  1. I can agree that mental health issues are often laughed at and or ridiculed, strange because 7 of 10 people will suffer some form of mental health issue at some point in their lives. She suffered a great deal... Just curious here, but where do you get the 7 out of 10 people stat? lisa WSCR 594 FB 1023 CBDB 9

  4. Something else that may be useful are the motion sickness bands you wear around your wrist. No drugs. Some people swear by them. The science behind them is fairly solid--Acupressure/puncture based. Worth a try anyway. lisa WSCR 594 FB 1023 CBDB 9
  5. I never get motion sickness even in a plane doing acrobatics, so this comes from observing my daughter. My daughter gets motion sickness whenever she is in a car while riding. When she learned to drive, that went away, but only while driving. The same may be true when you are the one controlling the canopy. This also could be a reaction of relief, sort of a letdown of the anxiety of the "actual" jump--meaning the ride up and the freefall--once you were under canopy, you felt safe and all the stuff you didn't let yourself succumb to earlier rushed in and ... Take heart, and stick it out if it something you enjoy! lisa WSCR 594 FB 1023 CBDB 9
  6. What makes you think that removing someone from the "available" population makes that person less desirable? It usually makes them seem all the more luscious But your selflessness is commendable lisa WSCR 594 FB 1023 CBDB 9
  7. I figured out how to carry a cup of coffee. Takes a while and it's kinda sketchy but I can do it, damn it! you mean get someone else to do it can do iy but god what a carry on getting from the kitchen to dining room table take a lifetime Get a swivel stool with roller feet. It's your best friend while you are gimpy. You can kneel on it in the kitchen and do stuff (depending on the injury). You can sit on it and push with your good foot and get around and carry stuff at the same time (albeit backwards).
  8. Jump where you want, it's your money, time and life. Jump at both places, a third and so on. Although 2 places right now is probably enough until you get more experience. The key is to find a place and a mentor you trust. Heck, I've jumped at more than one DZ in a day, lots of us have. lisa WSCR 594 FB 1023 CBDB 9
  9. According to Wiki they orient themselves belly-to-earth. "In addition to the righting reflex cats have a number of other features that will reduce damage from a fall. Their small size, light bone structure, and thick fur decrease their terminal velocity. Furthermore, once righted they may also spread out their body to increase drag and slow the fall to some extent.[5] A falling cat's terminal velocity is 100 km/h (60mph) whereas that of a falling man in a "free fall position" is 210 km/h (130mph). At terminal velocity they also relax as they fall which protects them to some extent on impact. However, it has been argued that, after having reached terminal velocity, cats would orient their limbs horizontally such that their body hits the ground first." http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Cat_righting_reflex lisa WSCR 594 FB 1023 CBDB 9
  10. When my husband was stationed in Hawaii, we used to jump with the club from Schofield Barracks. Small club with not very experienced jumpers, but it was free Flying "nap of the earth" down in the canyons below ridge-line was scary-great fun, too! lisa WSCR 594 FB 1023 CBDB 9

  12. Off hand, if there was more than one DZ in a given area, and a complete ignorant (in the kindest sense of the word) someone was looking for a "safe" place to make a tandem or AFF, picking a place that runs more jumps thru it might sound better than a "less experienced" DZ. lisa WSCR 594 FB 1023 CBDB 9

  14. I just don't think a cat would dig it. To my knowledge I've never met a cat that wanted to skydive. I've met dogs that liked eating their own faeces though. If cats wanted to jump they would be BASEing it anyway, at night. I don't know about the skydiving, but I used to own a cat that loved to go motorcyling. She'd sit in my jacket and stick her head out, relaxed as could be. When she saw us preparing the bike, she'd jump up on the seat and get excited. I'm pretty sure that if she didn't like it, she'd have been nowhere to be seen. lisa WSCR 594 FB 1023 CBDB 9
  15. Nobody's even brought up the possibility that the USPS might be interested in the fraud being perpetrated through their mail if the "check" is sent that way. They may be in the best position (both in ability and interest in pursuing prosecution). lisa WSCR 594 FB 1023 CBDB 9

    The Left Lane

+1 on that one. With the newer cars nowadays, they typically comes standard with bluetooth. So yacking on the phone is much easier. Texting is starting to become a problem. Yes, I've done it, but at least be aware of what is around you. I pass people and see their eyes glued to their lap. I'm curious to know how many rear endings happen because people text or talk on the phone without being aware of what is around them? The Left Lane

Dawdlers in the left lane are one of my pet peeves. In fact, in some states, it illegal to hang out there without actively overtaking the cars in the right lane. I wish it was that way in all 50. However, your characterization that women are the primary offenders is ridiculous. The same argument could be made about age and race, or East v. Left coasters (people West of the Mississippi are much better than East). The worst offenders are in fact people on the phone. You can tell them a mile away; inconsistent speed, weaving, and general oblivious, cluelessness. When you finally get past the road block that they are, you can look in their car as you pass, and sure enough, yack, yack, yack! And no, women don't talk on the phone in the car any more than men lisa WSCR 594 FB 1023 CBDB 9
