  1. Holy crap, they really were kittens!!
  2. Be honest now, when do dem lights fall down into your hands to be boxed and repeated later.
  3. I don't succumb to any peer pressure, or bullshit remembrances...lets see what I do: 1. EVERY kitchen cabinet has child proof locks. 2. Some cabinets have locks elsewhere in the house. 3. Gas stove has locks on the ignitors. 4. Stove has lock on the door. 5. Toilet has locks on it. 6. Crib has no paint on it. 7. 8 Airbags in one van, 2 in the car 8. Carseats, 5 pt belts 9. No coffeetable in the living room 10. Button guards on all electronics within reach. 11. Guards in all sockets 12. Gates at the bottom and top of all stairways 13. New big-boy-bed so, guard on one side, mattress on floor on the other. 14. No Yelling in front of any kids. 15. Any smokers are not allowed to handle or be close to any of my kids unless they wash their hands and mint up first. If they want to hold them, they better bring a change of clothes. 16. No demeaning anyone unless it's me ;) I consider ANYONE that says I go too far a SHITTY parent. PERIOD. (this is not to say everyone has to do what i do, to each his own, i don't care as much about other peoples kids)
  4. Sometimes when an incident happens, the DZO (assuming a powerfully minded individual), will influence a videographer (weaker minded individual) to hand over the raw footage so there isn't a leak. Sometimes the videographer will do it out of professional courtesy. I'm sure job availibility has been questioned over matters that involve certain individuals.
  5. If your interested, in the 2003 SIM, pg 21 USPA STATEMENT OF MEDICAL FITNESS "I represent and warrant that I have no known physical or mental infirmities that would impair my ability to participate in skydiving, or if I do have any such infirmities, that they have been successfully treated so that they do not represent any foreseeable risk while skydiving, or that they are being successfully treated so that they do not represent any foreseeable risk while skydiving. "I also represent and warrant that I am not taking any medications or substances, prescription, or otherwise, that would impair my ability to participate in skydiving."
  6. DON'T tell them you use it for skydiving, and DON'T leave a tape in it. Make sure the camera isn't in some kind of unusual postion on your head. Maybe the zoom switch is leaning on something.
  7. I'd just like to say that, I don't jump a Gath. They make a person look 'monkish'.
  8. You'll find the new D-Box with the 101 a great match, and you shouldn't have the same problem even if you get riser slap. Best way to prevent the slap is to tilt your head slightly down before pulling.
  9. Yes, main closing loop, RWS was putting those particular ones in 'boogie bags' a few years back. They may still be doing so, but i believe it was part of the V3 promotional campaign. Another 'different' type of closing loop to look for is from Jump Shack. They make a real fatty lookin one that does not require a washer. I personally use this type of closing loop. Many riggers have questioned it, but after well over 800 jumps on this particular closing loop alone, it still shows no wear. I hope when it finally breaks, they will make me a new one!
  10. PS2 is easier to fit in your glovebox if your ever going to contend in a car show. The XBox is gi-hugest!!!
  11. It's comming up gents and gals...the best damn day to hit the sloaps...for all you ski over ball fans. Super Bowl Sunday You'll literally ski right into the lifts. Skydivers would be more prone to this excellent information because they miss most Sundays anyways.
  12. Playstation gotsa XBox beat in the way of online gaming because Playstation just uses your existing internet provider...XBox makes you pay a monthly fee...crappy little microsoft squeezing dem dimes.
  13. Maybe we should be an "ugliest fattest bastard that sat next to you on the plane girl/guy" thread going then. Now that would be fun.
  14. Curious, what do you do with all that old footage? VHS, Beta, Betamax, DV, MiniDV, MicroDV, 8mm, Hi8mm, VHS-C...etc... Personally: I save everything, then after 24 hours of footage, I compress it, too freefall, and interesting stuff. That usually gives tandem students time to break in their videos, and if they destroy them too late, at least I kept their freefall. Example: I was compressing the other day, and have a sweet quote from Jim Slaton after landing an Alpha 84 (first time). "This is TOO fast for me, I will never get smaller than this, what the fuck was I thinking!" (Needless to say, he was pumped). Case in point: Archiving can have interesting benifits, for those that don't!
  15. Personally: 1. Lens versitility, i can switch up lenses for different types of jumps. 2. 35mm SLR's are cheap! (depending) so if i smash it up, no big whoop, they get cheaper every day small digital cameras get more popular, everyones makin the switch. 3. Rugged as hell. Unfortunately for #2, i can beat the eva-livin-shit out of my Elan, jump it in freezing cold, rain, desert, mountains, snow, mud. I can bang it, bash it, touch it in that special way. 4. Don't need a screen to see my options. I can fully operate the camera on the top of my head without looking at the buttons. 5. Speed baby. Gotta snap dem pics fast sometimes. 6. Now there was mention of hooking an electronic actuator up to the cameras 'shutter release'. Sounds like a pain in the ass operation. But poineers must do what they must till some manufacturer starts setting the stage (i.e. Conceptus with a single unit that hooks directly to canons remote release, no sauter) 7. Film is cheeper for commercial skydivers. We buy a $1 roll of film for our SLR and hand it to the customer for them to develop later. As opposed to what? Downloading to a disk(s) $$ (bro, 1 3.5" won't cut it), printing all the photos out $$$$. Some customers develop at Wal-mart, some at a professional studio, let them decide what to do, in the end they are happier with the choice, and you save mula (i forsee this changing in the not-so-far future) As for Digital SLRs: Now don't get me wrong, I think that digital SLR's are the wave of the future, just not ecomonical for 'right now'...but soon they will be the standard. As for the little hand held Elph likes:...my little $550 4 Megapixal baby isn't going into that harsh skydiving enviroment, it stays at home with the kids and the holidays, we leave the rough stuff for the big boys
  16. You know it really depends on the person, and how they take care of the equipment. I have a '96 Jav J-1, and it's in fantastic condition, and I jump in desert conditions. If it isn't in use it's in a gearbag, almost all my jumps made it indoors for repacking. I keep it out of the sun, and I don't drag the container to the bag when packing. I've seen people with rigs that are a hair over a year old and need to be put to sleep, because, quite frankly, they don't respect the very equipment they expect to save their lives. Go figure
  17. 1. Minivans 2. Cars 3. I flew an airplane once 4. 10K Forklift 5. 25K Forklift 6. C-5 Tow Machine (I drive C-5's around when the mood strikes) 7. C-17/C-141 Tow Machine (etc...see6) 8. Tugs 9. 18. Eagles baby, Eagles!!!! Got my hometown pride workin there!
  19. DUDE, I've been hanging X-mas lights all over my house, second story baby!!! That roof is steeper than it looks.
  20. 1800' , C-182 , only person to jump in the state that day. The only reason I jumped was because they were sending the plane to another airport for an annual, I jumped on the go around. 2 Words to describe it (looking back) "Fuckin""Stupid"
  21. Now who has chopped a perfectly good main, went into extended freefall and pulled the reserve? This EXCLUDES parachute systems equipped with more than TWO total parachutes at aircraft exit time. If you wish to remain anonymous thats ok, for the bold... What were the details? (time, place, equipment...etc...) Did you regret doing it in front of young, idolizing, jumpers? Did the S&TA or DZO bust you or kick you off the DZ permanately/temporarily? Did you loose any equipment after the stunt? Did your rigger refuse to put the equipment back together for fear of another intentional deployment? Was peer pressure (to be known as the boldest)? Did 'Swoop' in the movie "Dropzone" inspire you to do this stunt?
  22. Well congrats Alana, I am super geek, so i really shouldn't post here. Just so happens in high school, I """blossomed""", didn't even realized it happed until i moved to Vegas and some LA person KO'd me and gave me a haircut...who knew!!!
