to almost every New Testament passage except this one. And even in this one, you can begin to see a metaphor manifesting if read in context of the spirit. Im not going to take you out of your heart... what God put there is his and im not saying that our Christian soldiers are not Christians... Im just saying that war is not the way of the spirit... but it is the way of the world, and there is a difference between them. I believe in destiny so I cant stop what is invevitable anymore than you can... im just surprised sometimes that these secrets are all in the Gospel but they continue to get overlooked generation after generation. There are many references to the sword of the spirit.. the word... grace and truth but for anyone reading this I should at least leave one. Ephesians 6:17 "Take the helmet of salvation and the sword of the spirit, which is the word of God"... but moreso I want to make sure everyone knows that I love America... our country is the greatest blessing despite its problems and I fully acknowledge the sacrafice that many have made to protect our freedoms, I just dont think that America is the greatest representation of Jesus yet. Im not talking about extreme pacifism.. im talking about grace and truth and learning how to understand and accept, and live with inner peace and joy... that kind of energy will.. can transcend, but, hasnt for almost as long as humans have been on earth. There is a war in heaven but its not fought with our weapons. "We didn't start the fire"
  2. Yup, I dont like it either. The last thing Jesus would say is take up your rifle and follow me. Although, sometimes we do the wrong things for the right reasons, but it still doesnt make it right. Besides, trying to get rid of a spirit is like shooting bullets into the air. 3. Sweet info guys, thanks! Thats just what I needed. "We didn't start the fire"
  4. I will be in the Netherlands in mid Februrary. I understand weather may not cooperate, but this is the only time I can go, so, I will just hope I can jump there and do what I can in the meantime to enusre I am legally ready. There are some questions I have though and I am having difficulty getting in touch with any of the DZ's from where I am. I dont have my logbook or any gear and I dont want to mail my book through the Kuwaiti postal service. I have around 300 jumps and a USPA 'A' license and I know some DZO's who could vouch for me, but am I just screwed here without having the physical logbook? Can someone fax the pages, or send a copy of loads I was manifested on throughout various seasons instead? Thanks in advance for any info. "We didn't start the fire"
  5. Thats ridiculous... and it goes against the teachings of the Gospel. "We didn't start the fire"
  6. The reporters are one of the main reasons aid is coming in at all, right? They also investigate the corrupt uses of it as well. I have no doubt that the Hatian government wouldnt mind pocketing billions of dollars at the expense of thousands of their own people dying. Money is VERY powerful. I dont think anyone thinks you hate us. We dont want to see people dying on TV either. Surely your seeing you may have jumped the gun on this one... which is something we all do at times. "We didn't start the fire"
  7. I dont think he hates the US, I think he blames us for alot of the suffering in the world, like so many who are on the outside looking in. "We didn't start the fire"
  8. The holy spirit is an asshole, he didn't guide me through shit in high school(presbetarian), i was open to suggestion back then. I have since become agnostic. How exactly did the holy spirit guide you? enlighten us. The Holy Spirit is truth. You are a sinner, I am a sinner, and love is greater than sin. All a man can do is follow his heart. 9. Hey I used to work for KBR! "We didn't start the fire"
  10. The interpretations without the actions of goodness are worthless. If you only understood what grace actually is, then you would understand everything, but sadly, even people who do read the bible, go to church, and claim the name of Christ still dont know. The word of God is the spirit behind the words. You can tell someone you love them 1000 different ways, but if they dont believe it, then no matter how many letters you use, they wont get the spirit behind them. Translation has been used since the beginning of time in many different ways, not just words and letters. I would'nt use that as a sole discount for the revelation of God in a mans heart. 11. Its a fairly significant difference. Im sure someone will chime in, but I believe your 150 packs something like a 135 would. See, your in the same boat Im in, and since im always at work lately, I have nothing at all better to do with my time besides this website, so ive read alot of reviews on all the canopys I am looking at. Of course you will find that demoing canopies is the way to go and the industry has made it fairly easy to do so believe it or not! But seriously, if you havent flown the safire2, definitely demo one before you make up your mind. For my taste, it was much more fun to fly. Sorry pilot lovers. The pilot is still a great canopy for our jump numbers though. "We didn't start the fire"
  12. around 200 on a pilot 1:1- and about 15 on a safire2 1:1. around 40 saber2 same WL. flew enough 7cells to know I definitely dont want one. I really liked the safire better than my pilot. I saw a significant difference in the "zippiness" in relation to us beginners and how we approach canopy flight. Both the pilot and safire have great openings, but do snivel at times 800-1000ft (may wanna keep that RSL connected!), depending on your packjob. All this is very redundant, and this is only my very uneducated .02, but, another thing to keep in mind is that the pilot can be ordered with ZPX fabric, giving you much smaller pack volume with the same size canopy. edit to add: also the pulse has a thinner type fabric option, but I have not flown that canopy yet "We didn't start the fire"
  13. Yeah, heaven forbid something comes off sounding "preachy". Dude, black snake moan is a good movie... unless your easily offended. Calling a movie like BSM a preachy movie is just ridiculous. Plus, the music in it is raw soul and sounds great. "We didn't start the fire"
  14. Like I said earlier, I like provoked thought. You read the stuff I write, (I wish I could say it quicker) so imagine the stuff I think. I dont push provoked thought away, like many may assume, I think as deeply and as accurately as I can. What I have found is Jesus is the truth, so I dont expect everyone to understand, or even appreciate me as a thinker... but I do understand many of the analogys and explanations used by others who do not believe the same things. Your analogy makes perfect sense to me, I just dont see life as a the superbowl... more like the game itself. Its sort of like skydiving. All of us know that we have to stop at some point, and when that point comes, either we will feel satisfied or left wanting. The search is not for victory or defeat, but for content in either circumstance. I believe that satisfaction can better be filled in the hunger itself rather than in actual fulfillment. The whole "its better to have loved and lost, than to never have loved at all" thing. Plus, I actually enjoy the deeper conversations more than I do casual small talk. Ever notice how much more enjoyable it is to talk about skydiving to people who "understand and appreciate" it rather than to those who just want you to shut up? "We didn't start the fire"
  15. I wouldnt worry all that much about leaving/ammending your current lifestyle for someone your willing to take a chance on... Havent you seen Good Will Hunting?. Its not a bad thing to at least try to explore the outer parameters of your own comfort zones. A big jet-setting lifestyle (minus the cash expenses) could be very exciting. Coincidentally, what does he do for work and what country is he moving to? "We didn't start the fire"
  16. If your gonna go for objective accuracy, you should at least say "It is probably more accurate to say we will survive, or not- with or without it meaning anything." Your giving more testimony showing that people who dont believe in God also do not believe there is meaning to life. A conversation that we have been having quite a bit of on these forums. Now, billvon will come on here and say that is not true... that there are Atheistic minds who do believe there is a meaning to/for life, but that is hardly ever the case when I speak with an actual atheist. "We didn't start the fire"
  17. I gather that your basically saying the "inevitable change" may come through a revolutionary transformation of human thought and perception, as we relate to one another. I could be wrong, but I agree either way. As you know, Jesus does this for many, and you are right, there are diseased interpretations of any religion or philosophy... but that doesnt mean there isnt a "cure" already revealed on this earth. To me, the real question is not about humans, but about life in general. Will life survive in the universe? One thing we know about life, through our very limited human perception, is that life itself is much more fragile than our will to live. So, is it life, or the will in life that carries the strength to not only survive, but to flourish? Im at work. somewhat bored. and am strangely attracted to this website more than I foresaw when I joined it. I like the provoked thought, and there is plenty of that in SC. "We didn't start the fire"
  18. did you tell him? "We didn't start the fire"
  19. yup. Thats what I see alot of as well. That, and alot of reading through shit just to get the substance. Its one of the bummers about Dz.com, but you know you love it. "We didn't start the fire"
  20. damn, 3 cutaways in 650 jumps? Whats your secret? "We didn't start the fire"
  21. See, this is something really cool. At what point does a human or a dog find such a strong connection for the other? There have been instances in life where a human has given his life for his dog, and a dog has given his life for a human. That is a very deep connection for two different species (apart from the mammal argument) to share. It just shows me more and more that everything with life is connected, not only through death, but also through life. "We didn't start the fire"
  22. Wow. I did not know that. That sounds like certain people in politics looking for votes, or just plain crazy to me. Im not sure, but I would think that extreme enviornmentalists like this have no problem voting for like-minded (seemingly) politicians.. This is definitely going overboard. "We didn't start the fire"
  23. You want to be careful not to become them. Revenge is not the same as Justice... but it sometimes acts, sounds, and feels the same. "We didn't start the fire"
