  4. Been a while...so I thought I'd put up three of myself! :D Taken at Wild Geese in Northern Ireland on my VX-123. --- Swoopert, CS-Aiiiiiii! Piccies
  5. Yeah I looked at going that way, but the flights are hideously expensive...cos I'm flying out 27th September. I'd need to go west to east to make those boogies... K-State added, although if I'm late, then I may not make it, as it's adding 4 hours to that day's drive! So..it's looking like: Edinburgh London - 1hr Newark - 7hrs The Ranch - 2hrs Nights 1, 2 Niagara Falls - 6hrs Aerohio - 4hrs Night 3 Skydive Greene County - 3hrs Night 4 Wrigley Field Chicagoland - 6hrs Night 5 SDC - 1hr Night 6 Couch Freaks - 6hrs Lincoln - 3hrs Night 7 Skydive Kstate - 4hrs Mile-Hi - 8hrs Nights 8,9 Moab - 8hrs Night 10 Grand Canyon - 6hrs Hoover Dam - 3.5hrs Vegas - 1hr Night 11 Perris - 4hrs Night 12 Elsinore - 30m San Diego - 2 hrs Night 13 LA - 2 hrs Night 14 London - 11hrs Edinburgh 1hr - Night 15 Here it is! 70 hours of driving over 12 driving days (6hrs a day) to cover 4,050 miles...at 58mph! Looks like I'll need to find me a driving buddy! --- Swoopert, CS-Aiiiiiii! Piccies
  6. Thanks :) Chambersburg isn't open during the days I'd be passing, so I've modded my journey to include Niagra Falls, Aerohio, and Greene County :) Click here for modified route :) Anyone else? --- Swoopert, CS-Aiiiiiii! Piccies
  7. So, being newly cutaway from a long-term relationship, I'm thinking of doing a 2-3 week skydiving road-trip to cheer myself up...I'd like to drive from NY to SoCal, definitely hitting The Ranch, Skydive PA, Wrigley Field, Chicagoland/SDC, Couch Freaks, Lincoln, Mile-Hi, Moab, Grand Canyon, Hoover Dam, Vegas, Perris, Elsinore and San D... What do you guys reckon I'm missing? Any suggestions for sights to see along the way? This is the route Google is suggesting... Blue Ones, Ru. --- Swoopert, CS-Aiiiiiii! Piccies
  8. You rely on it to do exactly nothing when it's not supposed to be doing anything. Unfortunately the older vigils have proven to not be so great at that. As opposed to newer Cypres 2 units... --- Swoopert, CS-Aiiiiiii! Piccies
  9. I can second this, when I'm pushing it at Perris, I regularly get 15+ hop'n'pops into mostly clear sky a day...there are the odd occasion when we have to run in after the jet and I find myself above 50 canopies, but hey, that's life at the (second best) DZ in the world... (And it makes for cool visuals!) --- Swoopert, CS-Aiiiiiii! Piccies
  10. Does anyone know if the Vigil 2 will have the promised higher activation speed Swoop mode? Don't see it in the comparison... --- Swoopert, CS-Aiiiiiii! Piccies
  11. There was a safety notice put out by the BPA a few years ago, calling for the inspection of Teardrop SF Pilot Chute grommets, due to some loops being discovered worn. As far as I can recall, it a was mandatory to inspect, and reset the grommet if found to be sharp. --- Swoopert, CS-Aiiiiiii! Piccies
  12. Dude, this rocks! I'm gonna make another CPC meet this year!!! My goal last year was not to finish last...my goal this year is not to finish in the bottom two!! Can't wait for April --- Swoopert, CS-Aiiiiiii! Piccies
  13. 45...but I think the description's a bit generous! I think I combine traits from the 31-60 range... --- Swoopert, CS-Aiiiiiii! Piccies
  14. Was there any outcome / consensus? --- Swoopert, CS-Aiiiiiii! Piccies
  15. Don't quote me on this, but I believe that it's aimed at the crossbraced market, for those who don't jump every day...the weekend warrior if you will...It's "easier" to swoop than a VX, but in my opinion (300 jumps on VX, 60 on Velo, 50ish on Neos) it more closely resembles a Velocity, due to it's steep trim. It opens (again IMO) much better than a Velocity (less seeky). Effectively, I see it as a Velocity with Crossfire openings...(If you want my full thoughts do a search for Neos...) --- Swoopert, CS-Aiiiiiii! Piccies
  16. The Cypres 2 has been out for around about the same time as the Vigil, and the Argus was not that long afterwards... They've also been proven to fail, as has every other AAD... If you mean that the manufacturer requires periodic maintenance on them, so does the Argus. I would imagine that if you had an issue with a Vigil, the factory would maintain it as well... You mean, like Airtec did with the Cypres? Think error codes... I wish people would lift the marketing wool from their eyes, and look at the facts...all the AADs out there work most of the time, and they have all had failures...don't let any one brand's marketing tell you otherwise. --- Swoopert, CS-Aiiiiiii! Piccies
  17. 18...Wish it was 16! --- Swoopert, CS-Aiiiiiii! Piccies
  18. for me. None of the 's at any of the dropzones I jump at have appeared to turn off in the middle of the day. I can't say the same about the Cypres II. My point...Every AAD has had issues. Don't let anyone tell you they haven't. At the end of the day, it's an electronic device, therefore it has failure modes. Research for yourself what they are, and what they mean to you. --- Swoopert, CS-Aiiiiiii! Piccies
  19. My ears are burning Give me a PM (or email rupertATbreakDASHoffDOTnet) if you want to go up to Strathallan, I drive up from Edinburgh every weekend If you don't want a free lift, you can take the train to Gleneagles, and we'll pick you up from there, just call the DZ on 01764 662 572. As for views...well...this is Scotland! They're all awesome! Hope to hear from you soon
  20. Hey, I know myself and a large Skydive UWE crowd are gonna be out there then It's gonna rock! --- Swoopert, CS-Aiiiiiii! Piccies
  21. I'll keep my eye out for any student rigs with RDS going then... PS Got my VX-123 a couple of weeks ago...that goes in a 190 container! Can't wait to introduce it to the Perris Pond in March/April --- Swoopert, CS-Aiiiiiii! Piccies
