2:00 AM, should be asleep, have to work tomorrow.. Flip on the TV, lay back in bed.. Suddenly I see the pink skyvan! http://www.pink.at/skyvan.htm It's a TV series! The pilot is intoxicated/unconcious and the plane is on auto-pilot (the 'jumprun'lightswitch with a sticker on it:), a resque helicopter is flying alongside, and they lower a guy onto the roof, he walks along the roof towards the cockpit (rig clearly visable:) climbs in, and sees the pilot is still alive. The haul the pilot out via the winch, and then they're out of gas...the guy flying then (geez...what would he do...he's in a skyvan:) jumps out with a parachute that's just lying around.. The skyvan crashes into a wall and explodes (cool model:) Damn..I never watched/seen medicopter before (an austrian TV series), but this episode was pretty damn cool!! The I realized it was 3:00 AM, and I had to get up at 7:00...I'm at work now...wishing I had some more sleep...my head is killing me :) JC FlyLikeBrick I'm an Athlete?

Don't get me wrong, Iraq is up to something, but the way the US wants to start a war is just sickening. Quite a bit of the evidence shown is old stuff. If it were recent evidence they wouldn mention "it was taken 3/5/7 years ago" but instead we get some vage "In this movie, found by UNSCOM a couple of years ago" There have been quite a few newssites reporting that almost all the 'evidence' (pictures/video) is from the early 90's/first gulf war, (swedish experts say it's from 1991) but for some silly reasons these reports don't show up on cnn.com. Granted..there is also a lot of stuff showing that Iraq is up to no good, and that whole mess should end...but is war the way to do it? In terms of US new they only show the 'we must go to war' stuff...al pretty biased news... Gues there's no way in h*ll this war wil be avoided....bush just wants to...he doesn't care what the rest of the world thinks/wants... Then again..who am I to say anything about this... CNN.com stated that people are STEALING shuttle debris, and there have been SEVERAL people offering shuttle debris on F*CKIN EBAY!!! WHAT IS WRONG WITH THOSE PEOPLE!!? I've had Astma my whole life, been hospitalized quite a few times for lengthy periods due to in-abillety to get anough air into my system. Got pretty bad a few times. In short...I got it pretty bad...:) When I strated skydiving 2 uears ago I was pretty scared about what would happen at altitude (lack of air?) but since I started on S/L I just only went up to 3.000/7.000 ft for the first 40 jumps or so. I then asked a JM who knew I had Astma to keep an eye on me the whole way up to 12.000 ft, just to make sure I didn't pass out or anything. Due to a holding we went to 13.000 (normaly you'd be happy, but it got me pretty frustrated at the moment) But I was fine, didn't have any problems. My doctor had already told me beforehand that (if I'm not sick) my longcapacity/functioning on 12.000 ft or so would probably be the same as someone who smokes...(if you smoke AND have astma, like one f*ckup I know, then your asking for trouble) i must advice NOT TO TAKE YOU INHALER UP IN THE PLANE. It's a canister that's under pressure, taking it to 12.000 ft probably aint the brightest idea. Just take it before your jump (since stuff like Ventolin/Salbutamol takes a while to take effects anyways) or ask for roto-disk versions (powder instead of presurized containers) Just on the safe side, I have astma pretty bad and quite frequently have problems with it (coughing/no air/get pneumonia and shit like that pretty fast), but I do sport a lot. If you have astma and do nothing to stay fit (enlarging your long-capacity) you could get intro trouble. Hope you do fine.. Cya, JC FlyLikeBrick I'm an Athlete?

I own/jump a Coe-D 190 (9 cell) Done about 60 jumps with it the past 3 months, and I like it a lot. The one I have is an old used canopy, but it stil flies great. Landings are nice and soft, and (why most people buy the chute:) it's pretty cheep compared to a 'real' PD 9 cell (or any other chute) From what I've seen there are 3 variations, one that's full ZP, one that only has a ZP top on the chute, and a full F111 version (the one I have). If you ask me...it's a nice canopy, I realy love the way it flies.. It's my first chute, and a nice big COE-D is a nice canopy to transition to from student material. Do check if you're buying a full/half or no-ZP version. They supposedly fly quite different, and with the F111 version going slighly bigger (190+) wouldn't be a bad idea, especialy if it's your first chute.. The guys at PISA are real friendly and will probably answer any questions you might have via @mail. JC FlyLikeBrick I'm an Athlete?

Although I won't judge anyone who doesn't pack his own chute, I think it's just handy (and more economical) to pack for yourself. I'll always know who to blame for a packing-error, and I don't have to pay for a packer, jumping is expensive enough already... There's a few people on my club who practice precision landing for a sport. over a 1000 jumps each, mostly hop& pops trying to hit a target the size of a dime....not my sport...but anyways... To spare money, they spent a couple of holidays doing towed landings/lifts. The cable would get them to 750/1000ft, they'd unhook, land and be back up again (no packing involved) and do 20 to 30 'jumps' per day. The only funny thing is that it doesn't count as a parachute jump (since you don't jump from an aircraft, and the parachute is not closed in the container while jumping) so it's just paragliding...or something like that.. So...to say in a few words what took me a whole essay...it's done quite often as 'cheep and fast' training If you check the first picture you'll notice the sexy tights most PA people wear on 'jumps' like this..
