  1. Clicky for the BCPA! (including useful stuff about starting a club!) --- Swoopert, CS-Aiiiiiii! Piccies
  2. I tell you that Eloy is a dangerous place to land! When I had my mal there last year, I landed on one of Tim's practice golf balls! --- Swoopert, CS-Aiiiiiii! Piccies
  3. All coached jumps (WARP and Freefly) from club aircraft with club instructors are your slot only at Strathallan. So a WARP jump from 10"000ft for £15/17! (Slot is altitude + £5 for members, + £7 for non-memebers) --- Swoopert, CS-Aiiiiiii! Piccies
  4. One of the proposed solutions that the BPA RAPS Working Group are looking at involves a redesigned static line bag, which includes this feature. The idea is that most entaglements on RAPS come from bad exits, where the jumper is one-side down. This may lead to one riser being held in place (temporarily) by the reserve tray. This causes the riser to bag distance to be different from side to side, which means that one set of lines (leading from the lower side of the jumper) is taut, and the other (on the higher side of the jumper) is loose. The loose lines are now in amongst the legs and arms of the tumbling jumper, allowing the possibility of entanglement. The riser lift tabs ensure that the risers will both be lifted away from the reserve tray, prior to the line deployment, and keeps the riser to bag differing lengths to a minimum, which should help to reduce the instances of entanglement. The other features this bag has include a Centre Base Tie, a more aerodynamic shape, and stows on the flap (rather than the sides of the bag). It has proven extremely effective in testing so far, but we still have a long way to go. --- Swoopert, CS-Aiiiiiii! Piccies
  5. I have just ordered a new Next, to fit a Crossfire2 169 and a Smart 175, with a view to downsizing the Xfire2 to 149 next year...I don't need to worry so much about two-out compatability, cos I don't jump a two-out device (AAD). (My other two rigs are a Fury 220/Laser-7 (227) and a Sabre 190/Tempo 210). --- Swoopert, CS-Aiiiiiii! Piccies
  6. Dead angry.... --- Swoopert, CS-Aiiiiiii! Piccies
  7. Bint! That was my 500th!!!!! You totally spoiled it...I'm surprised I even let you jump with me anymore, now I've got my meaningless FF2 sticker! --- Swoopert, CS-Aiiiiiii! Piccies
  8. Pah! I got all excited there...in the Mag itself, the pics were all of my first repack of my Laser-7 reserve...They've swapped em all for Sward photos on the web --- Swoopert, CS-Aiiiiiii! Piccies
  9. I know someone that had something simlar to this happen, on both sides, on a reserve that they jumped!! Thankfully, they were very light under their reserve, and survived a rear riser flare landing into the gravel with no injury...Interestingly, this was also packed by a rigger in England...Needless to say, that was the first and last time she used that rigger! --- Swoopert, CS-Aiiiiiii! 10. >>Individual display team insurance > >Thats already firmly on the cards for next year And this has already happened (All our 1st Time Jumps just went up £5): --- Swoopert, CS-Aiiiiiii! Piccies
  11. The stoopidest one I saw: Reserve: Plan B not so bad so far...but... Cutaway: Plan A Doh!!!!!! (Mind you, I'd like to be that guy's rigger!) --- Swoopert, CS-Aiiiiiii! Piccies
  12. The same thing is true of all the Wings manuals I have seen for throw-away...the pictures say one thing, the text another...leaves it open to discussion... --- Swoopert, CS-Aiiiiiii! Piccies
  13. Next/Teardrop/Talon Crossfire2/Crossfire2/Triathalon Smart/Tempo/Laser-7 (Freefly)/(Formation)/(CRW) Mmmmmmm....6 out of 9...getting there... --- Swoopert, CS-Aiiiiiii! Piccies
  14. I have my rigs made so they can close bottom-top-left-right...I close the first three flaps normally, and then route the pull-up from the top down on the right flap (ie backwards), then put my pull-out pin through the loop, with just the tip showing. This means it is nigh on impossible for the pin to be knocked out, and it is easy to self pin-check, by feeling along the edge of the right flap for the tip of the pin. (As I mentioned before, I'm a control freak!) I will take a photo, and put it on here tonight...
  15. Man I wish I was back there again...Eloy, I miss you!!! --- Swoopert, CS-Aiiiiiii! Piccies
  16. I jump pull-out because I like to know when my main pin is pulled...it aids the decision making process during a malfunction scenario. Also, I can close my rig with my main pin under my last flap, ensuring the only way it's coming out is if I pull it out...(Same reason I jump a pop-top) Guess I'm a bit of a control freak really. I like to know that the only way either of my paracutes deploys is by pulling the handle. (My AAD is my left hand). --- Swoopert, CS-Aiiiiiii! Piccies
  17. Care to put a square footage estimate on that baby? I think even I could load that under 1:1 --- Swoopert, CS-Aiiiiiii! Piccies
  18. Following you saying this in an earlier thread, I phoned up GQ, as I was concerned that there are several X210Rs and X175Rs still in circulation at my DZ (13-18 years old). The response I got was that the 15 year life is a liability issue, much as most American manufacturers life their reserves at 120 days, and then it's up to the rigger...so GQ have said, after 15 years, they will no longer be liable...They then suggested that if the canopy was in good condition, it could still be packed, but that I may want to go to Paragear.com, who sell more up to date designs! So it seems like, as usual, the whole thing is a fudge. --- Swoopert, CS-Aiiiiiii! Piccies
  19. He's talking about the RI freebags...They have come with a triangular flap as standard for at least 10 years (Just packed a 93 Talon Freebag with one...) --- Swoopert, CS-Aiiiiiii! Piccies
  20. 240-270 Exit Weight (Dependent on how much packing I've been doing!) 600+ jumps on Mini-Risers...including several openings that left me dazed...no breaks yet... --- Swoopert, CS-Aiiiiiii! Piccies
  21. Why should we equip our front and back first time static liners with an automatic activation device (which by the way would have to be an FXC12000J) when we have not had a malfunction on that kit in it's 20 years of use? (Touching a huge piece of wood) The kit simply doesn't malfunction. We have done over 10,000 jumps with no problems, and now you want to put an extra piece of kit on there???? Why? Oh and quoting from the proposed rule (My emphasis added): I agree that it should be used for freefall front and back kits...and we already do so. [rant] As for the comments about bans, civilized countries and antiques... How many people died on front and back static line kit in the last 10 years...and how many on piggyback kit? Our front and back kit is designed for use by students, particularly on static line, whereas all piggyback static line kit is bastardised freefall kit, distinctly not suited for static line, which has led to many deaths...which is the one that should be banned? [/rant] And breathe... --- Swoopert, CS-Aiiiiiii! Piccies
  22. Read the rule again....my emphasis added --- Swoopert, CS-Aiiiiiii! Piccies
  23. They are. The AAD recommendation came about after the Panel of Enquiry into Esmond Liggett's death. The Low Turns Panel has been going for some time, and I would say that it is that, as well as the RAPS Working Group and the Insurance Working Group, that are the main focuses of the BPA right now. edit - for spelling Also...We are the BPA. Each one of us that pays our money, becomes part of the Association. You don't like something about your Association? Change it! --- Swoopert, CS-Aiiiiiii! Piccies
