BSR proposal for canopy patterns
Samurai136 replied to billvon's topic in General Skydiving Discussions
Bill, the proposed BSR's are Self-Defeating. You have just defined every student and swooper in violation of BSR's. That's a no go. USPA promotes skydiving for skydivers. By the your proposed new rules; Anyone who diviates from a "proscribed" landing pattern is de-facto in error. How does that promote skydiving? It promotes lawsuits. Link 1 Link 2 It sounds like a few people have had this problem before. You either have a virus or you need to do a re-install/ repair of XP with the re-install disk. If that doesn't work... quit doing 270's in the pattern... MS-XP doesn't like that. "Buttons aren't toys." - Trillian Ken

Holes in Canopy... What size is allowed
Samurai136 replied to mnskydiver688's topic in Gear and Rigging
Additionally, the french fell seam will be 1/4" wide; the 'smallest' patch you could do would be 1" square. It's called ripstop nylon for a reason. "Buttons aren't toys." - Trillian Ken -

silver grey VS white nylon for front of jumpsuit
Samurai136 replied to countzero's topic in Gear and Rigging
White nylon is sheer (see-through). Usually manufacturers will build the jump suit with two layers of white nylon to off-set this characteristic. 2 layers of white is probably just as hot as one layer of black. White gets dirty really fast. "Buttons aren't toys." - Trillian Ken -

another unethical dz website
Samurai136 replied to happythoughts's topic in General Skydiving Discussions
Does anyone else appreciate the irony here? Two days into the thread, Hippie-md creates and ID and goes straight to this topic and only posts on this topic. Must be some kind of bizarre cosmic co-incidence. "Buttons aren't toys." - Trillian Ken -
http://www.skyleague.com/pages/rules/ Click on link that reads "Download Printouts of the current dive pool: Blocks - Randoms" near the top of the page. Also check out the Fastrax web site under the "media" tab. Some good stuff there, too. http://www.teamfastrax.org/divePool.aspx "Buttons aren't toys." - Trillian Ken

The lower cost jump ticket is off-set by the registration fee. Most jumpers will never make any where near enough jumps in a boogie to average out to the "normal" lift ticket price. "Buttons aren't toys." - Trillian Ken -

WFFC was a waste before it moved from Quincy to Rantoul. Yeah, we all had fun... but why pay $60 and deal with the madness of WFFC? Throw a corn cob and you're more likely to hit a 200- (minus) jump wonder than an experienced person who wants to jump @ WFFC. The cool people to jump with are not at WFFC. Goto another boogie. Summerfest, Couchfreaks, LP, etc.... "hey, let's go to the WFFC!" "why? I can jump specialty AC anywhere, they always promise a jet that falls thru at the last second?" "meet new people and make new friends..." "Hey, I'm going to XXX DZ this weekend... " WFFC presents itself as an event to jump w/ great skydivers but I have never met any WC or national competitive skydivers at the WFFC. sad but true "Buttons aren't toys." - Trillian Ken

let's ban slow canopies, tehy are lame. Fast canopies are more fun. Slow canopies are for Faber who is too scared of heights and never jumps higher than 300ft Swoopers Unite! Take back the Sky! I know someone already has this slogan 1. Swoopers get their own separate landing area (AKA: Main landing area) closest to the Packing tent, manifest, etc. 2. Secondary landing area for non swoopers is at least 2000' away from Main landing area. Rules for Main landing area: 1. No turns initiated below 500' 2. All turns must be at least 180 to 270 degree turns 3. anyone flying slow and making small turns to final in the main landing area will be warned and advised where they should be landing. P.S. Does anyone know how to load an Otter? "Buttons aren't toys." - Trillian Ken

What has been largest completed Hybrid formation?
Samurai136 replied to amychmelecki's topic in The Bonfire
How many points? Seriously. Think hybrid & V-RW... multiple 2-way w/ hanger pieces turning points to build with solo FF's docking to build new formations.....
