  1. Hi Ivan Please explain to your employer that unless someone replies to emails and answers/returns phone calls it is going to make things a bit hard for customers to book tunnel time. I know the facilities are not fully complete but the tunnel is running. I'm also fine with the fact that payment is cash only. If you could PM me some alternative contact details that would be greatly appreciated. Will
  2. Thanks Piers, at least now I know I'm not the only one finding it hard to book time there.
  3. How did you manage to book the time? Have emailed and left voicemail (from contact details on freezone website) and not had a reply. Anybody know how to book time at this tunnel?
  4. Apologies for going way off-topic here, but why age? Guys like Kirby Chambliss (47) and Peter Besenyei (51) are still kicking ass in aerobatic planes, clearly they still have the reflexes and physical strength to perform at the highest level. Why should swooping be different? Is the youngish average age of participants not just a reflection of the fact that it is still a relatively new discipline? I can see other factors like you mentioned (location, money) or injury, time comittments or just not being comfortable with the risk anymore causing one to stop but I've never really understood the age thing. If Peter Besenyei can still be competitive at 51 flying an aerobatic plane, why couldn't a swooper at the same age? Like I said sorry for going waaaay off-topic here, Ian feel free to delete or split or whatever. cheers, Will
  5. Damn, Outbreak were only 0.3 behind the Frenchies. Pity Babylon couldn't make it but it looks like it is game on for world meet 2008.
  6. That is addictive viewing, thanks to those who made it and hosted the download. Very educational. Does anybody have a rough idea what percentage of the competitors are weekend jumpers?
  7. That was superb! Watching skydiving wingsuit videos can be a bit hit and miss but those two jumps were a total jaw rock. The camera work was good on both, but I thought on the first it was exceptional - nicely framed, steady and tight! On the second I noticed a blue container and a white helmet, things you don't spot when everyone is all over the place. The walkby at the end was total cheese though. Also, the smoke was used to good effect - nice to get the video of it after the breakoff on the first jump. The only reason I've started skydiving with a wingsuit is so I can jump off a cliff with it but then you see shit like that and it totally blows you away. Congrats to all the flyers involved!
  8. "No special effects were used in this commercial. " When I saw how good your hair looked I just knew it couldn't be true... Nice work Zoolander.
  9. He was last diver on the 36 way, also part of the record 40way. Can't believe they made the poor bastard cut his hair short - his team-mates look like a cross between Bjorn Borg and ABBA!

    Red Lake Base Jump

Bloody hell, he is certainly getting around!
  11. Bollocks, JP I am really pissed off. Wherever you are now I hope you are drinking like a viking and telling some of your funny stories. (and standing your landings up, that would be nice too) Will
  12. What the fuck is all that about Space? I hope Maestro is there to uphold the Team Mucho Relax Base traditions : 1. Drink hard 2. Sleep late 3. Hike slow 4. Beware the Bestia! Sorry Gus, Hippo, Dantheman and I missed you this last trip. Will PS cook my socks!
  13. I know a couple of accomplished BASE wingsuit pilots, from my experience of watching them they never fly to 100% of their ability when pushing the limits. Apparently it is the 10% that they hold back that prevents them from smearing themself across an object or into the ground at line-stretch. Sure you can push the limits of your own envelope gradually and build on your experience but it would appear that this guy is putting himself in over his head. What was his BASE wingsuit experience before this stunt? That motorcycle jump? I know he is a friend of yours and a co-sponsored athlete and all but maybe you should explain to him that the longer you live the longer you get to play.
  14. I would've thought it wasn't a body until the landing.
  15. I got my Boogieman suit last month. The fit and style are superb. They are not cheap, I paid 380 Euros but I am very happy with how the suit performs (I'm still adapting to having to fly stronger than with my Flitesuit). The Sonic suits are also nice and slightly cheaper but the style of Boogieman suits sets them apart (for me anyway).
  16. And then of course he'll get the juggling balls out.

    Art Project

Hi Patrick Isn't that cliff on a nature reserve? What if some hikers find it, take some pics and send it in to a paper (lets face it finding something unusual like that in such an unexpected place could be newsworthy locally)? Just a consideration in case the authorities take a dim view and your cool project gets repossessed (or hijacked! ). Will

Man, that is it right there - well put Raistlin.
  19. If the winds are so strong that you have to put yourself intentionally head down on a short delay then maybe not jumping is the sensible option.
  20. Well yes it is a landing issue if you land without a parachute above you.
  21. But Remi surely one wind tunnel in Arizona is enough??
  22. I don't understand why there aren't any tunnels in the top left bit of USA. A prosperous city like Seattle which doesn't have the best weather for skydiving. You'd probably have the cousins from Vancouver driving down to use it too. To me that would be a great location with all the right ingredients, anybody know if any tunnels are planned for Seattle area?

    ITW in April

Hi Sam Take an axe and a saw and you can make some good money retrieving Russian canopies from trees. James did it last time but was too nice a guy to demand a reward. From what I saw last year a taxi service for the Russians from the talus would also make good money. Will PS I'm not picking on Russian BASE jumpers, only the Russian skydivers who don't have the canopy control to handle ITW.

There it is right there. I think of it as the 'BASE Idol' mentality. "Ok, so I'm a BASE jumper so when do I get my 5 minutes of fame?? I mean, shit, at least skydivers should be looking up to me because I BASE jump right???" The way I see it is the jumpers in the trenches at 4 in the morning know the real score. Fuck the glory hounds, maybe they can fool the wannabes on the DZ and try to get their needy egos stroked but that is about it...
