  1. Did I accidently do this? My Font size on DZ.com is like 10 times bigger! I don't know if I like this! I went to display settings but could not find a way to change it back!! HELP!!
  2. He may have done it, or he could just be a target. I think it's a little of both. I don't think he will get convicted. I think he is guilty.... but in this country, that doesn't seem to matter much if you are rich and famous.
  3. Quote taken from the artical..... Was this guy jumping a round parachute? If he were jumping a Ram-Air, I would disagree with this statement.
  4. In this country, the skydiving waiver has never prevented skydivers or their families from sueing. Sure, the case will probably be dismissed but the costs and the hassle are enough to keep most people from ever opening their own dropzone.
  5. menu 4 (settings) Tone settings Ringing options (select "ring") Ringing Tone (select "ring ring")
  6. I have 150 jumps on Original Sabres. 134 of those are on my current Sabre 150. Yes, the openings were brisk at first but not painfully so. Rolling the nose only prolonged the snivel which took the edge off the opening however I still got that "POP" at the end of the snivel. A guy in Taft showed me a trick with the slider. Instead of quartering the slider, pull it out towards the nose so that it hangs out over the nose. If you go to the PD website it tells you to do just the same!! Download the .PDF on "How to prevent hard openings" On the first page, it talks about pulling out the slider. http://performancedesigns.com/education.asp I pull the slider out almost all the way now and I never get that "POP" at the end. I've done this for the last 50 or so jumps and it works great. Whenever I tell someone this trick, it makes them nervous so that is why I posted the PD link. The nose is where you are trying to restrict the airflow to slow the opening. Having the slider towards the center and tail doesn't do anything.
  7. Can sombody post this on "skydivingmovies.com"? thanks, scott
  8. (This was an Excerpt from article) This is the deal with bungee jumping(and yes I have tried it) It is idiot proof! All you do is jump and let the bungee cord do the rest. Bunce up and down a few times and get towed back up. There isn't that much that a customer could do to screw this up. As you know, skydiving requires a 6 hour class just to be able to jump with two people hanging on!!! Lets see.. the customer has to follow hand signals without going unstable maintain altitude awareness Pull Fix Canapy problems (line twists ect.) Cut away/Pull reserve if needed Follow a landing pattern Listen to radio instruction Flare! That is a lot for a whuffo to remember while falling to the earth +120mph! Wait a minute!! I forgot!! we have a way for people to avoid all of these steps! TANDEMS!
  9. As a newbie skydiver, I depend of these incident threads to futher my knowledge. You can only learn so much from your local dropzone. DZ.com gives people the ability to share incidents to work on prevention. There is also a webpage http://www.skydivenet.com/fatalities/ that has all the fatalites for the past decade. In each report, there is a lesson that explains the best way to avoid such a situation. I have read every single report on that website. I am suprised that Scuba Divers are less likely to do the same.
  10. I think "dubbayab" is acting like a troll because there is nothing in his profile... no real name, no home dropzone and no equipment. Either post this in "The Bonfire" or quit wasting our time!! I think it is about time this thread got locked. edited to add: I just spend the last half hour reading all these posts for nothing! You never answered anyones questions or offered any relevant information about the incident. Thanks for nothing!
  11. No, can't say I've ever felt that way about someone. I'm happy for you, just don't go on a shooting spree when she breaks your heart.
  12. I used to dig prince way back in the day, during his 80's and early 90's phases. I'm interested to know what people think of his latest work Musicology. It has been hailed by critics as a masterpiece. Personally, I think the drum sounds are cool but all in all, it sounds like your run of the mill old school R&B knock off. There is no hook, and the chorus is bland. I don't listen to much R&B, I feel Princes best work was more Rock/Pop based. Prince's R&B phase has always (in my opinion) sucked.
  13. I agree, I tip based on service. Anyone who lives in LA knows that Sushi Bars are a dime a dozen. The service at most sushi bars usually ranges from terrible to mediocre. Most places I visit have only one girl doing everything, hosting, serving drinks, taking money. If I'm sitting at a table with a date, it's a totally different situation but if I'm by myself, sitting at the bar, I just don't feel a full tip is necessary, especially since Sushi ain't cheap. I'll leave a couple bucks but thats it. scott
  14. I remember seeing the link to his webpage when I visited the Skydive Snohomish website. Sad to hear the bad news. scott
  15. wow, you wear your chin pads high!! how do you see your handles?
  16. Was the rancher arrested? were criminal charges filed?
  17. I was at a Sushi bar tonight. Question? What % should I tip if I'm sitting at the bar (not at a regular table)? The waitress brings me my drink and the bill, but the sushi cheif takes the order and serves me my food from behind the bar. I'm guessing that you should tip half in this situation because you are only getting drink service. What do you think??? Scott
  18. I know you are trying to help but I wish you had only posted this in the womens forum. I feel that this is more of a "talk back" style forum. While I can appreciate your tips...they have a certain anti male undertone that would do better in the "womens forum". thank you.
  19. Not everybody is suppose to find this perceived "true love". Falling in love, getting married, having kids and living happily ever after. That may be OK for some but think about where the world would be if everyone took this path? There would be no progress, nothing achieved. I doubt you would have had the balls to learn how to skydive if you were busy trying to fall in love. Think about how fulfilling your life became when you made these less conventional choices.
  20. I always thought the skydiving waivers were insane. Most of them now say that if I sue them, I have to pay them $50,000 dollars for a lawyer so they can defend themselves. I wonder if that has ever worked!
  21. I am constantly amazed at some DZ owners and their attitudes that I read about on DZ.com I don't think he should have taken advantage of you like that. It's just not cool. For the cost of a single jump ticket, he risks losing a customer, and looking cheasy in front of the other jumpers. Sure he has a right, but the important question is.... have you gone back since this happened? scott
  22. I always feel like I'm doing a backflip whenever I do a hanging exit from a C-182. If I'm already facing the tail of the aircraft while inside, I just step out an do a a dive out exit.
  23. how did the main get entangled with the reserve? Did the guy try to cut away?
  24. I don't! Couldn't afford it anyway. I think you mean KingCloud.
