'63 .. i was a 5th grader and was in the school hallway carrying the box with "the SRA Reading program " in it, upstairs to the 3rd grade classroom. The P. A came on, and i sat in the 3rd grade class for 15 or 20 minutes as the office patched a Live radio news report , into all the rooms. '86 ... I was installing a power door opener for a person in her home. saw it on the news.... Soooo hoped that later that day , we would learn of a Top secret, Impossible to damage capsule , made of some super secret super strong material,,,, that fully encased the cockpit compartment and that housed the Entire crew.. I soooo hoped that the President would then march them all out on the stage that night... Declaring " Our foresight and good design and planning, Has allowed us to safely parachute this capsule back to the ocean, where we made the Recovery !!! ... this afternoon "... SADLY it was NOT to be. 9-11 was in my office in Rochester, at 9 am or so, about to head to the home of a freind who had suffered an injury in an aircraft accident... I Was installing a vertical W/C Lift which i had on hand,,, for her... in her garage... As i drove the 30 miles or so, the radio announced that the 2nd jet had struck.... It was a Lousey Day..... all around. Got the work done.. but my mind was " somewhere ELSE ",,, for most of the day.

I would go Las Vegas and visit any nearby casino.. i'd Find a Roulette table that is Almost fully ringed with players, work my way near the numbers and only operate with 100 dollar chips...... i'd stick with only playing black or red, deftly sliding 3 or 4 chips at a time back and forth from one color to another JUST as the ball lands.. while all eyes will be ON the wheel. I'll be "adjusting " my chip location,,,, ONLY as needed... Little by little my chip pile will grow...the staff at the table will be too busy to notice.... Might move around from table to table if need be...

whoa !!! mama !!!! please resist the temptation to break your streak.... not worth it... see post # 16... Much more satisfying... plus then You can be known as a jumper who has one more " reserve ripcord Pull " ,,,,,, than she has " malfunctions " this way, no one gets hurt.. and yet, the POINT is made.. After All.. there Is no need to " Break a Nail " over it...

wow... i have been following this thread since it started because UNLIKE most of the respondents here,,,, I happen to KNOW Exactly WHo the O. P. IS. I skydived with him many a time and have seen him often, at a DZ which i frequent...starting 6 or 7 YEARS ago. He HAS a good attitude.. is safe, listens to and applies the GOOD instruction which he has received. He is NOT overstating his abilities.. IN FACT his abilities which ARE at LEAST above average , should not even be questioned in this discussion. The Guy is simply asking... "where can i GO... to get maximum opportunity to MAKE some skydives..." ? What's wrong with wanting to make a couple of hundred jumps in a short time period?/ Isn't That just what dedicated teams try to do???Isn't that just what we would ALL like to do ??? i KNOW i would... Why do All you self-proclaimed experts jump all over him about that?? Yes he does mention that he's "working towards " a T M rating... working TOWARDS.... THAT is NOt the intent of these jumps...he simply would be adding those numbers to any FUTURE consideration of qualifying for that rating.... It's NOt his primary motivation.!! He also says he wants to work "on canopy skills" So What's WRONG with that???? Would some here,, prefer people WITHOUT such skills?? I did not get the idea that the main reason for his question is so that he can IMMEDIATELY pursue a TM rating the Instant he hits 500 jumps....why do so many here, read it, that way??he said nothing of the sort. sheesh.. Cut the kid a break instead of Labeling him as YOUR poster boy for "the Semi-Qualified TM candidate..." The guy is smart. careful, and when i Knew him was a degree candidate at a first rate college in NYS.... a college for which many here,,,, ( probably myself included ) couldn't even Qualify for Admittance...No doubt he has NOW completed all those degree requirements.. Sooo lets cool our jets here friends..... The past 20 posts or so have NOt included ANY information which answers his simple original question... But gets into debates about time in sport, jump numbers, ability to assimilate information... and Jesusssss NOVA main canopies!!!.. I thought most alll of the NOVAs got tossed into BONFIRES....at some point or another, anyway !! How can ANY of them still be available for SALE??? The O P came up in the sport at a DZ with more than a dozen members, staff, and DZO, who can legitimately claim 40 years in the sport. !! some are pushing 45 years!!! THOSE are the staff who trained spawnmaster, who helped him to Progress, who stoked the fires of his interest in OUR sport...From i what saw of him ,,, In the air and on the ground he has a good fine sense of safety, amount of saavy and patience AND ability to Absorb what he had been taught... ... and NOW all he wants to know is " where can i go ".. to basically continue building on those skills.. that's all... "go South young Man ' or "go West young man".. whatever your schedule and finances allow... Many places in Florida will be jumping during the weekdays... and others HAVE mentioned Eloy, Perris V and L. Elsinore.. ' Cause while we have shared many a safe and high level skydive here at Finger Lakes Skydivers,,, and HE at many other places, Winter is a TOUGH time in the N. E. to "make a couple of hundred jumps." during the November to March time frame He will be Most welcomed wherever he decides to go.. for unlike some around HERE.. he is not over opinionated, he is Not a discouraging type jumper, he is not out to show his Knowledge, by publicly doubting others knowledge...He is smart, and amiable and knows how to carry himself, on a DZ. imho Have Fun Andrew, skydive safely. does the Sister-In-Law attend church EVERY sunday ??? if not then i'd say her 'devotion' is not genuine... HOW does HER husband and Kids feel about the issue??? are THEY also dedicated to her game plan or does she impose HER will on them??? I'll never knock someones desire to "go to church" ... to each his/her own... You sound like a kindred spirit... .....cause I signed MY Dads name,,, to the WAIVER I completed for My First Static line Jump... Picked up the blank paper at a thursday night training class.. " Completed " it the next day with a spot On forgery, Had the page Notarized, at a local bank..... (she notarized MY signing of the paper.) The DZO only cared about whether I PAID or Not,,, and never looked twice at the waiver. I Jumped on saturday. Oh.. I did NOT ROB the bank...... ( guess I'm not REALLY, all that bad ) Then, a couple of years later, after finding out that the DZO was only in it for himself, and cared little for others,,,, I STOLE that original waiver from a file cabinet in his office... ( during the days waaaay before there was a Xerox machine ) Took the original and told my brothers,,, "If anything happens to me while jumping there......Sue His Ass".. Not sure,, but I think "That's Bad ".....

Yeah..???? Well I Run with scissors..... and i do IT Often !!! ..and i plan to do it AGAIN !!!

NONE of them,,,,anymore. i have simply HAD it... with getting my heart Broken,,, time and time again. still watch a game, now and then, mostly looking for Good play, Fair Play and athletic prowess From ANYONE on the field.. but in todays NFL.... there are, too many coaches, too many "experts" too many "commercial time-outs" too many Injuries,,, OUCH!!! College ball IS a bit more fast paced, exciting and unpredictable.. BUT honestly 15 minutes After a game is Over.. i can't even remember who was playing!!! of course i can't remember where the hell i put my car keys.... either, most of the time !!!! " THIS team here,,,, They Will Kick-OFF "!!! p.s. I used to like the Packers, Back in the days of Jerry Kramers " Instant Replay " . But..... once Lombardi went to Heaven,,,, football just didn't seem so important anymore
