I have been jumping FX 79 and 70 (wl 2 to 2,6) for swoop/wingsuit /video (and both) for about 700 jumps now and am very happy with the openings. Maybe a bit firmer openings than you'd get with Xaos 21, but especially with wingsuit I do not like too slow openings. Try, and just be sure you got the "bigger" slider with the FX, as some older have small sliders and openings are not so soft... Yes, it's a tough job indeed and surely they need the right wind conditions for the flight to push them over the water. Concidering they need to wear extremely warm clothing, oxygen systems, tracking and flotation devices etc. for this kind of flight. "Fear is the path to the Dark side" (Master Yoda)

The guys are Skydive Empuriabrava staff and very experienced skydivers. At least two months ago they were testing for the flight using BM S3 suits. I do not know if they are getting S3S or S5 for the attempt. "Fear is the path to the Dark side" (Master Yoda)

Im not disagreeing what Robi and others say about the legpouch, but have made the different choise. I use the BOC on WS skydives and base for the sake of simplicity and one PC position. I have never had difficulties locating the handle on with my rig/suit setups so I refuse to make changes to my pulling sequence. I jumped the legpouch for a while but the pulling position and added complicity of the system just didn't feel right. But maybe I'm just oddly built... just like Yuri. One more happened just two weeks ago in Switzerland. The jumper luckily survived with quite minor injuries compared to what happened (healing well and walking). The 3-ring loop failed in a hard opening, maybe also combined with other circumstances. So it makes five... I wonder why the loop is not made from more durable material than the normal loop line. As in base, the main goal is not to detach the canopy in air during a malfunction, but allow release in water or treelanding. I would suggest: do a nice stable exit, fly untill you are sure you are far enough from the wall in a case of offheading/linetwist with wings (should not take more than 7-8secs. of good flying). Then pull, even it feels high. I think that the overall time of the first wingsuit jump would be quite the same as you have jumping the place without wings and burning it low. I always use a full face helmet and kneepads. And also I'm thinking of buying some more protection. Just wanted to point out possible negative aspects that may rise when using extensive protective gear and trusting it too much when really should say no for the jump... Protection sure is good thing to have. As long as you don't start jumping in less than good conditions, or places you wouldn't jump without massive armour to make you feel like bulletproof. If the amount of protection gear around makes one decide to jump rather than climb down, the protection has become dangerous. This is just my personal opinion, disagreeing is sometimes wise.
