  2. Every DZ on the Planet fights, or struggles to accommodate, their legitimate neighboring land owners, over trespass issues. Like the Isrealis we arrive with the power of federal (international) law and case law in hand and demand our rights over other peoples property. No wonder there are objections.

  4. Actually he did ask me about it some time ago. But I don't independently research the case, most of what I know about it I got from you guys here and on Shutter's forum, so what could I say about it that you guys don't already know better than me? Meanwhile, Darren just made another 'with my good friend' post with no other comment. So either he doesn't read this thread or he didn't find the humor in my post. Oh well, sorry. hehe
  5. Pretty sure some, if not most, posters here mumble to themselves while keyboarding.
  6. All of the Arab states bordering Israel immediately attacked Israel when the state was founded. Subsequently Israel made peace with them. Subsequently in 1967 and 1973 Israel was attacked again Again Israel made peace with them subsequently giving the occupied Egyptian land back. Originally the Palestinians had many Arab states supporting them. Today they have little or no support. None of the wars were initiated by the stateless Palestinians themselves The main reason is that Iran is using its proxy government Hamas to further its stated objective of destroying Israel. To kill every Jew. The other Arab states recognize the danger of Iranian proxy armies. They have now turned down Palestinian support because of Hamas and Hezbollah. More recently Houthi rebels have fought a war with Saudi Arabia. Turning the Saudis towards recognizing Israel. All to counter Iran. So Gaza has Hamas which most countries consider a terrorist organization with no authority. Few Gaza Palestinians support Hamas. But because of oppression most polls have shown support for the Hamas attack. On the west bank the PA is seen as completely corrupt. Their support undercut by the actions of the Israel government. Mostly from the Netanyahu right wing parties. The Palestinian people in general have nothing wrong. They have been pawns of corrupt leaders, foreign governments, Israel and religion. I agree the solution isn't easy. The absence of political leadership will allow this to continue. Even if Gaza is rebuilt, until they make peace with Israel their plight will go on. They absolutely will continue to be a stateless people until they turn their backs on Iranian influence. In addition the control of the religious right parties on the Israeli government needs to end. Perhaps a hard line from the US is necessary. i.e. Force an end to illegal west bank Israeli settlements. Get the corruption out of the PA and ban Iranian influenced parties and players. By withholding aid until Israel realized this is an endless unwinnable war. All of the major Israeli newspapers have recently carried a story almost identical to this one: "Netanyahu prefers weakened Hamas in Gaza to secure power and avoid recognition of alternatives by the international community" If a international peace force that builds a Palestinian state post war "This will also lead directly to the dissolution of the Ben-Gvir-Smotrich-Netanyahu government. This shows the rationale that led Smotrich to declare in 2015 that "Hamas is an asset" and that Netanyahu said at the Likud party meeting in 2019 that we should support the strengthening of Hamas. These ideologies have not changed at all since October 2023"
  7. I've noticed areas of slinks and the top of risers looking "polished". At first I figured it was due to physical wear from long term contact with vibration from the slider flapping, but later realized it is from the grommets being hot due to line friction, and partial melting of the material. Now protection is provided with large link covers/slider stops similar to what you might see on a tandem rig. I use wide risers, do those using narrow risers not experience this so much because their slider comes farther down the riser before stopping, perhaps spreading out the transfer of the heat? Do my Dacron lines perhaps generate more heat than the newfangled types? It seems the Dacron lines themselves do not suffer.
  8. I had not, Jerry. Thanks for sharing it. On the watch list now. You were the one to peak my interest on it.

  10. Hi Keith, In another thread some time ago, I posted that we need to get the world's population down to about 30% of current numbers. I only hope that would be sufficient. Have you seen this: Life on Our Planet - Wikipedia I thought it was great. Jerry Baumchen PS) Thanks for starting this - all of us need to talk about it.
  11. Hi Robert, My hope is that it might not come to that. However, that might be better than a Darwinian method. Jerry Baumchen
  12. New episode out now! DB Cooper was not my father with my good friend Julie. https://thecoopervortex.podbean.com/e/db-cooper-was-not-my-father-julie/
  13. Uh - I am sure you have noticed all the anti-Israeli-aggression demonstrations around the country, right? I mean, there are so many of them that conservatives are falling all over themselves trying to find new insults to describe them.
  14. Thoughts: 1) It will come too late to avert the worst consequences of climate change if that's the only mitigation. 2) The strongest predictor of number of births per woman is educational level. (Also the strongest predictor of child outcomes.) So if we concentrate on female education worldwide, we can drive this to happen sooner.
  15. Based on another thread - Again, we need to reduce the number of us humans on this Earth of ours. My interest was peaked a couple of years ago by this. According to Dean Spears PhD, "It will begin an unprecedented decline ... If the world’s fertility rate [after 2100] were the same as in the United States today, then the global population would fall from a peak of around 10 billion to [less than] 2 billion about 300 years later, over perhaps 10 generations. And if family sizes remained small, we would continue declining.” Dr. Spears is an economic demographer. The author of the article posed - Will this decline come a century too late to avert the consequences of global warming? Thoughts? https://www.bloomberg.com/opinion/articles/2024-03-10/global-population-collapse-isn-t-sci-fi-anymore-niall-ferguson

  17. He was also a teetotaler, while FDR had his requisite couple of stiff martinis a day, Churchill lived on brandy, and Stalin didn't mind vodka. Having said that, throwing in references to der Further or the NSDAP put one equally afoul of Godwin's law.
  18. Its a republican conspiracy. Conspiracy theories that are anti-science is helping. Putin is doing his best as are the proxies of Iranian mullahs.
  19. OK, this site is doing some strange stuff. Once again I am unable to Reply to your post, Bill. => So here I am trying my best using Keith's post. As for nuclear accidents: I want us to do the best we can to prevent them. However, I accept them as a cost of doing business. To me, it is like aviation; we no longer have fatalities on commercial airliners every year. When, we do; I accept that as a cost of doing business. And, back when I was a working stiff, I flew just about every week on a commercial airliner. My one & only concern is the waste. I for one, do not want to have my grandchildren [ and their heirs ad infinitum ] dealing with it. The waste is deadly and is, for most discussions, forever. Jerry Baumchen PS) Again, we need to reduce the number of us humans on this Earth of ours. PPS) Some info: Nuclear waste at center of testy Nevada Senate race (thehill.com)
  20. You got me there. Damn, that's making me laugh more than it should.
  21. In my lifetime, it has been more penal colony than country, and the abuse from Israel has been non-stop, much like the punching back from Palestine. The world would be a better place without religions.
  22. Not really. You could put him in a list of famous vegetarians without implying all vegetarians are nazis.

  24. The Western World mostly doesn't recognize Palestine as a country. Don't think that is the case either. No party can claim the moral high ground here. I honestly don't think there will ever be a solution to this issue.
  25. Palestine is the only country on earth that has no right to resist occupation, land theft, ethnic cleansing and genocide. WHY? Why does the entire planet have to ignore or forget what Israel has done TO the Palestinians for the last 70+ years?
