Hey buba, I hear ya. Although during the first couple of years of jumping I showed no fear and was always rarin' to go, I find myself a little nervous. I'm coming back in after a 5+ year hiatus, with a newly healed shoulder, and although I know it's like riding a bike, the feeling of reliving the excitement - that addiction to skydiving, and testing my skills again, makes me a little nervous. After my first cutaway I had people ask me when I was getting back up. They thought I would be hesitant...I just figured what the cost of that day ended up being (financially) and decided I'd be back the following week...not because I was scared. Best thing I've found for other times I've been nervous about stuff...breath. Just take some deep breaths. Be strong, be safe, buba. SA

Sweet battle gear! I think I'll stick with my Sketchers, though. Kind of a "off road running shoe"...for those rougher terrain landings...more grip. SA

Saved the armpit...once. Notice I said "armPIT"? Shoulder surgery...it was a must. Although the smoothness was intriguing, the itch factor when the hair grew back sucked. Just keep it under control. SA

Hey psipike02, Good for you for knowing when it's time to ground yourself. It sucks, it really does. In fact, five years ago when I had to ground myself it hurt. It was like taking a piece of my heart out. Last year when I attempted the wind tunnel to see if my shoulder was better, I sadly realized that I was going to need surgery because the manager of the tunnel told me I would never fly again...without pins. I was devistated. This past April has been five years since I've been up. Since then I have had surgery, been cleared to jump, hit the tunnel and had ZERO issues! A couple more tunnel visits a repack scheduling, and I'm ready to go for this summer. Sometimes we need to do things we don't like, to get where we want to be. You're still a part of the family; we'll all be here when you come back. SA

I also have been out for a few years, 5 in April, because of an injury that I only recently had fixed. My timeline to be jumping again is late May/early June '08. The thing I'm looking to do, besides physical therapy, is go to Safety Day to refresh my safety knowledge, hit the windtunnel to test my body strength and positioning, practice my packing, do my recurrency jump.
