Probably google ads working off your user ID. type in "rocketlawyer" at http://whois.domaintools.com/. It appears to be a legit website. Maybe they're competition to Legal Zoom dot com; promoted by Robert Shapiro>? Edit: BTW I don't see any ads either. Firefox3. "Buttons aren't toys." - Trillian Ken

Do think a jump pilot has a reason to be angry when this happens?
Samurai136 replied to peek's topic in Safety and Training
Is it a rigging issue? How is the spandex BOC? Is it tight enough to hold the drogue? Is the drogue packed correctly? In my experience drogues don't just fall out the BOC. Usually, as part of the pre-flight inspection, I consider the "chain of custody". Who packed the main? Who packed the drogue? Does the packer need re-training? Drogue release assembly? etc... Everyone knows tandem rigs are heavy. If there is a long wait for the plane (cessna DZ) I wouldn't put on the rig until the plane was on the ground (or on final approach). Assuming the student is trained, geared up and ready; ideally, I want to complete the pre-flight, put on the rig, and board the plane. Personality conflicts on the DZ are tough. The tandem operation is a team effort (DZO, manifest, packers, instructors, pilots). If I didn't feel the team support was there I would talk to the DZO. Ultimately it is my ass on the line with the student. I wouldn't jump in any scenario that I felt compromised my safety. "Buttons aren't toys." - Trillian Ken -
Uncle chop chops mr bill gone wrong

Chris, try clicking on the "more info" tag next to the video. He didn't catch the canopy. He never had a clean break away. The jumper explains that his leg was wrapped in suspension lines, hook knife broke fighting the malfunction, deployed his reserve, and was unable to clear the entanglement around his leg. This is just another example of why Mr Bill jumps are...a bad idea. "Buttons aren't toys." - Trillian Ken -

It doesn't appear the instructor deployed the drogue for stability. It looks like the instructor snagged the drogue moving towards the door. I agree with Rob's technique. I think the instructor needs some re-training for exiting a C182. "Buttons aren't toys." - Trillian Ken -

My Continuous Struggle To Arch Properly

What did your instructors tell you to do to improve your arch? I'm not downloading anything to watch the videos either... but I have a few ideas based on the photos. "Buttons aren't toys." - Trillian Ken -

Reading this thread reminds me of a few lines from Conan. Crom laughs at your Four Winds. Laughs from his mountain. Ha, my god is stronger- He is the everlasting sky. Your god- lives underneath it. What is best? Crush your enemies, see them driven before you, and to hear the lamentations of the women. "Buttons aren't toys." - Trillian Ken

Are most of the Emma's under age 25 while the Jane's are 35+? Emma became a very popular name in the late 80's to present. Jane was most popular during the 50's and 60's. maybe it's the growth hormone in milk? "Buttons aren't toys." - Trillian Ken

There are also some parts of the NYT article that are gross mis-interpretations/politcal spin of McCain's position in his paper. I read his paper and agreed with the premise and conclusions. I think they are misrepresented in the NYT article to make political hay. McCain is advocating educating soldiers in foreign policy to the extent necessary that it prepares them to fight an entirely different war as a P.O.W. A war of propaganda. An interesting quote from his paper: Infer what you will from that... I can't imagine how that might apply to current events. "Buttons aren't toys." - Trillian Ken

if i were an "oil" company, i would change to an "energy" company and be on the front lines of alternative energy souces, and buy up all of the patents for alternative energy, and then sit on all of the new technology until all of the oil is sucked from the ground. i don't know if oil companies are currently doing this, but i would be surprised if they weren't. This sounds like the final scene of the movie "The Formula". 1980 film Starring Marlon Brando and George C. Scott. As the Oil Co. exec Brando get lines like "We're not in the oil business; we're in the oil shortage business! " By the end of the film the Brando has made a business deal to "wait" on the release of the alternative fuel source until they can maximize their profits. "Buttons aren't toys." - Trillian Ken

http://www.time.com/time/nation/article/0,8599,1812102,00.html One might also credit germaphobics for the fist bump's popularity. Deal or No Deal host Howie Mandel reportedly adopted the gesture as a friendly way to avoid his contestants' germs. Gosh, what would happen if Obama took this kind of greeting to a G8 summit meeting? Do you think Putin is hip enough? "Buttons aren't toys." - Trillian Ken
