  1. Does it still? The Legends I've seen don't have it... --- Swoopert, CS-Aiiiiiii! Piccies
  2. I love my neXt...comfortable, durable, and safe. Has (in my not so humble opinion) the most secure main pin protection flap on any skydiving container. I used to say if I had all the money in the world I'd get a Voodoo...now I'd get 2 neXts... --- Swoopert, CS-Aiiiiiii! Piccies
  3. Wish I was in the States at the right time? --- Swoopert, CS-Aiiiiiii! Piccies
  4. Taken by Lazlo (as if you couldn't tell!) over the pond at Z-Hills... Notice the built-in weight...damn Chili's! Hopefully I'll get some cool ones from Perris next month as well! --- Swoopert, CS-Aiiiiiii! Piccies
  5. I may be wrong, since I'm in Scotland , but under the BPA system there is no such rule. You must only jump with people who are qualified to do so, but you don't have to do any FS. See here where it's explained in minute detail, but if you want to freefly, all you need to do is the basics of 2-way relative work...the FS1/FF1 qualifications let you jump with other FS1/non-FS1/FF1 people as you wish... And as for paying your coaches' slots, we don't do that at my DZ All coached FS and FF jumps are your slot only for members --- Swoopert, CS-Aiiiiiii! Piccies
  6. Tom, You must be a BPA member before you can get a BPA A Licence. Have a look on http://www.bpa.org.uk for printable membership forms. Also, It may make sense to delay until April, as the new membership year starts then. (And be prepared for an outlay of around £115). PM me with any other questions
  7. >150 repacks 3 saves (two me...) I was walking around in a daze for quite a while after the first save that wasn't me... --- Swoopert, CS-Aiiiiiii! Piccies
  8. Which one? I see there is an AAD Debate article in the April 2005 edition... --- Swoopert, CS-Aiiiiiii! Piccies
  9. This is a subject that I've always found curious...I don't know if I've been blessed with the right size of hands (and toggles) or just an enormous amount of luck, but I've never (cue much wood touching) come close to having any issues with holding my toggles normally, and using rears on landing. When I first read about this subject, I wondered about it, and every now and then, when up high, I've tried to come up with a way to drop a toggle...I just can't conceive it... Looking at a photo of myself taken the other day, I see that I am holding the toggle normally, over my four closed fingers, and grasping the risers with my thumbs. This would appear to be why I'm not having any issues...I'm doing it the same as Aggie! I'll post the photo later to make myself clear...(and to pose! ) --- Swoopert, CS-Aiiiiiii! Piccies
  10. This is my exact point. With a pull-out you know whether your pin is out immediately...either you pulled the pin and pilot chute out, or not... To illustrate, my EP tree on pull-out: 1. Reach for pud. 2a. Pull Pud (pin pulled) and throw away PC...anything down this branch is cutaway then reserve... 2b. Can't find pud / can't pull pud (pin not pulled)...anything down this branch is pull reserve only... Sound like I've got TIME to make that decision? --- Swoopert, CS-Aiiiiiii! Piccies
  11. Bill, I'd disagree...let's call the different malfunction a container lock. If on a pull-out, I have a container lock, I am definitely cutting away, as the bag will almost definitely come out after I pull the reserve (there'll be no pin to hold it in). With a PC in tow on a throw-away, you don't know whether you have a PC in tow, which may well not release the pin, and thus the bag, or a container lock, which will almost definitely do so. To me, pin in or pin out is a very important distinction. That's what I base my reserve procedures on, if the pin's out, I've got something to cut-away... --- Swoopert, CS-Aiiiiiii! Piccies
  12. Antonio, The Coe-d is a perfectly serviceable South African copy of a PD Sabre. There used to be one on our DZ, and there were no complaints. --- Swoopert, CS-Aiiiiiii! Piccies
  13. Yeah...we used to put radios in pouches on the chest strap, but moved to pouches over the ear holes on Pro-Tecs about 5 years ago.. --- Swoopert, CS-Aiiiiiii! Piccies
  14. I want two Other options!!! 1 for a Paratec NeXt, 1 for a TSE Teardrop SF. --- Swoopert, CS-Aiiiiiii! Piccies
  15. Well...not so much Hot, as Fun... Well I enjoyed them anyway... Edit: That's my XFire2s, a mixture of the 169 and the 139... --- Swoopert, CS-Aiiiiiii! Piccies
  16. overloading? or did you mean underloading?? --- Swoopert, CS-Aiiiiiii! Piccies
  17. Just to clarify...It looks like one set of people are talking about original Crossfires, and one set are talking about Crossfire 2s...Both my Crossfire 2s have had fantastically low front riser pressure. ([email protected], [email protected]) --- Swoopert, CS-Aiiiiiii! Piccies
  18. So, as a foreign reserve packer, you can't packforeign kit under your rating if you pack it in the US?? Eg: I'm taking a couple of trips to the US next year...I pack my own reserve, and most of my friends' in the UK. This is legal if taken to the US. If my friends or I have mals in the States, I can't repack the kits???? --- Swoopert, CS-Aiiiiiii! Piccies
  19. The common perception round here is that deep brakes is the most effective on PD canopies, whereas rear risers are more effective on Icarus canopies...(probably the generally deeper toggle range on Icarus canopies has something to do with this...) --- Swoopert, CS-Aiiiiiii! Piccies
  20. All, It’s that time of year again! The Strathallan Open Week is upon us! This year’s student progression week runs from tonight until Sunday 7th August. This Sunday, we will be standing down out of deference to the Horse Trials, and hopefully operating again sometime on Sunday evening. On Monday a decision will be made regarding the weather. If it’s good, F-GODZ, the Porter from Cockerham, will be up on Tuesday and Wednesday! If it’s not so good, it will be up on Wednesday and Thursday. Many thanks in advance go to our friends from Cockerham who have agreed to share the world’s fastest Pilatus Porter with us this week. There may also be some special guest appearances, including a returning instructor…(if we can persuade her!) A reminder of prices out of the Cessnas: Students: £33 (all inclusive) Experienced: Altitude + £6 WARP/FF Coaching: Own slot only! Prices out of the Porter: Students: £33 (all inclusive) Experienced/WARP/FF: TBC See you all here! Blue Skies, Ru. --- Swoopert, CS-Aiiiiiii! Piccies
  21. Here's my Scottish pound note: Symbiosis: Singlehandedly keeps me up with my friends! I have a eXceL SlowPo with polycotton chest that takes my fallrate from 150+ to a range of 105-125...enabling me to dock on the outside of 14-ways! I have no problem with the build quality, in fact I think it is excellent. Original Lizard: I love my OL freefly suit, I have used it to destruction...literally! I have probably worn it more than any other single item of clothing over the past 3 years, and it finally gave up the ghost 2 weeks ago. Chappy's FF suits rock! --- Swoopert, CS-Aiiiiiii! Piccies
  22. Kim, We still use round resrves, and indeed round mains...for the simple reason that squares kill first time jumpers, whereas rounds don't. The very worst injury that occurs on a round first jump is a clean break of the leg/ankle. Injuries on squares tend towards spiral fractures, compound fractures, and death. The injury rates are comparable at our DZ, jump for jump. Which would you rather have your first timers jump? Our square kit contains square on square though...Easier to train, and less for the student to take in, than square on round. To turn your question back on you... "Any DZ's use square reserves in there (sic) student gear or any other gear? If so, what are the reasons for not getting safer gear? I know of one DZ and have seen a two out situation landed a while back and then more recently the reserve landed where the student had a spiral fracture of his leg. I also know of at least 5 deaths in the past 5 years due to square on square entanglements." --- Swoopert, CS-Aiiiiiii! Piccies
  23. Nope...1100 jumps and counting...*crosses everything* To paraphrase a fellow DZ-commer... "Ru - just lucky I guess!" --- Swoopert, CS-Aiiiiiii! Piccies
  24. Tevas... --- Swoopert, CS-Aiiiiiii! Piccies
