Bringing loved ones into the sport
headoverheels replied to gravityizsexy's topic in General Skydiving Discussions
I agree with your brother. Let the kid make his own decision, when he is legally able to do so. I don't encourage anyone to start skydiving. If they show interest, I'll tell them how to go about it. -
It was a) funny b) a compliment (well, maybe the "whiny" wasn't).

Decible levels in freefall? In the aircraft?
headoverheels replied to Deuce's topic in General Skydiving Discussions
I usually wear foam earplugs, from takeoff to landing. My hearing was very good 10 years ago, now it is worse than average. Even a frap hat blocks a lot of noise, and can be worn with tandems. -
Iraq, got this from a friend.. Interesting..
headoverheels replied to rhino's topic in Speakers Corner
??? The first responder to Rhino's post refered to the Snopes link. Or maybe I just missed your point. -
Nah, I already have those, so I'll probably just be the same. Thanks, though. What we need here is a good conspiracy theory, so I'll offer this one: some clever Republican created the document and foisted it off on the media dunderheads, knowing that eventually it would be shot down, making them look the fools they are.

But it's not war time -- I heard Bush declare a year ago that the war was over. Besides, the Iraq war (not the Afghan one) is one of his own making.

I liked the ones I saw on TV that had two heads. Some guy collects them; he had about half a dozen various two-headed turtles. Not sure I would call them sexy, though.

I used to get rapid heartbeats (160 to 230bpm), before I had that fixed 5 years ago. They started when I was about 43. Does that mean I was sexier for those two years? True, I was getting more poontang than when I was younger...

How many Kerry Supporters make over 75K?
headoverheels replied to flysister's topic in Speakers Corner
More than double that, engineer, presently working for a former consulting client, but had my own consulting business for 15 years. My brother, lawyer, way more than me, partner in small law firm. -
Damn, bytch, that new Avitar looks like a harvest moon. Is it that time of year already?

Let me tell you about my PC jump.
headoverheels replied to steve1's topic in General Skydiving Discussions
Good one Steve. I have about 600 jumps on PC's and Papillons. I have more cutaways on shot and a half capewells than I have on 3-rings. I was just thinking recently that I have no interest in jumping one of those again! The liner of my Paraboots rotted away many years ago, but I still have some of those high-top Adidas that we jumped in the late 70's. It looks like we started about the same time, in 1972. -
IS AIRCRAFT & JUMP PILOT INSURED FOR SKYDIVING?
headoverheels replied to foreverfree's topic in General Skydiving Discussions
Privately operated (non-commercial use) aircraft in the USA do not require 100 hour inspections. Rental aircraft do, as do aircraft with paying passengers. Why stupid? I went without hull insurance most of the years I owned an airplane. Money saved could be spent on avionics and maintenance. I don't carry collision insurance on my car, just liability. Insurance spreads out the risk, but the insurance company takes a sizable cut. Anything I can afford to replace, I probably wouldn't insure, unless I thought I was a higher risk than I was being charged for insurance. It's called being self-insured. -
Any comment on the Nitro vs. the Nitron? Other than the super deal you got, of course

Zell Miller - where is the media coverage?
headoverheels replied to Jimbo's topic in Speakers Corner
??? Never said that, and don't need to see the facial expressions. You would be better served by ignoring the visuals and concentrating on what's being said. Excuse my ignorance, but are the "majors" carrying any of the Republican Convention? Did they carry all of the Democratic Convention? I don't know. I have cable, and just tuned to the stations that were covering the conventions. -
Zell Miller - where is the media coverage?
headoverheels replied to Jimbo's topic in Speakers Corner
You could have listened to the speeches live on the radio. NPR carried it, more than a couple of local AM stations carried it. Who didn't was the local "right-wing" rah-rah station (540AM in the bay area). They never carry such, they just go off on some half-truth, screen callers so as to never get any disagreement. -
Just one per month, but I now have about 380 in my cabinet.

I wear mine with my chin tucked into the shell. Otherwise, the shell would be rotatated more to the rear, and my downward visibility (of my handles) would be more limited.

I think you have the Sluggo and Mr. Bill names reversed. i.e., Sluggo is the one who deploys first.

How many jumps before you purchased your own rig?
headoverheels replied to Skylark's topic in Safety and Training
Jumped my own gear, starting on jump number 8. They didn't like that, as it was a high-performance Para-Commander (more likely to malfunction) rather than a 28 foot 5TU.
