  1. pretty anxious for my first....waiting till when i get to a DZ with the required equipment. jg
  2. clean sit exit from 14.0....pilot inverted plane and buzzed beside me by about 1000' horiz....beautiful freakin scene man....ground rush back drop....chillin' sit-fly....airplane whizzing by....i love to skydive! jg "dude, where's my main?"
  3. i've still got that flock of geese in my gut dude....it's been quite a few years now. just relax, arch and pull at altitude man....have fun....if it wasn't scary, it would suck. jg "dude, where's my main?"
  4. ....slip and slide....hacky sack....frisbee.... ....learn to pack reserves.... jg "dude, where's my main?"
  5. i've never been to a DZ where there wasn't someone sitting out due to an injury....such as broken backs, legs.........just a thought. jg
  6. i think about this often and despite the fact that i upset my RW buddies at times, i break off higher....higher is better....higher = more time....higher = altitude.... jg
  7. ....glad you're safe man....my bucket of luck runs drier after every jump too. was on a 4 way skydive....newbie goes low and does not track out of the way....big cloud deck below so the nut decides he can't fall through industrial haze so he pulls right under 3 of us....we track to the side and miss him by about 10 feet on either side of his canopy....different cause but it was one incredible reality check. one of those reasons that they teach us 1) to wave off before deploying and 2) to pull at your afore-mentioned altitude. we live and learn....it's a good thing we all lived. jg
  8. i'm a daredevil to begin with but as a kid, i used to sit up on my swingset and watch the local parachute club (round canopies at the time) fly down from above. sometimes they would land off and my family and i would give them a ride back to the DZ. so after watching all those years, i turned 18 and when up and did AFF. after college, bought my rigg and here i am....i wouldn't be me without skydiving. jg
  9. totally, i understand. i've had friends get out of the sport because of this. if you're going to become a serious up jumper, go get a custom rigg fitted. get measured up and get the custom fitted container of your choice custom made and you'll avoid the bumps and bruises. jg
  10. ooops. when you can't sew the finger traps, have your rigger or yourself tie knots in the lines so that the toggles can't come off of the break lines. this is a satisfactory "temporary" fix until you can sew the finger traps securely. jg
  11. congrats on your new rating!! take your time and be careful. studs will surprise you when they do stupid stuff up there so watch out for yourself. but you'll enjoy chasing them around the sky especially when they back loop or something after you've completed your docks and you chase them down to break off altitude because they accelerated so fast below you. it will make your abilites improve and you will learn to be "very aggressive". have fun, be safe!! jg
  12. do your own research....but the best advice you can get is from a very experienced skydiver or AFF instructor....ask them what equipment to use.... my only opinion, get a rigg that secures your bridal (freeflying) and secures your risers (RW flips, spins, et. al.).... jg
  13. A) glad you're down safe B) chop it when this happens C) don't double band your locking stowes ....my best advice...."if it's not square and doesn't flare, chop it." jg
  14. breathing is the key....take deep breaths and, well, once you're out the door, it doesn't matter anyway.... jg "dude, where's my main?"
  15. i guess some of the coolest funny jumps i've done are: 1) a 4-way exit base for a 20-way where one guy dives through the center of the 4-way STAR on the hill. 2) Mr. Bill jump attempts where you can't hang on and your partner is in like 25 line twists and kicking out of them while you fall away on your back 3) rodeo dive attempts where you have to go headdown to keep up with the pair because when they mount, they fall out of sight. 4) EVERY JUMP IS FUN! jg "dude, where's my main?"
  16. hehehe....this is normal. sometimes i go a month without a jump ($$) and i still have dreams that i'm belly in a 4-way or on some wicked sit/headdown night jump or something....for me, it's just a part of skydiving.
  17. and don't be shy about asking your local parachute rigger questions about packing....they are your best resource along with the maker's recommendations. jg
  18. i thought about it and there is a guy with 5,000 jumps who still jumps a 7 cell....swares by it....i can do 80% of the maneuvers mentioned and i'm keeping my current canopy....thanks all :) blue ones, jg
  19. yeah, we'll avert the confusion.... USPA Recommendations: Decision Alt: 1800' Cut-a-way: 1600' (i'm nearly certain) "my" harddeck: 2000' -- if it's not square and won't flare i chop it and arch and pull my reserve. jg
  20. if i drive safer....it's so i live to do another jump... jg
  21. except when you roof surf and get drunk on evenings after skydiving. jg
  22. prolly want to be careful where you jump with one when you make it and test it. i've been hearing rumors that skyball jumps may soon require a license (license to jump with a skyball).....sucks i know but so you are aware.... ....but then again, we're supposed to have a license to do demos and most D jumpers do and don't have one.... blue ones, jg
  23. because.... when you land, the women look more beautiful and the beer tastes better.... ....looping into a headdown at 180 mph is just awesome and your like, people on the ground in that car passing me 2 miles below have no idea what your doing....i love that.... ....and there's something about looking out of an airplane at 14,000' and hurling yourself into the void where only the craziest, most fun and daring people on the face of the planet would go.... ....it's the closest you'll ever get to God, especially after you're under a full open and controllable parachute. BLUE ONES!! "dude, where's my main?"
  24. i'll totally second Bill's comment....DONT' GET TOO RELIANT ON YOUR AUDIBLE....compare it with your visual and pull at your preplanned altitude!!!! sometimes, when i'm freeflying, I DON'T EVEN HEAR MINE as i am distracted and concentrating on my maneuvers. blue ones! "dude, where's my main?"
  25. how did the exit go? ****diving exits are the GREATEST**** then you move on to front flip exits and full back layouts to headdown. check your equipment.... BLUE ONES!!!! "dude, where's my main?"
