  1. My gf buys treats for the dog, and she has her own stocking. Whatever makes her happy I guess.
  2. Shah, please quit speaking. It is painful to read.
  3. They found the flight recorders. Very very sad. http://www.popularmechanics.com/technology/aviation/crashes/what-really-happened-aboard-air-france-447-6611877?src=soc_fcbk
  4. Outbreaks like this in a public forum never help anyone, and certainly does not show professionalism if seeking a job within the industry. May I suggest next time that you do not immediately respond, but instead take your time to articulate a response, or if you decide not to respond at all - might be the best option at times. Quoted simply for my own amusement at the irony of the source of the advice on the original subject while simultaneously demonstrating his point.
  5. Sounds like you have your own anger problems to address.
  6. Unless it is the locking stows, I still don't see a problem.
  7. Twardo would be one of the guys that's been there, done that. I've done it a time or two, but I was hooked up to the plane. Getting out at or below 2K is a different animal than going through there at terminal. No kidding. Done both. Not likely to do either ever again with my current canopy choices. Sure was an eye opener though.
  8. how low ? I'm guessing above 3k... WINNER! Yup...'Low' is a relative term. Low gets re-defined if you ever exit under 2k.
  9. I agree. I never said I LIKED this solution.
  10. No cassette deck. No AUX port. Has a 6 disc changer though. Really the FM transmitter is the only option we're entertaining at the moment. Just trying to find the one that sucks least.
  11. I need to get one of these for my Gf's mother as part of a xmas package. Problem is, every review I can find for any product basically says that all the FM transmitters suck. Unfortunately, it is an older model car without an AUX port, and we're not going to retrofit the radio with an actual iPod adapter, so stuck with the FM transmitter option, I am. Anyone using one that they like, that actually works well, or sucks the least?
  12. I'm about due for a repack anyways.......what could go wrong?
  13. We have one on our truck that mates with our twotter. Didn't realize this wasn't standard practice.
  14. I'm not sure how to answer. In my experience, pulling on the rear risers (or pumping the toggles) will tend to speed up the openings, not make them longer. Just a thought, but if he is pulling them down a good 12" and holding it there, is that far enough to completely "stall" the rear of the canopy and prevent it from inflating - thereby increasing snivel time?
  15. The line about the approval process cracks me up.....what's the concern? The new drug might kill them?
  16. I am just sick of trying to watch a football game and hearing all this God/religion bullshit in the conversation.
  17. That play is not what caused Dallas to lose. The lack of a secondary, and the lack of a clutch quarterback and the amazing ability to hold onto a lead like a greased pig caused them to lose the game.
  18. Sounds like nothing has changed in the last 7-8 years since I ordered my suit. I hadn't heard anything for 8 weeks, called up to find out wtf was up with my suit, and then they made it over the next three days and sent it out to me. Suit was well made and has lasted close to 1000 jumps. Looking into the market for a new suit coming up... however, if customer service is still like this....
  19. Your helmet will likely do nothing against the propeller.
  20. respect, dude. I suppose like with anything when you do it often enough you can be safe and get the job done. if it were me I'd take the long walk around the wing for the first few thousand times before I changed it up, lol It takes some getting used to, that's for sure, and like Normiss said, it is a GREAT thing to be scared of the fucking prop, cause it will turn you into a fine red mist before you even know you are dead. There is a specific procedure for hot fueling the front tank. You must follow it every time. Never deviate, and never get distracted.
  21. Not just that, and something unlikely in this scenario but a valid point nonetheless: At those sizes you are talking about it is not likely that you are buying a small rig for vanity but always consider how tight the reserve is going to fit in your pack tray - I have a PDR126 in mine. I have been told I can get an Optimum 143 in there for a larger reserve, but basically so tight my rigger will hate me. The last thing I want, deep in the basement after I have fucked up, or air gremlins have attacked my canopy, is a reserve that is packed super fucking "might just need an extra second I don't have to come out" tight into the tray.
  22. I once saw a fuelie walk between the fuselage and the prop of a twin otter... while it was running. fuck. that. I have hot fueled our otter more times than I can count, and while being "comfortable" doing it, I am highly vigilant and terrified of that prop. From the moment I come around the wheel, my right shoulder is against the fuselage and NEVER leaves. I have held my arm out though while the engine is off, and as long as my shoulder is on the body, I can't get hit, so there IS plenty of room there. I am not saying that it is a good idea, but you can do it.
