  1. contact information: Call 1-800 ASSHOLE...good chance you might be able to reach him there..:) What I don't understand is, how can a TV station air something like this without aksing someone involved (besides the student) on what it actualy is that's happening here..? I know TV stations don't like to check up stuff, but this is kinda heavy... I've heard of various camera-people who (if they)video-ed nasty stuff like this, they would only give the student the 'healty' part of the video. A video like this one, could have been cut at the point where he pulls his main. He would still have some video, but nothing which could get the JM's or DZ into trouble or could put the sport in a bad light... But I gues that's just up to the person making the video... 2. This is not the trailer you've seen in the cinema's already...it's a brand new one.. MAN..those first few shots of *** falling down that building, and *** taking off, with the floor rippeling beneath him...WAAAYYY COOL!! I already took a day off...I'm going to the first showing!! 3. The guy sitting there talking looks like someone who got the advice (or decided himself) to quit the AFF training, and then proceded to make an ass, of a sport that didn't want him, on TV.. It's not good PR material...although I actualy believe it IS good recruting material in terms of getting new students. According to our DZ owner, there are usualy twice as many people writing in for FJC after an accident or nasty mention of skydiving in the media... Not sure if thats a good thing though...but since the public oppinion is already pretty much screwed up...who cares...I gues..:( JC FlyLikeBrick I'm an Athlete?
  4. Just finished watching the 4freefall (real)video new at ftp.skydivingmovies.com. That's just WRONG!! *edit* CLICKY LINK TO THE FILE ftp://ftp.skydivingmovies.com/uploads/4freefall_t1.rm An AFF'er pulls his release-pillow instead of his ripcord, and when the JM pulls his main just flips of his back, and he has to pull his reserve to save his ass (if the cypress doesn't do it for him) The docu voice-over just states that it's not his fault. and the guy just sits there and talks about how everything was wrong (but never saying it was actualy his own mistake), and then he goes on about 'what now...' when he didn't have a main 'they didn't train me on this' What do you mean they didn't train me on this..?? No main at your dec. altitude..go for your reserve...they teach this to everyone right??? Then he proceded to land in some powerlines... You can't blame someone on jump#1, but still...it's HIS mistake... But he just sits there, and blames everyone except himself, and gets nationwide media-attention for doing so...verry wrong.. 5. but its real expensive Other arguements aside, if this is your reason for not buying one you have some serious thinking to do.. JC FlyLikeBrick I'm an Athlete?
  6. Does anyone have experience with Air France and their policy on taking my rig allong as carry-on. My rig is about 10kg (old chunky vector II) and this is within the 12kg limit, but I'm not sure if the customs will allow me to carry it on me (in a gear-bag) I'm traveling from Holland, via France to Russia (and back) If anyone has a good or bad experience on any of these airports/countries...please let me know (I'm especialy worried about russia) JC FlyLikeBrick I'm an Athlete?
  7. If my memory serves me correct, in Holland you would have to have a C licence and 500 jumps, and be able to demonstrate quite a few things (a stable daffy for 10 seconds amongst those) before you are allowed to even look at a skyboard. JC FlyLikeBrick I'm an Athlete?
  8. You can also use the export option in premiere to save an image and then set it to even or un-even fields, and the image will also be deinterlaced.. deinterlacing this way is also a good idea when exporting/saving something for online.. JC FlyLikeBrick I'm an Athlete?
  9. I think it's also because the human flight part is getting less and less. With a birman suit it's still the human body that basicly functions as the airplane body. But those rigid wing designs more and more go towards a glider-plane under which your hanging. And if fitting those things in a big otter or skyvan is already a big issue...almost nobody would be able to jump them... JC FlyLikeBrick I'm an Athlete?
  10. Did a bungy jump once where I was launched/catapulted from the ground...that was a pretty cool experience..but aside from that...the price you pay for the numbers of feet in freefall is rediculously high :) And skydekker...ik wist niet dat je nederlander was eigenlijk? 11. New bon jovi video came on. Kinda like his music so I let it play. There's a kid standing on a roof, everyone at home thinks suicide...I kinda laugh....dude...why kill yourself...just base the building...way more fun and less messy.. He jumps off, and I'm thinking...Dude..that's one fubar exit! He does more freefall time and back/fron-loop then keanu ever did in Point Break, and when he is about to hit the pavement (after about 1,5 minutes), he pulls out his pilot-chute and lands under a base-canopy in front of his laughing girlfriend (who had no idea he ever practiced skydiving or base-jumping:) Still....a fun video...anyone see it? 12. I sure hope global warming aint a myth...hell, we should start "skydivers for global warming" groups... What's wrong with warmer weather...bring it on! And as for the water rising...just call the dutch...we're used to dealing with water (schiphol airport is actualy 4 meters below water-level, as 60% of holland :) JC FlyLikeBrick I'm an Athlete?
  13. What amazed me quite a lot while watching the movie is how little seperation they had on some openings. There are times when they've completed the star, and they all just do a 180 and open without even a small attempt at tracking. As the camera-man continues to fall you see chutes open en fly in every direction except the right one.. Looked quite dangerous to me...but then again...who am i (a lame chacky chan movie I was in as an extra btw;) JC FlyLikeBrick I'm an Athlete?

Old one, but a great quote: One knows the world has gone crazy when the best rapper is white, the best golf player is black, the swiss win the Sailing American Cup, France accuses the US of arrogance and the germans refuse to go to war JC FlyLikeBrick I'm an Athlete?
  16. Could be a late april fools joke or an automatic updated date on that newspage.....cnn.com doesn't say a thing, so it's not true...if cnn.com says so, I'll believe...:) JC FlyLikeBrick I'm an Athlete?

  19. This was actually a quite cool april fools joke posted on several large (dutch) news sites..scared the shit out of most readers :) The number of users expected to be arrested gave it away...412.003..as in 4 - 1 - 2003 :) Surely scared the shit out of me...just because..ehm...friends use KaZaA a lot.... 20. My favorite sigarette is a trampled/broken one that hasn't been lit. I hate those things.. Going to a bar (in holland) is virtualy impossible for me because of the damn smoke. I have Astma pretty bad and 10 minutes in a smoky place totaly screws me up for the next 2 days. Hate it... JC FlyLikeBrick I'm an Athlete?
  21. why would you want that? Yea...why? isn't this sport all about looking cool. Hell..given the right (small)gear and cool clothing your an exprienced skydiver without actualy being one...just looking cool is enough..and nobody looks cool or sexy with a protec..:) They do make great first jump pictures though. There's nothing cooler then scared face (trying to look happy) that's looking at the camera from under the edge of a waay to big pro-tec with a squished face :) JC FlyLikeBrick I'm an Athlete?
  22. Translated from the Dutch news-service: Starting this week, the FBI will start a series of arrest of KaZaA users, in cooperation with the Recording Industry Association of America (RIAA) The RIAA and the organization BUMA/STEMRA have been working on this action with permittion from the US government for over 7 months. Instead of former searches focussing on child pornography (like earlyer actions) the current action is focussed on the illegal downloading of software and music files. The action was actually planned to not start until later this year, but "The RIAA offered us the unique chance to work with them on this test, thereby making it possible to finish the project 4 months ahead of the time we had scheduled before" according to Tim Kuik, director BUMA/STEMRA. Last year a similar action was held in Denmark. Several KaZaA users from Denmark got billed for illegal copies of software on their home computer. However, no arrest where made. The current action however, will focus on actually arresting the users that could be labeled as KaZaA distribution centers by the amount of illegal software on their computer(s). The intention of this action is to put a halt to the large-scale use of KaZaA. Unlike services such as Napster, KaZaA doesn't run from a central server, but the network is made up through so called peer-to-peer connections. Because of this it's almost impossible to put a halt to it's use. As long as people will be running the program the network will be up. Starting January 2003 the FBI has been running several KaZaA servers with several thousand files, ranging from games to office-software, and mp3's to films. About 412.003 KaZaA users have also been checked for software on their computers. The RIAA had already announced this earlyer. Several thousand users offering illegal content have been registered this way, Several large providers such as AOL have received a court-order to make their members personal information available to the FBI. The state police, working together with the FBI will make several hundred arrest today, hopefully surprising about 200 people behind their computers.Later this week more arrests wil follow, the FBI couldn't tell how many arrests they'll be making. With every arrest all the materials on location will be taken for further investigation. All offenders will looked at on a case by case basis to determine the amount of money they will be charged with, or in some extreme cases, prison time. KaZaA itself will also appear in court later this year. Something that was not possible up to now because the servers and the company are not based in the USA. JC FlyLikeBrick I'm an Athlete?
  23. I also never had a problem with the customs at Schiphol. Next month will be the first time I'll be passing through with my rig though...curious to how that'll go :) How long will you be in Holland? Depending on what you want. No matter how cool and 'lose' Amsterdam is, do try and see other places if you 'realy' want to see holland. Just seeing Amsterdam is like just visiting a casino in vegas and saying you saw America...(even though it sure is a helluvalottafun) JC FlyLikeBrick I'm an Athlete?
  24. Paterns are quite hard to come by. Your best bett would probably be to borrow a good suit from someone and use that as an example for her to make a patern.. JC FlyLikeBrick I'm an Athlete?
  25. Most sites that sell suites have nice b/w cards where you can specify colors. Just open of of those images in paint/photoshop (or notepad if your a die-hard:) and use the paint bucket to fill the area's in your colors of choice to see how it looks... JC FlyLikeBrick I'm an Athlete?
