  1. Sounds like you are "really" busy at work.
  2. Funny that you mentioned that.... Did you see the itinerary?
  3. Yup, our very own Lara (along with the girls at 'Snore) makes the homepage of dropzone.com!!!
  4. So, when ya gonna come over the hill and have your first jump at 'Snore??? I'm buying for the Double Eagle (or whatever you call it) for the 6 point, 8 way last Saturday at sunset. Which, incidentlally was the same day I bought beer for my new rating. Then there's still the one for the D license......
  5. Dude, you gotta get out more. Or at least go to a bigger dz and refrain from the "orientation" comments. It may save your life. Don't limit yourself... RW and CRW are great as well. Read the post by SkyMonkeyOne. He put it in perspective.
  6. Oh shit! I think I got FOD'd!
  7. Oh, no. We're gonna try that again. I already have one of which the printing is pretty shitty quality. I'm still looking for the refund on the original. I'm sure there are a lot of the old ones laying around on some shelf.
  8. Wingnut, Nice pics! Now Check Six! Shark
  9. Hmmm... See a lot of jumpers from SkyDance. I was skyborn at SkyDance, but now am back home in SoCal and jumping at Elsinore where they tolerate me. I'm also at Perris occasionally. Someday I'll make the swim back up to Davis. Actually, next year for the HALOs in June, fer shure.
  10. Hey Bone, Ya missed you guys at 'Snore. Hope you get to do that dropzone tour much like the dudes in "Endless Summer" hit up the hot surf spots.
  11. I'm not sure if it has already been posted, but here's a link to the latest ops pertaining to GA flights, etc. The FSS gave it to me. http://www.nbaa.org/

    life

Marissa, I think I got your point(s). When I went to Seattle last month I brought the Frankenrig with me on the plane. When I went through security I figured I'd have to remove it from the bag or even upack it. I even got my Cypres Card ready to show them. As I placed the bag into the x-ray, I remembered I had the hook knife still attached to the harness. It passed without hassle and I continued to the boarding gate. Same situation on my return flight and I did not remove the knife then either. I pondered how relaxed the guards were in there inspection of baggage, etc. Even though I was relieved that I passed through, I was amazed that I was not even questioned. This did concern me. Complacency kills. I probably won't be travelling with my rig in the future either. Just some observations. See ya Saturday, ///Mark
  13. FFPM, I think it's about time to do some RW with the Shark....
  14. Congratulations! Did you learn at SkyDance in Davis? I did my AFF and first 14 jumps there before moving back home to SoCal.
  15. Bill, Glad to hear you made it back safely, albeit late. Being a broker I have ties to NY. In fact, my boss is in Boston and was planning to go to NY today. We spoke shortly after the two towers were hit. With his plans rearranged he will be flying back home to San Diego asap. Mark
  16. Marc, We're with you in spirit. Good luck. I have a lot of friends in Manhattan through work. Some at the WTC. Take care. Mark

Can I have some copies, too?

    New here

Hey Tom, Welcome to the ZONE. You'd be surprised who's online here. Anyway, don't let that SSL tape get out, unless of course, you give me a copy of Team Slippery Box.
  19. Lara, When was the last time we jumped?
  20. Next time I'll be in Perris will be the 15th. (Like it matters to you guys.) Bummer. Feel left out. Doin' the FJC on Sat. Ground crew for a demo that evening and another FJC on Sunday. Why don't y'all make a mini-road-trip at lunch and go over the hill to Snore? Afterall, Lara made a jump over there Saturday 'bout midday, went back to elsinore and did 2 more jumps! But then again, she IS the Tomb Raider.

    CReW Skies

Last year I used a L193. This year I used my Spectre 190 (with microlines.) It was very floaty at 1:1. SQ1 has some 176s and 160s Lightnings to demo if we jump Perris.
  22. I was locked in a classroom for the coach course and/or was doing the eval dives for the rating. Also, Chicagoskydiver has some good advice regarding the tracking. Track perpendicular to the line of flight of the jump run. Again, for safety.

AV8R, Congrats. Make it out west and we can scare each other in some downplanes, etc. Shark CCR-2113
  24. So, Vike, What Category are you on? Tracking is probably the skill to improve on. Other than that, practice your floating exits and dive exits. Presentation to the relative wind is essential to a good exit. When you start jumping with groups they will gracious if you have a good exit and will probably ask you onto more skydives. This is were your time and practice will pay off. Finish the skydive with a good track.
