  1. LMAO! Well, I'm glad I have you... to kick me down some knowledge bro! At this point, this thread is losing focus of the topic. You are simply trying to hurt my feelings, instead of acting like a rational adult. Simply stating facts is not putting my foot in my mouth. That is just your opinion. I've had more conversations with Jump Masters and Riggers a like about this debate, and you think I'm making up facts, why then, do so many people use BOC since Pull Outs were around before BOC? I could understand people wanting Pull Outs instead of ROL but thats a totally different debate. Once again, leave the personal attacks out. I'm not going to post on this thread anymore because a lot of you don't have the right attitude to discuss the facts like adults. Get a life. I'm outta here!
  2. Please don't make skygod statments like that!#$% I know you are 2K jump wonder. Lose the attitude. And yes I do know what I am talking about. And so do about 90% percent of the skydivers who use the BOC deployment method. Thank you.
  3. I like B.O.C. on principal. It is a properly staged deployment. Pilot chute catches air, pulls pin, pulls d-bag. The Pull out system pops the pin and opens the container then pulls the pilot chute out. You can't really pitch the pilot chute that far away from your body like with BOC. Why do you think they recommend BOC for wingsuit flyers?
  4. Yes, Skydiving is amazing. I can't think of any activity on this planet that compares to this sport. (except golf) Just kidding! There is simply nothing like it. I don't think I chose to be a skydiver. Skydiving chose me. I don't know why, it is just somthing that makes my life so much brighter. I think to myself, how the hell did I get into this sport? I have come such a long way it seems totally normal now, yet I can't really remember what got me into this sport in the first place?.
  5. OMG! Is this the plane I heard about? Did everyone on the plane die? scott
  6. I thought so! I don't think skydive perris owns all those King Airs and Cesna-182's they have parked out there!
  7. I would be very interested in seeing this clip. Could someone post it to skydivingmovies.com?
  8. Well, think about physics.... With a kill line, the pilot chute is already open when you pitch out. It catches air immediatly. With bungie, it may take a few extra nano seconds for the air to streatch the bungee and allow air to inflate the pilot chute. I had my bungee converted to a kill line when I first bought my rig based on this principal. In theory, Kill line is better. edited to add: why are you so afraid you'll forget to cock it? you know about the green indicator window on the bridle near you closing pin right?
  9. I guess the situations with those two is different because they are growing up on the dropzone. It is a lifestyle not just a weekend sport. I remember having a discussion with Mike Mullins a while back. He told me about an incident where his son almost got killed on a camping expedition. Aparently they were messing around on an old bridge and it colapsed. One kid died, and Mike Mullins kid fell into the river beneath the bridge. At that point Mike said that there is danger in any activity. Why not let him skydive. I can understand this logic but still, why put your kid in more danger?
  10. I think a 13 year old skydiver still poses a liability issue. Look what happened to this kid in South America! Sure this accident can happen to anybody regardless of age. Sure, you can teach a kid to do almost anything that adults do but at such a young age, you don't have the life experience to deal with such an extreame sport. Why does a 13 year old need to skydive? It's too dangerous. The fact is, if I fuck up, I'm ready to die. I don't think it is fair to put a 13 year old in the same spot. Skydiving is a lot more dangerous than motorcycles and skateboards.
  11. I think it's amazing that a 13 year old would even want to skydive. I think it's cool in way but I really don't think you have a firm grasp on the concept of mortality. When I did my first jump, I was ready to die, I gave it about a 50% chance that I would perish. You have to go through a lot of shit in you life to take that kind of a risk and just go with it. I think 18 is a good age limit because you have lived long enough to make that kind of decision.
  12. How so? I've sold things COD. The key is that I always mark "Certified Check ONLY" on the payment option. That way the check can't bounce.
  13. Yah, I visited a couple of times and got the impression they didn't really care for experience jumpers. I've noticed that bad mouthing a dropzone seems to be frowned upon in these forums. I'm going to give Skydive SanDiego another shot this weekend, while I'm checking out Skydive Southern California. They are within 10 miles of each other.
  14. ahh, someone who understands me
  15. Oh man, that is a nightmare!!! I'm really sorry that happened to you! How much did you end up paying for that rig? Always have the seller send the rig to your rigger for inspection and use a third party to hold the cash. Or you can C.O.D., that way the recipient only pays when he/she recieves the package. Did you get a phone number? maybe you can file a report and have the bank account that you deposited money into traced?
  16. Well, I've been to good dropzones and bad ones. The good ones are the ones that 1) don't make you wait an hour to get on a load (not a tandem factory) 2) have turbine planes (King Air, Otter, Skyvan) 3) let you camp out 4) Good Customer Service (No bitchy ladies behind the manifest counter) That pretty much sums it up. A couple of nice skychicks are always a welcome addition.
  17. I didn't say it's bad to hitch a ride on a jump plane. I said I'd probably would be a little turned off at the idea of paying $200 bucks. Now that you've told me about all problems you had on the DC-3 I would definatly say $200 is a lot. Now on properly working DC-9 I might consider it.
  18. And I won't bother to explain the difference between a customers perspective and the impression of someone like yourself who works at the DZ. This is so funny, You have won the argument as I have stated in my previous post but you still won't take an apology, man!
  19. Did I say that? nope, I only speak for myself. I would like to make that clear. Think about it, why would bragging about our new DC-9 bring up soo much resentment and controversy. Nothing I've said in this thread is that bad! Except the "crushing the competition part" I was just kidding! What a strange sport I've fallen into! So defensive. Once again, it's all in good fun! Don't take anything I say seriously, it's pure satire! OK!
  20. Two words my friend.... LIGHTEN UP! This is a discussion form that thrives on different opinions and debate. You get nervous!! Like I'm representing all the jumpers at Perris! Would you like me to remove Perris from my Profile so I don't offend anyone that jumps at Perris and happens to have a different opinion? Please, I would love to meet you some time, you sound like you could use a beer! I'm buying! In the meantime....quit being so self righteous. scott
  21. So you were forced to pay the difference in cost for those who flaked out and didn't show up? Wow, that sounds like a safe ride. Sure the DC-3 might be cool to do that in but we are talking about a DC-9. The DC-9 isn't really a piece of "avaition history".
  22. Actually a lot of people feel that way. The owners obviously thought that way. When they built the wind tunnel, do you think they were worried about how that would affect surrounding dropzones? If they had that jet turning loads often enough and cheap enough, it would crush the competition. Why make an argument over this? For example, a lot fewer people are going to Orlando Skyventure, now that Perris has one on the West Coast. It's been a awhile bro, but I'm back. Did you miss me? I've been at Taft,CA all winter jumping the Mike Mullins King Air. To make a long story short, I wasn't happy with the customer service I was getting. edited to add: this had nothing to do with Mike Mullins. I don't want people to think that I'm talking about him. Let's put it this way, the break from Perris was nice but I'm glad to be back at my home dropzone. Buy me a beer next time you see me OK?
  23. Man, that is a rip off! If I hitch a ride on one of these planes, I don't want to pay more than $100 bucks roundtrip. Why, because we would basically be treated like a piece of cargo, no seats, no bathrooms, no flight attendants to fluff my pillow and no food! Not to mention, they would probably forget to pressurize the cabin, expect some hypoxia. We won't need to drink very much booze to get wasted! It's ghetto style! I think the military transports at least give their boys seats to sit it! We would have nothing, I'm assuming that they are tearing out most if not all the seats in the DC-9. It is so easy for them to just let us tag a long for the trip, they have to fly there anyway, why not charge a smaller fee, just to help get people there? I'm with you Phreezone, if they end up charging more than that, I'll just find my own ride.
  24. OK, do you know if that is how much Perris is going to charge per jump ticket? Quit trying to tear down our new toy!! Think how easy this is going to make everything! If I want to go to the world freefall convention, I can just hitch a ride on the plane which I'm sure would charge a lot less than a real plane ticket. That is what really excites me. I realize I won't be jumping this plane that often, it just makes things a lot easier to know I can just hitch a ride to all these events.
