What do your parents think of your skydiving?
stilettodude replied to andy2's topic in General Skydiving Discussions
Dad and i made our first jump together in 95 ( with mom watching from the ground), so they are pretty cool about it........on the other hand they were not so cool about my BASE. My Grandfather told me i should take up something safer .....like"BULL RIDING" lol. "NOT" Philip Guy D-21881 "HOW LOW CAN YOU GO?" -
1.8 @ 350. In a lot of cases you will find that jump numbers don't have a darn thing to do with with experience levels ( don't flame me yet) to a certain extent. I have seen (close friends) with thousands of jumps laying in the hospital with a fractured vertebre....you might have an eagle eye on your final for several hundred jumps but it only takes one time in the corner to lose it. Had one on my first and second rigs but don't have one on current rig. I don't have anything against them but if you jump a HP canopy you could end up in a spin on your back which would not be a good position to have your reserve fired. Philip Guy D-21881 "HOW LOW CAN YOU GO?"

What are your Cutaway and reserve handles?????
stilettodude replied to samp76's topic in Gear and Rigging
Both pillows......it reduses that chance of reserve handle snagging on something. Philip Guy D-21881 "HOW LOW CAN YOU GO?" -
Have you ever been injured while skydiving?
stilettodude replied to Clownburner's topic in Safety and Training
On jump #99 i front risered an ESPRIT 120 into the ground and fractured my lower 3 lumbars also fractured my ankle and got a shiny new stainless steel plate, 8 screws and a pin, 2 mos. later i made my recovery jump and got my pie WOO HOO! Since then i have broken my big toe 3 or 4 times but that was my fault for trying to be and not not wearing shoes. Philip "HOW LOW CAN YOU GO?" -
Anyone else like night jumps?
stilettodude replied to steve1's topic in General Skydiving Discussions
I love them too steve! I have about 10 in my logs the last one was a 9-way "howl at the moon" jump. One of the more memorable ones was jumping into Biloxi beach a few miles from Keesler A.F.B. and it had something to do with the pilot telling us to be on the lookout for 2 C-130's landing at Kessler I wasted the whole jump looking for those dudes lol. To this day i don't know if he was kidding or not! Philip D-21881 "HOW LOW CAN YOU GO?" -
When did you go to an elliptical canopy?
stilettodude replied to superstu's topic in General Skydiving Discussions
I started jumping a Stiletto 120 @ 1.75 around 100 jumps (not reccomended)... i am still flying it. Philip D-21881 "HOW LOW CAN YOU GO?" -
How many jumps do you have?
stilettodude replied to JumpCrazy's topic in General Skydiving Discussions
I started in 94 and have 350 ( not a good ratio) but i stopped for several yrs. when my wife started having children and just started again in Dec. WOO-HOO! Philip "HOW LOW CAN YOU GO?" -
Hey Girl How are things in Indiana??? Everything is good here ( except the part where i'm at work ). Gotta go, be good. Philip PS when are you coming back to God's country to jump with us LOL????? "HOW LOW CAN YOU GO?"

Do you have to be 18 to make a skydive ( legally)? A friend at work wanted to know if his 16 yr. old daughter could make a jump, (preferable a tandem)......i couldn't give him answer. Thanks, Philip "HOW LOW CAN YOU GO?"

I heard that J.V. did 4 mo for his moment of fun in St. Louis????? Don't quote me on that one but i will ask him next time i see him. Philip "HOW LOW CAN YOU GO?"

I believe Rich hit the " Nail on the Head". With you having 2 jumps you should wait the 3 or 5 sec that you have been instructed, and if no canopy then do your "E" procedures. With time you will learn how your canopy opens and what to expect from it. I always look over my shoulder and watch the deployment but i'm not sure how others handle this. 3) static line 3) PRCP 1) hop-n-pop 1) 5 sec 1) 10 sec 1) 15 sec 1) 20 sec 1) 20 sec dive out ( previously hanging from strut) after that it was to the big plane! "HOW LOW CAN YOU GO?"

I Have over 250 jumps under a stiletto 120 and have never jumped a sweeter canopy. I also do not understand why people call them spinlettos..... i have never had to chop mine ( maybe these dudes need to attend a packing course)?? In my opinion.....Stiletto is the best, so forget the rest!
