  1. Don't tempt me!!!! OK, I'll vent....please don't jump all over me for telling this story! Let's just say, all dropzones have their positives and negatives. When the negatives get to me, I leave. I have so many choices in Southern California. Right now, I'm jumping at Lake Elsinore. The most important thing to me is Customer Service. Larger dropzones tend to hide the politics better. I know I'm gonna take shit for this but recently I was jumping in Taft. As many of you know, I shamelessly promoted the aircraft there(hint). I was very happy there but the last time I was there, I got yelled at because I told a tandem student to bring somthing warm to wear (on his tandem jump) because we were all jumping into an alternative landing area due to clouds and I thought we were going to do another jump there. I don't know why or how this got misinterpereted, but next thing I know, out of nowhere, the manifest girl is yelling at me saying "instead of getting involved, why don't you let us do our jobs!" then the DZ owner walks up and she starts saying "Ohh Scott's just getting involved" then the DZ owner yells at me and says "We can handle it Scott!" They sounded so angry! I didn't understand why I was getting flamed for saying this. A few minutes later I walked up to the manifest girl and said, "look, the only reason I said that was because the students asked me if they should bring somthing warm and I said yes! so why am I getting yelled at?" To make a long story short, she apologized. I was really hurt by all this and it left a really bad taste in my mouth. I considered these people friends because we all hung out together, I don't know why they would just turn around and treat me like this. I went out of my way to treat everyone there with respect. I haven't gone back since. It's been 2 months. Oh well, I still love Perris and Elsinore!
  2. I've got a Swift Plus(7-cell) it came with my rig used. I asked a lot of riggers and people with 10,000+ jumps and they say it's fine. I personally wouldn't jump anything less than a 7 cell reserve because of the wingloading issue. If it had an original swift(5-cell) I wouldn't have bought the rig.
  3. Why don't we all just tip everybody! Manifest $5 per load Load Organizer $5 per load Pilot $5 per load (weather we jump or not) packer $5 per jump DZO $5 per jump Jumpticket $20 + $25 (in tips per jump) $45 buck per jump.....ohh wait!, let's not forget about the 3% credit card fee thats becoming so trendy, as we all know, VISA and Amex are hurting right now..... 46.35 per jump! I think this is very reasonable when you consider how hard working and under appreciated everyone at the DropZone is.
  4. I love it when a dropzone's webpage is this honest! I'm sure potential students are very reashured by the sub headline....."Warning, Skydiving is extreamly dangereous" http://hawaiiskydiving.com/
  5. have you tried stearing the openings with your rear risers?
  6. From you body position in that photo, that looks like you held your head down for maybe a second or two at best. No offense but that photo is terrible. I'm working on my head down and I have had some video coaching. Tip 1) Spread you legs, wide! They will anchor you in a head down position. Tip 2) Bring you hands foward, so you can see them in your periphrial vision. Tip 3) Look at the horizion, not the ground. Use your hands, (which you should now be able to see) to practice heading control doing 360's in both directions. Tip 4) Transition from head down to Sit Fly if you legs get tired.
  7. Dude, you need to find a new web server for your skydivingmovies.com ASA fuckin'P! Don't you want to be famous like that other dude, whats his name? the owner of DZ.com? My point is this! You have a really cool website and you want the glory, the chicks and power! Get a new server with good bandwidth that doesn't limit downloads ect. Take a loan if you have to! You spent a lot of time revamping the website, it deserves to be shown off. How much does it really cost a month to have a webpage like that?
  8. So Skydive San Diego does have a new owner! I'll have to give them another shot some time.
  9. The USPA can't make laws. Only suggestions to dropzones that are USPA group members.
  10. uhh why isn't she bottomless? The TM should be naked also. This would make the belly to earth position a little more interesting.
  11. I just love the baby sitting on top of the bonsai kitten w/ feeding tube! http://www.bonsaikitten.com/g4.html I wonder why they are using an adult cat for this instead of a kitten? That cat looks cramped!
  12. Haa Ha!! Very funny! I thought it was real for a second there!! Poor kitty! I would fucking kill somebody if I ever caught them doing that!
  13. I am sorry to hear about the server screwing you over. I'm glad I got a chance to experience the new skydivingmovies.com even though it was only 2 days! Do you have any plans to move the site to a different server yet? You can't let this site die!
  14. ahh! I seem to have found a solution to my own problem! When you click to download, you have the option of opening directly or saving the file to your harddisk. You must save the file to you hard disk, then open the file. Either way it takes the same amount of time to download. The downside is that it saves it to you harddisk, it doesn't want do "realtime" streaming!
  15. I'm getting 350K on average. I'm having a problem with the .mpg files. My realplayer V. 10 doesn't play the files once I download them, it doesn't seem to recognize the format!!! HELP! scott
  16. ahh thats the trick, it's a new address. www.skydivingmovies.com doesn't work without it!
  17. yah, I've got the havok helmet too. Just push the edge back up over your left eye. It's nice to see someone else with a Havok. They actually are very cool in the summer, just keep the helmet off until just before jump run. People say I look like Darth Vador, so whats wrong with looking like Darth Vader?
  18. feet and knees together! Every landing flare is different depending on wind and air density. Practice!
  19. I use the knee method to get some tail to the front. After I have some slack, I make sure my stearing lines are still in back where they need to be, I make the sure the stabalizers look neat. Then roll the tail.
  20. I don't think it's that big of a deal, they aren't life threatening. Besides, you've got bigger problems to deal with when the door opens.
  21. have you considered P2P networks? like Bearshare, Kazaa, WinMX?
  22. one little problem dude.... I don't know anything about aircraft maintenance. If I ask the DZO or the pilot if the aircraft is safe for skydiving, then crashes, who is to blame. DZO's and pilots need to take responsibility and accountability for the aircraft. Everything else, I agree with you 100%.
