Should Biden Get the Nomination in Light of an Apparent Sexual Assault

And so it is.  I was waiting to see who else felt strongly enough about Joe but it looks like it's just you.

I don't gamble with money. It's just not something I'm into. That said, there are some pretty strong indications that in a similar way that Trump won on an anti-Hilary vote Biden can win on an anti-Trump vote. The numbers of people who change from last time don't need to be very large.

1 is too many.  Here are two.

Let's look at your supposed Antifa assassins.

First one - Legan.  No known connection to Antifa.  Wiki: "On the day of the shooting, Legan made two posts to the account, one of which complained about the event congesting the countryside with "hordes of mestizos and Silicon Valley white twats" and instructed people to read the 19th-century book Might Is Right, a pseudonymous proto-fascist manifesto that promotes racial violence and anti-Semitism and is popular in white supremacist and neo-Nazi circles."

So we have a guy who apparently hated Silicon Valley liberals, mixed-race "mongrels" and who wanted people to read white supremacist literature.  Antifa or right wing nutcase?

Second one - Betts.  No known connection to Antifa.  Wiki: "A preliminary assessment did not indicate the shooter had a racial or political motive. . . . Over the past year, the gunman had performed live vocals for a pornogrind band called Menstrual Munchies, a genre which Vice News described as a "misogynistic, male-dominated" music scene, and Buzzfeed described as focused on gore, violence, and necrophilia, and known for its dark, satirical themes of sexual violence delivered for shock value. His high school girlfriend said he complained of visual and auditory hallucinations and psychosis, and was afraid of developing schizophrenia."

So we have a guy who was more on the incel side of things, and who had signs of psychosis.  Antifa or right wing nutcase?  Or plain old nutcase?

Of those two, the first one was likely a RIGHT wing extremest.  The second was likely mentally unbalanced.

You're doing that thing again where you post stuff without reading it.  In this case you've claimed two Antifa terrorists - and it turns out that one was probably insane, and the other was exactly the opposite of what you claimed.

So? Doesn't matter how brainwashed the hardcore who go to his rallies are, they still only get to vote once.

An unmotivated Biden supporter is less likely to show up to the polls.  As much as suburban women hate Trump, the allegations against Biden might just have them stay home.

Given the stack of similar and worse against Trump?

I would hope not. I hope the lesson of Trump has taught enough people the dangers that go with that.

And listening to Young Turks, there are a lot of Bernie supporters that are now ambivalent, when Trump won they were more pissed off at the Democrat establishment then they were at Trump supporters.

That could be Trump's new campaign ad!  "Biden was accused of sexual assault.  Vote for the rapist instead!"

Hi Biil,

That reminds of this NCO I was stationed with back in '61-'62.  His wife was from Louisiana and she had a shirt-tail relative running for Lt. Gov.  A reporter asked him he was crooked, and he said, ‘Yes, I am.  But, not as crooked as the other guy.

To a large extent the stock market has recovered.  As far as the rest of the economy goes, we will just have to wait and see what two trillion + dollars does to a recovery from a downturn that had no underlying economic cause.

I expect the stock market to revisit the March lows, and continue lower, in August.

He should not be nominated because of his age! Simple as that.

Hi 434,

If he were being pushed around in a wheelchair ala Strom Thurmond I would vote for him over Trump.

If he raped 47 women in the bedroom of the Blue House, I would vote for him over Trump.

Anything else?

I just feel sorry for you guys to not have better choices. I liked him in the Obama team, but now, he is just to old, and it you who wote, who can not manage to make better choices  when you got it! Something terrible wrong when all you gonna have is Mr Trump and Biden. At least Biden will listen to his team, and be a better leader no doubt, but still

Hey Jerry, the next time you're thinking out loud, make sure you don't hit the talk-to-text button.  It's the little icon that looks like a microphone. :p

As an aside, is it just me or is there something fundamentally fucked with people born in and around the 1940s?  From my experience they've been relatively immature for their age and much more difficult to work with.  Another commonality seems to be a creepy preoccupation with sex - and then you hear about that whole hepatitis thing with people in this age group.  I mean wtf was going on back then with these people?

And, there you have it. The sanctimonious hypocrisy of the left in one sentence.

Donald Trump/Date of birth June 14, 1946

"The successful demagogue activates this feeling by possessing the typical qualities of the individuals who follow him, but in what Adorno, quoting Freud, called a ‘clearly marked and pure form’ that gives the impression ‘of greater force and of more freedom of libido’. In Adorno’s words, ‘the superman has to resemble the follower and appear as his “enlargement”.’ The leader ‘completes’ the follower’s self-image."

"Among voters ages 30 to 49, 51% supported Clinton and 40% favored Trump. Trump had an advantage among 50- to 64-year-old voters (51% to 45%) and those 65 and older (53% to 44%)."

Well, not all "the left" is down with that attitude. I completely disagree with it.

It's kind of like "I could kill a baby on Fifth Avenue and people would still vote for me."

"What distinguishes the demagogue in a democratic society, he argued in ‘Freudian Theory and the Pattern of Fascist Propaganda’ (1951), is the identification between the leader and his followers. The narcissism in question is not only Trump’s. More important is that of his followers, who idealise him as they once, in childhood, idealised themselves. Beyond that, the demagogue has a special appeal to wounded narcissism, to the feeling that one has failed to meet standards one has set for oneself."...

His followers take every attack on their leader as an attack on them. ‘The fascist leader’s startling symptoms of inferiority’, Adorno wrote, ‘his resemblance to ham actors and asocial psychopaths’, facilitates the identification, which is the basis of the ideal. On the Access Hollywood tape, which was widely assumed would finish him, Trump was giving voice to a common enough daydream, but with ‘greater force’ and greater ‘freedom of libido’ than his followers allow themselves. And he was bolstering the narcissism of the women who support him, too, by describing himself as helpless in the grip of his desires for them."

To end the formalized national sexual exploitation of women by a minority of voters. Will take sacrifice.

First, Jerry is just one person and not 'the left'. Second, It's easy to say as a hypothetical but I'm approximately 100% sure he wouldn't do it in reality.

On the other hand Trump, a well known criminal and self avowed sexual predator and serial assaulter of women was in fact elected. So there you have it, the gaping moral void of the right in one vote.

Well, at least we now know what your stance is on rape and sexual assault.

I think there are a lot of good revelations being discovered here.

The relationship between the decade one was born into and the amount of fuckedupedness that person holds - (The 40s) Not to mention the preoccupation with sex.

The true stance of a loyal Democrat, which does NOT include being OK with Rape.

This is good progress.  The first step of problem solving is identifying the problem, right?

What do you see as "the problem?" The accusation, a presumption of guilt, or what you might now see as "Biden's sexual assault?"

Well, there has to be some actual evidence, even if it's just contemporary or semi-contemporary corroboration. Biden is a touchy-feely type (which used to be much more OK than it is now). It's a far cry from that to "put his fingers into me under my skirt." When one person accused Kavanaugh of being an asshole when he was in high school, I still didn't like Kavanaugh, but figured he was young and dumb. I wasn't alone in that. It was when there were enough more, and, even more, when everyone attacked the accuser.

I haven't heard a lot of people attacking Tara Reade personally. The story, yes. Calling her lack of consistency into question (in 2017 she was praising him; last year she said he was a little creepy, but nothing more, this year it's rape).

I was referring to the statement in this post, in a slightly cheeky way.
