  1. I'd be interested to see some super flushy mounts with minimal to no snag points. Anyone got anything like that? Base # 942 The race is long and in the end, its only with yourself.
  2. ROL, OMG haha do they even make those any more? Nah, I'm talking base pouch on the WS. I'm actually kinda surprised that people would be switching the location of their PC, I mean, why mess with the muscle memory? Maybe I'm being a complete n00b, but was there some crazy incident with a base pouch that has caused everyone to back away from their use in skydiving? Base # 942 The race is long and in the end, its only with yourself.
  3. Discovery4, congrats on getting your A!! One thing I would recommend is troll around the web for all information and discussion of wingsuit flying you can get your paws on. The more informed you are in regards to this quickly evolving sport the better prepared you will be when you're ready to jump a WS. Oh, and enjoy your next 200+ jumps, no need to rush into anything!!! Base # 942 The race is long and in the end, its only with yourself.
  4. Cool, thx! So I'm curious, and maybe I should have posted this to the base forum, but for people who wingsuit skydive and wingsuit base do y'all switch your pilot chute location depending on the venue? Base # 942 The race is long and in the end, its only with yourself.
  5. Hey y'all!! Dang I've been away for a long ass time, stupid career. Anywho... I'm getting back into the swing of things and was curious what the community's general opinion was about leg mounted pilot chute pouches on wingsuits. Prior to my hiatus, a leg pilot chute pouch was the new "hot dog" setup for base and skydiving, but people were starting to not bother with the leg pouch. From the brief skimming I've done of recent threads it appears that most people are sticking with BOC for skydiving at least. Is this correct? Or is the leg pouch with velcro shrivel flap still in use? Base # 942 The race is long and in the end, its only with yourself.
  6. Actually… Avery’s right, what’s the fucking point... I posted this in response to my gut reaction to seeing this show totally by chance since my Tivo recorded it as a suggestion. After thinking about it some more I really don’t care, I really doubt there will ever be a day when base or skydiving doesn’t have a negative image throughout the general public. So fuck what the public thinks about the sport, and good for Eli and everyone else making easy money off the show. With or without the show or others like it, the public perception of the sport is never going to change. So I’m going to just keep doing my thing and forget about caring how the sport is portrayed. At least there is europe... Base # 942 The race is long and in the end, its only with yourself.
  7. Very true... I didn't think about it too much when I posted it, but you are correct, I guess that was a pathetic attempt at trying to ease some of the flaming that will probably ensue, and a hint at the desperation that I experience when I get my tuition bill. But hey... its the internet where everyone trys to find someone to put down from behind the protection of their computer. Base # 942 The race is long and in the end, its only with yourself.
  8. Ok... So I'm gonna come out of posting retirement to comment on this. I doubt I'm the only one thinking this, but isn't stunt junkies just a big ol' "Look at me!!" egomaniac fuckfest? I mean seriously... WTF? I think that this is really a “shock and awe” type of show that doesn’t really do anything constructive surely for base and possibly for skydiving. All this type of show does is excite the brain dead masses in a blood hungry frenzy for some extreme sport carnage. What does this show do for an already misunderstood sport? In my opinion, and I’m sure to get flamed for it & that’s cool, this just furthers in the public’s mind the idea that base and skydiving are a bunch of extreme wackos who take stupid risks for the sheer spectacle of the “stunt.” This isn’t what these sports are really about and anyone who has gotten over their ego can tell you that. I know I haven’t been around as long as a lot of other base jumpers, but I know we all see certain people in this sport who are so caught up in their image of being “The Most Extreme” or the most dangerous or whatever, and history shows that these people, who only respect their egos and not the sport, are the ones who get hurt or killed. Come on people base is about meticulously calculated risk, not “Hey, look how fucking cool I am!!” Flame away…. PS. This is not at Eli, but rather at the whole idea of making base and skydiving a spectacle for the masses that only want to see someone get fucked up. I haven’t met Eli personally, but I have met his wife and if he is as cool as she is than he is a stand up guy. Shit, if someone wanted to pay me to do a show like that I’d have a hard time turning down the money, gotta pay for college somehow…. Be safe out there… Base # 942 The race is long and in the end, its only with yourself.

  10. I carried mine on and had no problems until I went through security in Paris. The security scanner didn't like the slider grommets and connector links and wanted to look at them and when I pulled my rig out of the bag they decided that no matter what it had to be checked. So my thought is if you're going to carry it on don't have it packed so you can that if they want to inspect anything you can easily show them what the metal pieces are cause thats what they are interested in. 11. Ray, I couldn't agree with you more. Base # 942 The race is long and in the end, its only with yourself.
  12. Before this turns into a gang bang flame fest why don't we let the accused jumpers relate their side of the story rather than pouncing on them when hardly anyone knows what actually happened. You're all making assumptions off of a fucking NPS report and we all know that the NPS plays fairly WTF... Come on guys, this is a mistake anyone could have made. So lets wait and hear from the three jumpers before we all gang up on them. They are going to suffer enough between losing their gear, fines, and courts fees so lets not add to it by ex-communicating them from the community. You're all acting like they're a bunch of poachers or something. Base # 942 The race is long and in the end, its only with yourself.
  13. Thats pretty much how I do mine just higher as Tom noted. I use more or less tape depending on the delay. Also I don't tape the lines that the slider is stowed on, so its two less lines than if you were using the slider down tailgate. Don't get too greedy with the tape cause a hang up would suck. Its worked quite well for me, but thats just me so your results may vary... Base # 942 The race is long and in the end, its only with yourself.

  15. Hey, Pope... Do any of you guys use a ringsite when you're filming base? Base # 942 The race is long and in the end, its only with yourself.
