  1. Thank you for being on it Definitely a jump to remember, as all 000s should be --- Swoopert, CS-Aiiiiiii! Piccies
  2. Definitely Probably my scariest jump on that canopy since I did my first jump on it... Like I said above, I don't plan on repeating that any time soon... --- Swoopert, CS-Aiiiiiii! Piccies
  3. I'll let the images speak for themselves... GateSwoop.mpg Hmmm.jpg OnTheOtherSide.jpg XFire2FlatPack.jpg Suffice to say, I won't be doing that again in a hurry... Had to be done once though... --- Swoopert, CS-Aiiiiiii! Piccies
  4. I'll let the images do the talking... GateSwoop.mpg Hmmm.jpg OnTheOtherSide.jpg XFire2FlatPack.jpg Suffice to say, I won't be doing that again in a hurry... had to be done once though... --- Swoopert, CS-Aiiiiiii! Piccies
  5. As much as this feels unnatural...I disagree... In the first instance, I would go back to the rigger, and voice your concerns. If he/she doesn't satisfy you with their answer, then do the above. How is the rigger ever going to improve (if there is a problem), or allay your fears (if there is not), if you don't? I feel the first point of contact should be the rigger. If they're unreasonable, don't deal with them anymore. --- Swoopert, CS-Aiiiiiii! Piccies
  6. Dayum...you beat me to it... --- Swoopert, CS-Aiiiiiii! Piccies
  7. High. My rigger = me... PS I don't smoke or drink...but that's my choice...I don't think anyone comes to me specifically because I don't drink or do drugs... --- Swoopert, CS-Aiiiiiii! Piccies
  8. From the above link: Imagine having a mal 11 miles from shore and going to a normal reserve canopy!!!! --- Swoopert, CS-Aiiiiiii! Piccies
  9. Hi, I used an original Talon (1989) for headup flying for two years with no ill results. Get your rigger to contact Sandy Reid at Rigging Innovations (Talon manufacturers) and ask about putting the Voodoo style tuck tabs on the reserve flap. He did it for mine when I was over in Eloy, and it worked a treat
  10. By the fact that you're packing in accordance with the manufacturers instructions. Thanks Matt, that's exactly what I meant. Been a wee bit busy with real life stuff at the mo. --- Swoopert, CS-Aiiiiiii! Piccies
  11. Flap Closing Order for Javelins: Manual says: Bottom, Top, Left, Right. Common Sense says: Bottom, Top, Right, Left. I say: Follow the manufacturer's recommendation. That way, if the worst happens, you're covered. --- Swoopert, CS-Aiiiiiii! Piccies
  12. The Wings manual is crap. Seriously though, it's incredibly unprofessional to have a manual that contradicts itself it not one, but two places... --- Swoopert, CS-Aiiiiiii! Piccies

    Andy Frew

All, It is with great sadness that I have to inform you all that Andy Frew, secretary of Skydive Strathallan, passed away last night at Monklands Hospital. Andy suffered a setback yesterday, slipping back into a coma, and the medical staff advised his family that there was no more that they could do for him. Andy passed away at 10:30 last night. Andy never gave up, despite being dealt some of the cruellest blows imaginable, and had the club and skydiving foremost in his heart to the end. Only a fortnight ago, the first thing he communicated to me when I visited him, was that I'd better make sure the Club Achievements went into the Mag on time! I will post funeral arrangements as soon as I have them. Blue Skies Andy, Ru. -------------------- DATE: Sat, 12 Jun 2004 09:27:24 +0100 SUBJECT: Re: [skydivestrathallan_announce] Andy Frew... >Sorry to say that Andrew passed away last night at 10.30 p.m. Could I ask >you to pass on our sad news to everyone on your list? Will advise funeral >arrangements later. The dress for the occasion will be BRIGHT COLOURS - >NOTHING DRAB. >Rupert, Thanks for all your help over the past year. > >Regards to everyone at Strathallan. > >Robert, Jane & Allison. --- Swoopert, CS-Aiiiiiii! 14. You used the CC service, and paid for it. Just cos you got your money for the jumps back, why should you get the money for the service back...it's like saying if you cross a toll, then come back, you should get your toll fee back! You probably actually got away with one, because the DZ will have been charged to refund you, as well
  15. Scuse the ignorance, but "cone" style? --- Swoopert, CS-Aiiiiiii! Piccies
  16. Ditto, but read pence for cents --- Swoopert, CS-Aiiiiiii! Piccies
  17. where? --- Swoopert, CS-Aiiiiiii! Piccies
  18. I'm not to sure about that. Companies are now closing off the noses of canopies to create an airfoil with less drag. An open nose creates a lot more drag than a closed one. I think he was talking about quicker openings rather than whilst in flight. --- Swoopert, CS-Aiiiiiii! Piccies
  19. Sounds like another prank along the lines of the cutaway watch...Belly bands were banned here in the UK many years ago... Edit: Errr...having re-read the post, I meant that belly band deployment devices were banned...not that this has anything to do with that! --- Swoopert, CS-Aiiiiiii! Piccies
  20. Hehe...doh! Didn't realise you were counting jump numbers in hundreds... --- Swoopert, CS-Aiiiiiii! Piccies
  21. I've got a friend who's trying to wangle one through the ASIP. He loved the demos he jumped...said they kicked the arse out of the Velocity on turns...and opened sweet. When Aerodyne told him that they were holding off on them for a while, he told them just to give him one of the demos! --- Swoopert, CS-Aiiiiiii! Piccies
  22. What he said...has worked for me all but one time at East Midlands with some over zealous security guard who thought the X-Rays of my Vans-a-like trainers were irons??? Being a little embarrassed at finding the trainers, he picked up my rig bag and said Whoa!! You can't take this on as hand-luggage! Too Heavy...but my plane was leaving soon, so a little haggling with the airline rep and I was through! --- Swoopert, CS-Aiiiiiii! Piccies
  23. well, mine was "nearly new" When do I get to jump it on my own helmet? --- Swoopert, CS-Aiiiiiii! Piccies
  24. PC105E --- Swoopert, CS-Aiiiiiii! Piccies
  25. Sabre 2's with the factory settings would stall at around that depth on most people...they have (to my eye) extremely short factory toggle settings. --- Swoopert, CS-Aiiiiiii! Piccies
