  1. Ask the boys at De La Salle HS.
  2. My old high school is off to another kickass season after beating De La Salle High School in Concord, CA last night ...31-30 in overtime. Naughts scored first in overtime and De La Salle elected to go for 2 after scoring and failed. http://www.lakelandfootball.com/homepage.html

    movie quotes

"...... a Roman toga party was held, from which we have received two dozen reports of individual acts of peversion, so profound and disgusting, that decorum prohibits listing them here. These are the charges recorded this day, November 15, 1962." ~Niedermeyer "As of now they're on double secret probation!" ~Dean Wormer.
  4. Wow, Einstein was right, even when he thought he was wrong. Except - even though he was instrumental in the development of quantum theory he never really accepted Heisenberg's "uncertainty principle" and other quantum weirdness. He believed in the principle of "causality"... basically that events happen as a result of earlier events. Conversations and thought experiments with Niels Bohr sort of convinced him but I don't think he really accepted some of the implications of quantum theory. That was expressed by his comment to the effect of "God doesn't play dice with the universe." Whether or not he was right about that at an even more fundamental level than we are today remains to be seen. We still haven't reconciled gravity with quantum ideas.
  5. Don't tell me you've never heard of relativistic time dilation. In a nutshell -- It's a function of how much Oil of Olay one's relative (his old lady for instance) needs to pack on to lose 15 billion years of age. Well, I suppose she would need a little botox and some eye shadow, too. The math is readily found on wiki. Whoops! I think there is an error in the equations. Actually, it is the LACK of use of these cosmetological substances that would stop a clock! The minus sign was in the wrong place. Sorry.
  6. "Women! ...you can't live with them, ...pass the beer nuts!" ~Norm
  7. He may go both ways, but I'll bet "he" doesn't go "to the vet" anymore. They tend to remember that experience. He probably thinks of the vet as a place of refuge. She says SHE did it!
  8. My cat's already plenty shiny as it is. I feed him high-quality food so his coat has a lovely sheen. You have an electric cat?
  9. Sure they do! All their keyboards have "overactive U syndrome" inserting that letter where it doesn't belong. They never bother fixing it either. Just think of all the ink wasted while printing that unnecessary "u" in their documents. The extra "i" in aluminum is also an ink waster. They also commonly misspell "defense". What really drives me up a wall is the term "went missing". When did THAT begin being used in the US? Don't they know that the proper term is "turned up missing" ?!?
  10. Why does anything have to come after the "...."?
  11. That was some great stuff. During Turkey Meet at ZHills about 1994 our 10-way team was often on the plane behind Ron's team (Mike Woods team) as they launched their no-show 10-way. Ron was backed up against the starboard wall and his feet just came off the floor and he flew out of the door as they exited. Amazing sight! As we lined up for our exit you could see the perfect 10-way star dropping away. We and the other teams were just competing for 1st-loser finish! Blue skies, Ron.
  12. He just got into his limo and realized that the driver is .........the Undertaker!

    Tootered?

Yep, that's right. Unlike in the States, where it means angry. Put the two together and you've got someone to steer clear of.

    Tootered?

In London? Broke. "Shit-faced" down in these parts although I've heard/used "hammered", "snockered", "trashed", and "blitzed" among others. (Isn't "pissed" the correct term in UK-ese? ......or does that mean something else?)
  15. I've always thought it would be a lot of fun to show up at a DZ where you were unknown, go through AFF training, and then give the AFFI's a first-time jump they would never forget.
  16. Send him a "whoopee cushion". Be sure to include a note instructing him to hide it under his seat while he's not looking. Boy!... will he be surprised!

    What is it?

If you live in Florida you are living in the banana spider capital of the US.

    What is it?

Yep, Banana spider. Harmless but, try walking into one while out hiking. AHHHHHHHHHHHHH!!!!!!!!!! and i'm not even afraid of spiders. Yeah, me too! I'm perfectly fine with spiders of any shape and size ........unless one is "on" me. Then nothing else matters but getting the dam thing "off" of me! Don't even matter if I break stuff ......or hurt myself .......or others!

    What is it?

banana spider (probably different names in different places) or other type of orb weaver.
  21. Congrats! Her!.....Her!.............
  22. If you leave the spiders alone you won't have any roaches (palmetto bugs).
  23. Great shot! That's pretty much what the view was from Lakeland. My 12-year-old didn't want to get up after 2 false alarms but he said it was worth it. Only a few left.
