  1. Pelosi said: "I don't see the votes for it at this time." Well, then why not continue what has been going on so far: Pay off some politicians by giving their states or districts a billion here or a billion there. Maybe give the unions some cash on top of the sweet deal you already promised them, just in case. There are battered women? I've been eating 'em plain all of these years...

  5. I saw an article in the paper (maybe LA Times) in the last day or two that said that the computer code was so old, it couldn't recognize the extension of benefits. They're working on fixing it. If you search Latimes.com for unemployment, you might find it. I would, but I'm too lazy. There are battered women? I've been eating 'em plain all of these years...
  6. First, because when this administration came to power, all the nice "working together" talk was thrown out the window (along with many other campaign promises.) So, if you're not a democrat, you're not going to get anything passed. Secondly, why raise taxes? Debt means nothing to this administration. Just print more money, then bitch about the deficit and the people "not paying their fair share" when trying to stick it to the people. There are battered women? 7. Wait, you forget what Obama's people were saying when slamming this stimulus bill through congress with nary a read: Unemployment could get as high as 8.5% if they didn't spent all that money. So when our children and grandchildren are unable to pay back this enormous debt, be sure to tell them about all of the benefits of this spending. Oh wait, unemployment is above 10% and climbing. What was the benefit again? There are battered women? I've been eating 'em plain all of these years...

  11. Yeah, a brilliant man. He and his advisers predicted that unemployment would hit 8.8 percent by the last fiscal quarter of 2010. With the package, his advisers argued, the unemployment rate would only reach 7 percent. So now that we're at 10.2 percent, you still think he's great. Oh wait, it's Bush's fault... Try this: Stop genuflecting, and open your eyes. Yes, things will improve, but not because of Obama's policies, in spite of them. The sad part is that when things are better in 2012, he'll take credit for it, and probably get reelected. But don't think that I am enamored with EITHER Bush... There are battered women? 12. I've used a couple, and currently am on Godaddy.com. They have a lot of different options. The web-based admin screens can be slow at times. On a scale of 1-10, I'd give them a 7-8. I had been with hostpro before. Too many problems... They lost my SQL Server database, and then didn't know how to restore from a backup. Once I walked them through it, I got my data back, and went elsewhere. There are battered women? I've been eating 'em plain all of these years...

  14. I bought a Comfortaire (www.comfortaire.com, which is a competitor of Select Comfort, and actually has been in business longer. They are generally less expensive than Select Comfort, and don't have the "slope" issues that another poster complained about with Select Comfort. I don't usually adjust my firmness. I just happened to yesterday since I stayed in a hotel with a very firm mattress, and my back felt fine afterward, so I upped my home mattress by about 20 percent. I've had mine for about 8 years, and I'm happy with it. Would I buy another one? Probably, and I'd still probably choose them over Select Comfort. There are battered women? 16. I've used Ameritrade for a few years now. They have A LOT of research available online. They also have a bunch of trading tools / "platforms." You can see a full list here: http://www.tdameritrade.com/tradingtools/browsealltools.html I'm pretty happy with them. There are battered women? I've been eating 'em plain all of these years...
  17. Wow, I didn't expect to see so many bison fans. I've just been going to my local Whole Foods lately. In the past, I have ordered from www.venisonamerica.com/products/bison.html. There are battered women? I've been eating 'em plain all of these years...
  18. Define "the help of a LOT of people." I am a multi-millionaire, and I think I did it pretty much on my own. During high school, I also took a full load at the local college (which I paid for). I left home at age 18, with a grand or two that I saved from working a minimum-wage job from age 13. I took out loans and worked full time to afford a private college. A year out of college, I quit my "permanent" job, and went into consulting. I was taking a big risk with no sure paycheck. I worked my butt off -- long hours, and no vacations for years. I don't have any "loopholes" to get out of paying taxes. Between federal and state last year, I paid about $150,000. And that's after giving $25-$30K to charities. I'm not lamenting my position, but it pisses me off when I'm told I need to pay more. As it is, each additional dollar I make is taxed at more than 50% between fed, state, and "deduction reductions." 21. Just a note on brake line length on the Storm. When I got my Storm, I thought the lines were way too long. I found several references from PD, saying they were that way by design. Once such reference is in this document: http://www.performancedesigns.com/docs/StormCFStormFAQFlightCharacteristics.PDF. I left mine the original length, and they're fine. Then I got a Sabre2 as a second canopy, and there is a huge difference. They turn and flare differently, but I left them both at the factory-delivered line lengths. All of that being said, it makes sense that arm length would play a part in it... I've also heard various suggetions on improving landings. One that I can think of is to look further out in front of you. It's supposed to help with your depth perception. Since you're really nervous about it, I'd think that using radios would be helpful. Hopefully as you do some successful landings, you get the visual picture in your head of what it should look like when you begin your flares. I know it's discouraging. I hope you stick with it (and don't further injure yourself.) There are battered women? I've been eating 'em plain all of these years...
  22. This brings up the issue of everyone in the plane yelling "go" when the green light comes on. Of course they can't see the spot. I got my training at a Cessna DZ, so I learned to spot (and had some long walks). I DO look before I go. The bottom line is unless you can see where the plane is in relation to the DZ, quit the yelling to go. Even if you know where the DZ is, there could be another reason not to jump such as traffic. There are battered women? I've been eating 'em plain all of these years...
  23. That sucks. I have a "D" license, and I'll jump with anyone (unless they have a really crappy attitude.) I jump with the LO's at Perris a lot, and as long as you have a license, they'll welcome you to jump with them. They usually have multiple LO's so the less experienced don't end up on jumps they can't handle. There are battered women? I've been eating 'em plain all of these years...

  25. This one really burns me: SEC. 102. PROTECTING THE CHOICE TO KEEP CURRENT COVERAGE. (a) Grandfathered Health Insurance Coverage Defined- Subject to the succeeding provisions of this section, for purposes of establishing acceptable coverage under this division, the term ‘grandfathered health insurance coverage’ means individual health insurance coverage that is offered and in force and effect before the first day of Y1 if the following conditions are met:CommentsClose CommentsPermalink (1) LIMITATION ON NEW ENROLLMENT-CommentsClose CommentsPermalink 19(A) IN GENERAL- Except as provided in this paragraph, the individual health insurance issuer offering such coverage does not enroll any individual in such coverage if the first effective date of coverage is on or after the first day of Y1 --------------------------------- So the bottom line is insurance companies cannot enroll new participants after the government's plan goes into effect. The insurance companies will all die off, and we'll be stuck with the government plan whether we want it or not because that's all there will be. There are battered women?
